Location near to The Student Village was brilliant, handy to have parking on site. Room had everything we needed. Definitely returning

Bed was exceptionally squeeky. Made me sound an absolute legend. Maybe need to tighten those bed frames

July 2023

Found the hotel easily although it did not look much like the pictures on booking.com. The bushes and plants around the front and the back of the hotel were more than a little overgrown. The room was OK, although when we ran the water in the sink, it came up through the plughole in the shower tray. Might have just been our room. Bed was comfy and pillows OK. We walked across Sefton Park and down to Lark Lane. It was a Friday evening and the place was buzzing. Lots of places to eat, drink and watch the "Liverpudlians at play". At 10pm, they remove the tables and chairs in the street and everything goes inside.

Overgrown bushes in the car park. Very narrow entrance (down the side of the building) to the car park at the rear. Notice on the door going int breakfast saying that due to food shortages in the shops, the choice of breakfast items might be limited. This was 8th July 2023 when there were NO shortgages in the shops at all. Breakfast was very basic - 4 choices of cereal (cornflakes, rice crispies, bran flakes or some very anaemic looking muesli), cheap sliced bread (and a toaster), jam, a couple of bits of sliced ham/salami and some very rubbery looking cheese.

Very friendly staff - both at reception and in breakfast room. Bedroom was spacious and beds quite comfortable. Provision of fan appreciated as very warm. Free off street car park at rear of property felt very secure.

Overall very good. A few points of constructive criticism aimed to support improvement, certainly not complaining. Noisy pipes (I think) during night disturbed sleep. An extra pillow on second bed would have been nice. Door handle on inside of bathroom door is very close to frame and almost caught hand in frame. Position of toilet under eaves slightly tricky for tall teenage son!

In a good location.Breakfast was the best continental I couldnt do better my favorate cherses and cold cuts. Thankyou very much indeed Mountford Hotel.

The €50 damages charged to my account at check in for one night to be refunded in approx 5 days to 10 days. As a pensioner I just couldnt get my head around it as other hotels dont take this money on a one noght check in .It will be refunded and I am informed that this is not personal and happening to everyone even master catds and Ammet card holders are being fined on check in .If thats an appropriate term .This Has never happened to me before not once in my life. But the hotel was lovely the staff where very respectful and very nice.Thankyou.

I had a wonderful experience at the hotel. It was conveniently located and the staff was extremely hospitable and accommodating. The breakfast provided in the morning was diverse and catered to all dietary needs. The hotel and room were immaculate, cozy, and peaceful. I had a restful night's sleep, and the shower was refreshing with a spacious bathroom. Additionally, ironing boards and irons were available at the bottom of the stairwell for guests to utilize. Ample parking was also provided, ease of access, and a bus stop right outside to take you into town and see all the sights - I loved it so much I've rebooked. We went for Eurovision and although I wouldn't ordinarily pay £200 for 1 evening, the hotel did not ramp prices up like all other hotels, and I loved it so much I've rebooked for my husband's birthday. The check in and check out times were really good too - it wasn't a mad dash to get up in the morning with time to eat, shower and gather our belongings for check out.

Can't think of anything negative at all!!

This is a really pleasant hotel set in a very quiet location. Secure, off street parking to the rear of the property was an appreciated extra. Rooms are well presented and spotlessly clean and large enough to work from the room. Stunning modern bathroom facilities with a powerful shower; this will wake you up! Very comfortable, large bed within a very quiet area meant I had great nights sleep during my two night stay. Vast array of items on offer for the continental breakfast was a nice touch. Hotel is a short 10 minutes walk from a leisure quarter that offers quality restaurants and bars. Will recommend to business colleagues

Cannot fault this hotel

Nice choice of cereals and other options for a continental breakfast but would have been better if it was a cooked breakfast. Room was nice if a bit dated. Bus stop being right outside was convenient to get to city centre and back.

Windows in room didn't seem closed properly which led to a bit of a draft and the curtains did not close properly so were left open a bit at night. Also a bit of damage near the door which could have been covered up better. Wasn't keen on paying a £50 deposit on top of cost of room even if it was refunded after my stay.

Staff excellent. Room was very good (the usual bits of wallpaper coming away. Some curtain rings missing) Very clean Patio doors out onto a small private timber decking area (Should be perfect in the summer) High security locks Has a pool table Small bar I believe it's located close to some nice parks, the Mersey

Didn't realise the hotel didn't serve food? Only continental breakfast. Nearest shop/café/bar restaurant 15 mins away Small bar well stocked and was told that it shuts when the residents go to bed. Then told they like to close it between 10.00/11.00 o'clock Could not adjust the temperature on the radiator in the room. It was either like a sauna or cold (Didn't bother me)

There weren't to many stairs (we both have mobilities issues so this is a huge thing for us) When we reported an issue with a tile in the bathroom it was looked into straight away but the gentleman on the reception desk even asked if we were happy to let them go into the room while we were still there which was so lovely.

No clock on the wall, only one side of the double bed had access to a plug socket. These are VERY little things to pick at and did not affect our stay at all

This hotel felt family run and had lots of character. The rooms we got (2x superior twin) were exceptional. Lots of space, light and heat you could could control and ensuite (shower and bath) with lots of hot water. The bar was welcoming and had my favourite gin (Whitley Neil, rhubarb and ginger) and there was space on the ground floor to meet other family and relax. It was also located within walking distance (approx 1 mile) from Lark Lane (which is the best place for food &bars) and also had a bus stop directly outside for the city centre. Although the hotel didn't have a restaurant in it, you could easilly order in food if you wished. The staff were friendly and accommodating and there was a pool table in one of the sitting rooms on ground floor. There was a little outdoor area accessible through old-style patio windows, that you could take your drink if you fancied it though it was snowing when we were there.. this just added to the charm but I imagine lovely during the good weather.

If I had to comment on anything that I didn't like - it would be the fact that they don't do tea/coffee during the day or from the bar. There is a kettle with sachets and uht 'milk' in the bedrooms but it's not the same as proper tea and coffee. If they installed a coffee machine in the bar and kept a kettle/fresh milk etc for tea, It would raise my rating to 10/10.
