Everything went above and beyond our expectations, we had booked the suite for our honeymoon trip and it was simply amazing. Sue was so accommodating with us as we had booked a good year in advance and even arranged for us to have some lovely treats in our room. Highlights of the room was definitely the bed and amazing bath, both were comfy and generous in size. The view from the room really shows just how close you're to Matlock bath and we couldn't of asked for a better location. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of traditional foods. It really was a prefect stay and we felt very much at home, thankyou Sue.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

The room was a lovely size and very clean. The bathroom was huge ... it had a walk in shower and beautiful roll top bath, complete with candles! Everything was impeccably clean and very welcoming.. The breakfast was perfect, my partner had the full English twice and it was cooked beautifully. We also had a selection of fruits and natural yoghurt which again was fresh and lovely. The dining room over looking the valley and the views were amazing. Would highly recommend a stay with Sue and Dave .. both super welcoming and super lovely :)

Nothing - I loved it all !

The location can be a little tricky to get to (you will need a car or taxi) as it is quite high up/ steep and narrow roads so be careful but because it is high up, you get great views, it is quiet and feels like a getaway from a busy city. The hosts (Sue and John) were very pleasant, friendly and hospitable. The room itself is clean, comfy and warm enough. The final bonus was the housekeeping and included breakfast (all locally sourced) which was cooked by the hosts. Overall, an excellent stay and would recommend to anyone else who is visiting Matlock/ Matlock Bath.

Parking spaces are a little difficult to manoeuvre into - just a note to any future travellers rather than a dislike.

The warm welcoming reception from the hosts, Sue and John. The assistance and advice they gave on what to see, where to eat etc etc. The stunning views from the property across the valley. The sumptuous breakfast each morning was a perfect start to the day. The freedom to come and go as we wished, whatever the time of day. The full range of facilities available to us in our room and en-suite bathroom. Very quiet location and very much at one with nature surrounding the property. All in all, excellent accommodation

With all the many and appreciated facilities available to us in our room (the Dovedale Suite), it is perhaps rather nitpicking to mention that the room itself felt a little cramped with little floor space available or tops of cupboards / chests of drawers, or even a chair on which to place items, for example overnight such as clothes, contents of pockets or excess bedding etc. To be fair, I suspect the Dovedale Suite may be the smallest in area of the three suites currently on offer, but at the time of booking it was the only room available. The en-suite bathroom is more than adequate!

Lovely homely feel and set in a gorgeous location with spectacular views. Comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The Bakewell room was very well presented, clean and tidy throughout. Lovely communal indoor and outdoor seating areas for guests to relax too. Breakfast was fabulous offering a fab selection to choose from, offering the freshest produce too - right down to fresh apple juice (not from concentrate!) The hosts Sue and John were brilliant and so friendly, providing excellent tips and recommendations for things to do in the area. Thank you so much!

Everything was spot on, one thing to be mindful of is the property is on quite a steep hill - but this did not put a dampener on our stay at all.

Breakfast well what can I say, fantastic, to the point where my wife loves poached eggs, but can't eat them runny, well John cooked then to perfection, and first time he was asked ever by any guest. My wife was well impressed, great result and that was our first breakfast, following days same again, made my wife start to a very busy day(s). Absolutely fantastic welcome on arrival, offered tea and a slice of cake, wow such great hospitality from real friendly hosts. They are great hosts John and Sue are, nothing too much trouble and advised where to visit locally. Great stay great people great location. We will be booking again for 2023 trust me!! Absolutely brilliant weekend, and a big thank you to Sue n John, you made our weekend, especially so for my wife as it was her birthday on the 23rd, you both excelled with a great customer experience. Clean and cosy room with a very comfortable bed. Lovely personal welcome, very informative welcome pack. Breakfast was amazing would definitely recommend. Local restaurant recommendations turned out to be excellent.

If we had realised we would have booked a room with a better view, we will remember this next time but this was our own fault.

Breakfast was excellent, varied choices to cater for all. Views are stunning across the valley towards Matlock. Rooms are spotless with comfortable beds with all you could need for a comfortable stay and more. Sue and John are so friendly and made us feel very welcome on our arrival with tea and biscuits in the sitting room and throughout our stay. The weather was sadly not for outside but the garden and the surroundings are also beautiful.

Carparking could be better. There is room at the front of the property for a car or two, but the bigger parking area is a little down hill from the entrance. So you will need to walk up the road from there. BUT i believe John is already working on improving this, so all in all nothing to complain about here. A lovely stay.

We enjoyed the fact we could leave the car and go walking. A short walk from Matlock, Abraham Heights, train station. Great view from the room, which was comfortable and spacious. A bonus having a fridge. Very welcoming hosts. Great food at breakfast.

It wasn’t very easy to access power points which were behind set of drawers, and behind the fridge for the hairdryer, But these are just a small criticism.

Our stay at the Gables was just what we needed . We were made welcome straight away the rooms are clean and really comfortable. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had in a B&B 10 out of 10 . We will definitely be going back .

Parking was a struggle only because it was dark when we arrived. if it was day light we would have known to drive to the top turn around drive back down much easier that way to park .
