Nice hotel, staff were super, breakfast was excellent. Good bar, and they gave us some bar vouchers, which was nice. Location very good provided you have transport. WiFi was good, which was just as well as there was no phone signal.

The price on Booking.com was good, right up until they mentioned a parking charge that came to an extra 14% on the bill. If this was visible at the time of booking, I certainly didn't find it. They emailed about it just after the free cancellation period ended and just before the stay. This hotel is 2 miles from the nearest public transport, so I guess that the vast majority of guests come by car. On the subject of emails, they seem to be emailing pretty much every day about some special offer or other, which is getting annoying. My vacation is over, I've left the hotel and am not coming back any time soon.

Breakfast was incredibly good. Possibly best meal ever at any time of day. Dog friendliness was beyond all expectations. Staff were really nice and helpful. Room spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Only thing was the unexpected car parking charge of £12. Perhaps I didn't read all the small print on booking, but this is a lot!! No choice not to park there.

As disappointed we had to pay so much for the car park on top of what we paid for our stay , but also wasn’t told on arrival

Breakfast and dinner were very nice, and the room was nice although the bathroom looked a bit like it needed some TLC.

It is a money grabbing scam that they charge £12 for an overnight car parking. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and there is nowhere nearby to park, so how do they expect you to get there without a car? Bad, bad form Wild Boar. Sticks in my throat.

We have stayed at the Wild Boar three times now. I booked it for our 30th wedding anniversary. The staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us, they really made our stay. We ate in the restaurant both nights and thought the food was excellent. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We had our dog with us and he was made welcome also, lots of treats, and even a little welcome pack waiting on arrival.

As I said we had our dog with us, and paid an extra £20/night for him which I thought was a little excessive and I believe it should have been £30. At that price I wouldn’t bring him again. Also the car parking charge of £12/night! These charges actually give the wrong impression of what the Wild Boar is!

The Wild Boar is a well-run country hotel with charming designer touches. The bed was super comfortable and the room was spacious and very relaxing. Bathroom was luxurious with very hot water. Their dog friendliness extends to a doggy welcome pack, soft sleeping pad and bowls laid out in the bathroom - very cute. The staff were outstanding in thier attention to detail, and generally being professionally helpful. The location is excellent - along winding roads in the countryside but still near Windermere and other Lakeland favourites. Even though there is a road right next to the drinks terrace, our room was completely quiet. The breakfast was one of the best ever - the hot menu was truly inventive. Our dinner was delicious, with good service - the bill felt rather pricy but it was still a great meal.

There is a £12 charge for parking which seems weird when you have no other choices and no reason to park there except to stay at the hotel. However, if you book direct with them, the charge is waived. But in my view it shouldn't be applied in the first place.

Food great. Hotel lovely and full of character. Staff friendly and helpful. Room very nice and well equipped with toiletries etc.

Had to pay £12 extra for parking which I didn’t agree with on principal as I’m paying for accommodation and we ate in restaurant!

The whole ambiance of The Wild Boar Inn was really lovely. The food was really stunning, the staff we came across were all lovely, accommodating and friendly, a credit to the place. The room was really comfortable, well equipped and a huge bed, just one disappointing aspect (see below). The walks through the grounds are very good and lots of information about them, we saw a good bit of wildlife!

The only thing throughout our stay, was the bathroom (room 31), it was a bit disappointing, not what we would have expected for the money paid. It really does need an upgrade and quick. There was mildew and trapped dirt in the silicone around the bath, some of the trim was all broken and cracked. The shower was very antiquated and I could not get the shower head down to the height I would have liked. The loo seat needed tightening up, it moved all over the place! The whole bathroom seemed a wee bit 'dirty' to us. Please upgrade asap.

Hotel has a really nice bar area and restaurant, though we ate in bar with our dog. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was decent enough and clean. Food for dinner and breakfast was good

The rooms were very warm, despite radiator being off, this was quite uncomfortable for our dog, other guests also commented same. We understand the charge for our dog, which is quite usual but was almost put off by being charged £12 to actually park at the hotel. In a town or city there might be other options for parking but this wasn’t the case. It left a bit of a poor impression, especially since there wasn’t a lot of space so could to even get out of our car. It would feel more honest just to add the cost to the room charge.
