Aberley House is a unique find. The location is excellent -- right on the water and our room had a fantastic view, right off the front of the house. The furnishings all seem antique and very high class. The house itself was built in the 1800's and you can imagine how they lived back then, so much charm!!! Our bathroom was upstairs from our room, but it was private and very large and I was very comfortable walking up and down the stairs -- thought I was going to be bothered that it was not en-suite, but the room and bathroom and furnishings were so charming, I didn't care. Excellent stay!!

Beautiful house within a stone's throw of the beach. The house itself is packed full of gorgeous artwork and quirky items, so it makes for a great place to chill after a long day. Jonathan was a wonderful, attentive host and made us feel right at home. He also kindly upgraded us to a room with a sea view, which was lovely to wake up to. It was a pity we weren't staying for longer than one night.

Not a negative, but not all bathrooms are ensuite. As we were coming back from an event late at night, I was very cautious of disturbing other guests, but hopefully we didn't!

This is a fabulous house on a grand scale! From the moment you walk into the entrance hallway everything you are seeing is stylishly arranged, and you will find yourself constantly noticing so many small details that collectively add so much to the elegant interiors. The “Gormley” room was excellent and the sea view was impressive and the assigned private bathroom was huge and just as impressive as our room. There is also an enormous games room in the basement which includes a full size snooker table, dart board and huge TV with internet access for Netflix etc and the owner even allowed us access to his record collection to play music on the hifi system. The breakfast options were designed To rate this house as stunning would be inaccurate because it is simply magnificent! Go and visit and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

The house was a beautiful home. The view to the beach with the Gormley art instillation was spectacular. Very quiet. Bed was so comfortable, had the best night sleep. Breakfast was delicious. Hosts were lovely, had lots of included little extras for their guests to enjoy, gave some great ideas for sight-seeing and where to eat in Liverpool. It was an amazing one night stay, wish we had booked for longer. Will definitely stay again if we are back in Liverpool again. Thank you so much.

Nothing, was exceptional.

Aberley is a unique and beautiful house in a peaceful location with a great view of the Mersey estuary, but within easy reach of the centre of Liverpool (just a 10-minute stroll to Waterloo station and then a 15-minute train ride). Each room was brimming full of character and had plenty of space...including the enormous bathroom (n.b. not en-suite, but right next to our rooms). There was a full-sized snooker table in the basement, as well as a darts board and a great hi-fi with plenty of vinyl records to choose from, all of which we enjoyed on one of the evenings during our stay. Our host, Jonathan (aka "Lord Aberley!) was a delightful fellow full of anecdotes and recommendations of places to see in Liverpool. Oh, and he produced delicious, freshly-prepared breakfasts.

It's genuinely hard to find fault with Aberley House. We would happily return given the opportunity.

Jonathan is a fantastic host and made us feel truly welcome at Aberley House! The House is stunning and the location walking distance to the beach is perfect. The room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was not an en suite but we had a private bathroom and this was not an issue at all. Both the bathroom and bedroom were extremely clean. Jonathan set us up in the billiards room for dinner which was fantastic and fun. Breakfast of eggs benedict and eggs florentine was also delicious! Jonathan truly cares about his guests' experience and shared with us helpful suggestions to check out in town such as the ironmen installation on the beach.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in April 2022, and we loved it. If you're looking for a stay in a quiet, pretty neighbourhood, in a house with a lot of character, this is perfect. The house is beautifully maintained, holds on to all of its old-world charm, but is also very comfortable and clean and convenient. Crammed - in a very nice way - with a lot of interesting art and books. Our host, Jonathan, was always on hand to answer all of our questions, and give us tips about where to go and what to see. Lovely breakfasts (we had plenty of choice as vegetarians), cooked fresh and set up for us in a dining room lined with amazing books. Our bathroom was not attached to the room, it was across a corridor, but it was reserved just for us so no discomfort on that count. You'll probably need to climb a few stairs to get to your room, but that was not a problem for us. About 15-20 mins taxi ride into Liverpool city centre, or a 10-12 minute walk to the train station where you can catch a ride to Liverpool Central. A bunch of restaurants and shops on the same road if you don't want to go into the city. And a five-minute walk to the beach, which has plenty of character of its own with Antony Gromley's "Another Place" art installations. Would definitely go back if we were to get the chance!

Gorgeous house with a fabulous host. Room was great with a really comfy bed. It really didn’t bother us that our private bathroom wasn’t en-suite and a trip to the bathroom was a great excuse to admire the artwork and features of the property. We needed an early breakfast which Jonathan was more than happy provide, and wow, what a delicious breakfast it was. Aberley House will certainly be my first choice if I need to stay in the area again in the future.

Nothing. All our needs were met.

This is a magnificent house in an excellent location with ample free parking on the road outside. We had a warm welcome from the host, Jonathan, and loved all the interesting decor as well as the large, comfortable bed and the delicious breakfast. The basement houses a full-size snooker table and still has room for a TV lounge!

Sadly, I had not understood that the bathroom was not en-suite. We have sometimes before stayed in b&bs where a private bathroom was adjacent to the bedroom rather than en-suite, but in this case we had a choice of one that was one floor above our room, or one that was two floors below. I realise that this decision meant that the bedrooms were huge and the original beautiful features maintained. Bath robes were provided, but if, like me, you are keen to have a en-suite or very nearby bathroom, you need to bear this in mind.
