Room spotless and spacious with all facilities you could want, except coat hangers , small price to pay for what was a superior room and totally unexpected. Breakfast was excellent and variations to the menu up to your mood or hunger at the time, your choice and staff more than happy to oblige. Main menu a bit limited in my opinion but what we did eat was very nice including Wobbly Bob's steak pie again all served by very friendly staff. If you enjoy a game of pool Michael is the one to ask all in all would visit again.

Entrance to parking , but not a lot can be done about that without destroying a historic building.

I loved the cheerful welcome I received on arrival and throughout my stay. Everyone was friendly, helpful and efficient. My room in the courtyard, with its own private entrance, was lovely. An old converted stable perhaps? It was cosy and warm, with very attractive decor and spotlessly clean. There were lovely soft pillows and a cosy duvet with a blanket for extra warmth. There were plenty of good bright lights which I could turn on and off according to need. This is really helpful as older eyes need brighter light! Farrars tea, coffee and biscuits were available together with a mini fridge containing fresh milk. So welcome instead of the usual fiddly milk sachets. I had two good breakfasts and one evening meal, all of which were substantial and tasty. There was a wide range of gins, wines and real ales available in the comfortable bar. I would recommend booking for an evening meal as it was busy with many booked tables. I managed to park the car, despite the archway being quite narrow, which was a bonus in busy Kendal. The Shakespeare Inn was the perfect choice as I was attending a gig at the Brewery Arts Centre a mere 3 minutes walk away. After a lovely weekend I have no hesitation in recommending the inn.

Great location, free onsite parking (through the tunnel? to the side of the pub, this is a narrow tunnel but easy to drive through with care), room was very clean, quality sheets and mattress, complimentary fresh milk in the fridge with some complimentary biscuits. 100% would stay again, great value for money. A great place to stay much prefer this to a soulless travellodge or Premier inn. The rooms are located around the back of the pub and were really quiet with a table and chairs outside in a small courtyard which would be great in Summer. Thank you!

Bathroom needs a little refresh around the tiles / floor this is minor though it was generally very clean with toiletries and fresh towels.

The property was set back off the road which meant the rooms were lovely and quiet. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfy. The location was perfect with quite a few local walks for you to start right in Kendal without having to drive. Breakfast was lovely the next morning and staff couldn’t do enough for you.

We got our car through the gap fine but if there are a few cars already parked it was hard to navigate your car into a space. Still good to have free parking available though

Loved our stay at the Shakespeare Inn. We had two cosy, warm rooms located together, that were good sizes and stocked with tea, coffee, fresh milk and biscuits!! The Inn itself was a friendly place for breakfast and dinner with my teenage children, staff were all super nice and helpful!! Yummy breakfasts were a fantastic start to our busy days, and especially enjoyed the black pudding!! Also super quiet given the location in the middle of Kendal - we all slept really well.

We liked everything. Even the challenge of the tight drive into the carpark was fun!!

The Shakespeare inn was lovely had a great time there. Rooms are separate from the pub so no noice issues. food and drinks in the pub where top quality and the staff are excellent. Breakfast was included in the price and again was top quality.

Had issues trying to park. couldn’t park at the property when we arrived because a scaffolding lorry was blocking the entrance. had to park on a pay and display car park just a short walk away. Not the property’s fault at all just one of those things. Ended up paying about £9 to park. The entrance to the pubs car park is very narrow so if you have a large vehicle you may struggle or be better off using the pay and display.

A very good location in the middle of town. Breakfast was good. A very quiet room considering we were in centre of town Staff were pleasant Would return good value for money.

Please be aware and heed what is written about parking, the opening is extremley tight and we managed to scrape our Astra car but the site does warn you about this so it was our fault!Plenty of other parking in the immediate area. If you have any mobility problems the outside metal staircase could be a problem

Right in the centre of town beautiful historic building. The room was behind the main building situated in the coach house block so was quiet and peaceful with no traffic noise. Lovely room clean and well decorated. Extremely comfortable beds and nice bathroom. Great inclusive delicious breakfast and booked a nice evening meal. All the staff were friendly, accommodating and very helpful. All this made for a relaxing stay in a lovely town.

Not sure how accessible for anyone with mobility problems there are a series of short steps to access the main building. Two of the rooms are on the first floor accessed by a metal staircase. But it is possible to contact the hotel to discuss problems.

Staff were very kind to prepare our room before check-in time and they helped us out finding a cab service to go back to Manchester on a railway strike day. Good location, right in the town centre, but very quiet. Good generous breakfast.

It's just a minor detail really: I found the small fridge buzzing slightly annoying, but you get used to it.

The accommodation met all my requirements: clean room, good shower, comfy beds, onsite parking and in a central location. Our family room was very spacious for three adults. The shower could have been more powerful, but at least the cubicle was a good size and the water was hot. Coffee/tea making facilities were good, with a mini-fridge for milk. Breakfast (included in the price) was superb and the server was extremely friendly. Great location, with an easy walk to many pubs. Would highly recommend and stay here again if in the area.

Be very careful when parking your car in the hotel's car park! The entrance is very narrow, and although we drove in slowly, still managed to scrape our car door. In hindsight, I wish we had parked on the main road.
