The location was fine just a little further away from Bowness than first thought with no footpath much of the way. Breakfast was ok. We thought bacon and sausage was overcooked and you could tell that some of the staff were new. Staff like Tony,Joe and Emily are exceptional employees and so important management appreciate how good these people are in dealing with guests expectations.

Just small details like getting some coffee as soon as you arrive for breakfast. Also I got an e mail saying my room would be ready at 1pm however advised not ready till 3pm. Also felt breakfast could have been a little warmer.

Excellent service and friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast.

I found the music played in the public areas a bit annoying. It wasn't so overly intrusive that it intruded in converstaion but in quiet contenplative moments in the lounge for example I found it very irritating. Silence during daytime hours would be much better. Play it in the evening if you must but silence even then would be better too. You should know that I wear hearing aids which could in part explain my irritation. Found the room a bit small. Would probably go for a larger room next time. Loo seat too low.

The location was absolutely stunning. What a (lake) view from the terrace! Everything was just lovely: the landscaped grounds with their African sculpture features, the hotel's stylish interiors, the delicious food (Breakfast and the Bar/Conservatory menu - we didn't get into the Henrock...), really nice room...and very nice, friendly staff. A truly magical place...especially given the incredible warm, sunny September weather. Oh and the collection in the lounge of books for browsing...including, of course, the excellent Hunter Davies one on Beatrix Potter!

Great location, away from the hustle and bustle of Windemere. Located on a hill, it provided beautiful views. Staff was professional and helpful.

The entire breakfast was below average, but especially disappointing was the coffee. It was watery and mild. The staff tried, as we were provided espresso drinks, but they too were "off". For an establishment that is focused on quality, the kitchen needs to provide a higher quality for the breakfast and coffee. The hotel would benefit from a concierge for explicit suggestions and instructions on the Lake District - directions, what and where to visit, where to eat, etc.

Beautiful, exceptionally clean hotel on magnificent grounds. The staff were wonderful, especially Jasmine and the gentlemen at the bar. We could have sat in the orangery all day. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, surrounded by hospitable staff and nature, this hotel is a must. I know a few guests complained about the dinner and/or breakfast, but I know it’s a matter of taste. The breakfast was just right. No buffet style waste and the dinner was ‘Michelin style’. The flavours were delectable! The level of detail in furnishing/designing the dining was wonderful too.

It was a little pricey and I’m a bit of a stickler for modern, clean bathrooms. The bathroom was very clean and the staff were wonderful in ensuring I got close to what I wanted. I just felt the bathroom needed a little updating. Not a negative, they’ve done exceptionally well in designing the hotel—the rooms however could have done with a venting system.

Everything. It was a beautiful setting, an experience, adventure into how the other half live, Uber clean and an efficient attentive team of staff who looked after and anticipated every need. The concept of curated art works by the owner in the rooms and grounds is stunning to behold with fantastic views of the lake and the sun going down. Well worth pushing the boat out you won't regret it. Simon Rogan inspired menu that was at Michelin star level and just divine to experience eating such fine food.

The sausage at breakfast. I like sausage and this was average everything else was great.

Breakfast was lovely. Location perfect for relaxation

Room very small, not even a place to dry hair or apply makeup. Really noisy outside at night because of some kind of equipment. We could hear bins being emptied of glass late at night and early morning. The room was really hot. Opening windows was not enough. Absolutely no outlook other than roofs. Ceiling very low so room kind of claustrophobic. Lots of stairs to enable entry to room. A bituch when we have both recently had hip replacements. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well appointed.

Breakfast the avocado was old . Also at dinner when we gave our order it took the staff over 20mins to inform us that the dishes chosen are not available! Most establishments let their guests know straight away what isnt available that evening, tb This wasted alot of our time, as they couldnt offer an alternative . Instead, they had to move us into another restaurant only to wait a further 40 minutes for our food. For this reason i not will recommend to eat at this hotel.

Gorgeous setting which can be enjoyed from the conservatory area. Didn’t feel busy. Cosy fires and lovely seating areas. Enjoyed the artwork around the house and grounds. Nothing was too much trouble.

My only recommendation… Henrock was fabulous but the food was too complex and fussy for us. Since the conservatory/bar restaurant was closed it would have been nice to have an extended menu in Henrock to cover simpler tastes, or a couple of options available in the bar. I felt hungry after eating in Henrock and didn’t enjoy the food, which I’m sure many would find superb, but just not our style.
