Ely Hotel by Chef & Brewer Collection

I booked into The Ely for a celebration Birthday lunch on Saturday 9th September with my Family. The weather was 33 degrees but despite this Simon and his colleagues worked tirelessly to serve our meals (pre-booked), serve the drinks and make sure that we were happy with everything. Breakfast also very good choices and hot food cooked to order. Glyn and her team on the Reception were also very helpful and the money spent on the refurbishment last year to the buildings was a good decision as it looks totally different to how I remember a few years back, especially the outside seating area. Would definitely return when I next visit the area.

I have no complaints

It is a gorgeous place with an authentic English feel. The hallways smelt lovely, and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Lovely touches in the room, like cookies that are replenished daily and the best smelling body wash! The food was fantastic, especially the Sunday roast lunch. I'd recommend the trio of roasts. The staff were friendly and helpful.

My stay was literally perfect except for one thing. The hotel has obviously had a major refurbishment and everything is brand new, but unfortunately the shower rubbers are really tightly fitting, which has resulted in black mold starting to grow (in the shower of my room). What a pity! Perhaps management can have a look at how to handle this issue. Other than that - literally a perfect stay!!

The hotel is lovely and in a fantastic location, the staff were lovely and breakfast was excellent with a good choice for a healthy option, the only thing I had an issue with was around 10pm I could hear someone in a room above me stomping about for what was a good 20 min, and the floorboards were really loud, I think someone was trying to get their daily steps in but it was annoying as I had had a long drive down from Birmingham and needed an early night as I had a very early start. Other than that the overall experience was great.

Wi-Fi was hit and miss.

This was a midway stop between Sheerness and Cornwall. The room was newly refurbished, well decorated, clean and well stocked. Staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

The pub menu was very rich. Food was very nicely cooked and presented, however, I don't personally think you could stomach that calibre of food for more than a couple of days so we only had a lunch and one eveningmeal apart from breakfasts and looked elsewhere for meals. No family friendly food, plain salads etc.

The property was lovely. We had two meals and two breakfasts and it was outstanding food and service. All the staff in the restaurant and hotel were extremely friendly and helpful.

Our room looked out onto a very small grassed area and the back wall of the restaurant which I think was a function room. On the Saturday night there was very loud music but it was turned off at 12 o’clock. We do intend to stay again so next time I will request a room to the rear of the hotel. But on the whole it was a lovely stay.

Great value for the breakfast. Room was spacious and bathroom had a full bath which was excellent. Was quite cool even though it was very hot out and the extra fan was helpful in the morning when I got a bit warm. I’d definitely go back there in future with my partner if we wanted a quiet night away from the city!

Wish the GWR trains had been running more smoothly so I had arrived earlier and could have enjoyed the amenities of the restaurant more! Felt booking.com wasn’t quite clear about card being charged in advance which caused some confusion as I expected to pay when I got there (which I ended up doing with zero problems and they were lovely and accommodating about!)

we came for a friends wedding near by and it was the perfect location and setting for us to have a few days away. Beds were very comfortable and the staff friendly . our room was immaculately decorated and the facilities top end.

my one note is that the bedroom looked out to a courtyard that I believe is by the bins a staff area. is was very messy and the bins were overflowing with uncut grass and what looked like a poo bag thrown on the ground… only a little thing but we kept the curtains closed because it was ugly and looked like an afterthought

Hotel was beautifully decorated, our room was spotless. Lovely little touch with chocolates on the pillow. The pub located next to the hotel is lovely too - great choice of food for both breakfast and an evening meal. Caters will for families. Great that the hotel has a family room that can accommodate our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) as many don’t and we end up having to book two separate rooms. All the staff during our stay were super friendly and really helpful - all those in the pub and the lady on reception when we checked out.

Absolutely nothing - have stayed here twice and both times we couldn’t fault it.

Comfortable breakfast area. Very cold and icy to get there from the hotel.

My husbands full English was average was asked which toast he preferred. This didn't arrive with breakfast and was told to do his own at the toaster. He didn't bother as his breakfast would have been cold. My omelette could have been better. Went to get another cup of tea at 10o'clock. No hot water or English teabags butter or croissants. Asked for replenishments and was told breakfast ended at 10!! We didn't want anything cooked just finish the breakfast we had paid for and ordered before 9.30. The hotel side was comfortable warm and modern and the reception very friendly.

Free wifi, ample free parking, decent breakfast, spacious rooms, tea coffee, hairdryer bath./shower option, lots of sockets , pub/restaurant next to it, large outside patio 50% of which is shaded. On the A30, N side, and easy to find and not far from M3 3/4/ 4a Relaxed, pleasant decor Pub food - simple, tasty, ample portions and fairy priced

Very minor things it would be churlish to mention - you get a budget chain hotel price for a 3 star experience
