Hillthwaite Hotel

amazing hotel for a break, very clean and the beds are amazingly comfy! the location is up a hill but we didn’t bother about that. we walked it into Windermere everyday takes around 15 minutes. beautiful hotel, welcoming staff thank you

Excellent quality food and restaurant service.

Room had no air con and always hot - even with window open. Pool not very warm. When we checked in felt like we were arriving at a holiday camp rather than superior hotel. Greeted with the expectation to have the form completed for time of breakfast, time of dinner and even time you were going to swim (even though the pool was empty). Could have let that all pass if the receptionist was more engaging - we made the effort to explain the unusual circumstances of our booking, but all met with silence. Never a rude exchange, but certainly not customer focused/welcoming either.

The location was great, the staff were excellent, very warm and friendly yet maintaining a high level of professionalism, the facilities were excellent, we enjoyed relaxing out on the terrace making the most of the glorious weather whilst enjoying a drink from the bar. It is a short walk either into the town of Windermere or down to the Lake, with plenty of interesting and enjoyable walks locally. We had a fabulous stay at the Hilthwaite Hotel, we went as a family to celebrate a birthday, we were looking for an experience and that is exactly what we got, we could not have selected a better place to spend a weekend and celebrate an important birthday

My husband and I stayed at The Hillthwaite Hotel. I would throughly recommend staying there. The staff couldn’t be faulted, especially as I was taken Ill and was looked after by all the staff, especially Loretta & Julian. The food was excellent, such a fantastic choice for breakfast. Everything was clean and well cared for. The swimming pool was warm and inviting. Disabled parking, right by the door was a bonus. I would love to visit again, unfortunately my husband passed away just a few days after our amazing holiday, but I still have happy memories of Windermere and The Hillthwaite Hotel.

Separate area for dogs and owners to eat which was really nice and it had Proper tables and chairs, not low chairs etc. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was big but slightly too hot ( but did provide a fan) food was amazing

We got told off because our dog barked because she is quite nervous and people kept coming up to her. A member of staff told us she was upsetting other guests which made us feel quite anxious.

very quiet comfortable stay, located above all other hotels in the area due to being on top of the hill with fantastic views of mountains and even the Windermere lake. Swimming pool also with a view onto mountains, so swimming there was particularly spectacular. booking system of the pool allows for exclusive use of it as well as the sauna. One of our best stays, definitely one to do pleasantly remember. Staff attitude was amazing, very helpful, also restaurant staff service was exceptional!

lovely views of the lake walking distance from the nearest town/high street the restaurant food was gorgeous for both dinner and breakfast service and staff in the restaurant were so lovely love the decor and the warm fire in the cosy rooms, made it feel like a home from home the pool was clean and a nice added extra to our stay

heating on all night in the room and unable to turn off so was slightly too hot for us but bearable pre-ordering dinner was a bit unusual but delicious non the less having to pre-book a time slot for the pool meant we were waiting around as we were back from our day out sooner than we thought so would of been nice to just go in whenever we were ready pool had no changing rooms so had to get changed in your room and also the steam room out of action

Very close to the center, around 20 min walk to all ferries/shops/restaurants.Beautiful view to the lake. Very welcoming design, friendly and helpful hotel staff. Hotel is very clean and quiet as its off road , surrounded by gardens.

Most of restaurant staff seemed more friendly and welcoming to older guests.Nobody came to check up on whether we enjoyed the dinner or generally have few words during the dinner .Except for the bartender who was preparing the drinks and coffee for us that day.

The view from the hotel is exceptional,beautifully decorated inside well managedSo peaceful too didn’t hear any noise had a great sleep.Swimming pool and sauna brilliant . Breakfast lovely

No negatives really …We stayed in an occasion room and for the price it was not much different staying in a classic plus room . Although the room was bigger Expected more in the bathroom bit small no shelves to put your toiletries on in shower no where to hang up hand towels properly don’t think the fan was working properly as steam took ages to clear . Headboard had a very bad yellowy stain on could see straight away and dusty in places with cobwebs on ceiling.

Located off the main road with plenty of parking. The hotel is on a hill and we were fortunate it was a clear sunny afternoon which offered a fantastic view from the outdoor seating area. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. We took advantage of the swimming pool and sauna, which on one occasion we had to ourselves. Breakfast offered a very good choice,I do recommend the Salmon and eggs. A 5 minute walk to Windermere centre or the centre of Bo’ness. Yes I would stay again

We booked late so the choice off rooms was limited. A slightly bigger room would have been nice specially if it offered a great view.
