Church Villa B & B

Everything was great. Lovely old building in a quiet setting. I was made very welcome by the owners who made me a cup of tea when I arrived. The single room was very quaint and ‘olde worlde’, ideal for a lone traveller. Everything was spotless and comfortable and I had a good night’s sleep. There is a nice guest lounge and the breakfast room is lovely; a conservatory with a vine growing through with grapes on it and there was a good selection for breakfast, whether you choose hot or cold. I would definitely recommend Church Villa if you are visiting the area.

Very friendly couple who go above and beyond to help. Beautiful room, great breakfast. A lovely gesture getting a tray of tea or coffee on arrival. Being able to sit in a lounge or breakfast room and also use the garden was brilliant. Tea tray in room even had a gluten free option which is the first time dietary needs have been catered for ever and shows that the booking request was read and noted..

Hilary and Graham are exceptional hosts. Really friendly and helpful. They were there to greet me when I arrived. So kind to give me lifts to nearby place to pick up dinner, and to the hospital where I had my training course. Interesting conversations. Love the fireplace with actual fire in the evening :) Very relaxing. Plenty of selections for breakfas - had full English breakfast + yogurt + homemade bread. Overall, really impressed with the experience and will choose to stay again if I'm in the region.

Church Villa was easy to find, also additional directions were communicated by Hilary prior to my arrival which was a nice touch. I received a warm welcome on arrival and was shown around the house and where breakfast would be. It was nice to see other guests enjoying a roaring fire in the lounge! My room was comfortable and well presented with everything I needed. Lots of personal touches and additions such as a variety of tea,coffee and some little treats. Both room and bathroom was extremely clean and the bed very comfy. Breakfast was ordered the night before with a generous selection to choose from. I couldn’t fault the food, it was delicious with large portions! A lovely stay for a tired walker.

This is a proper old fashioned B and B!! There is a lounge guests can use with a lovely real fire and our hosts came in and chatted with us. The property was lovely. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. We also liked the night light in the room....very useful in an unfamiliar place when getting up to the loo in the night! I also liked that it wasn't ridiculously hot like a lot of accommodation. And that the hosts have considered green/environmental issues.

The village had nowhere to eat in the evening ....I hadn't researched this so not really the fault of the B and B but we did have to drive a few miles to have evening meal. I would also suggest that an outdoor light would be helpful to see when walking out the front and manoeuvring in/out of parking in the dark.

Very attractive and relaxing 400 year old accommodation. Quite location with seperate living room and dining area overlooking the secluded garden. Great breakfast in a no hassle, stress free quiet B&B. Plenty of easy off road front garden parking. Recommended and would use again. National Trust - Kedleston Hall and Hardwick Hall within an easy drive.

Everything about Church Villa speaks of exceptional attention to detail and anticipation of guests’ needs. The decor of the breakfast room and lounge (open fire) is cosy and welcoming, in keeping with the character of the property. A wide range of local information, games and toys is available in the lounge and on the guest landing, where there is also a small fridge. The bedrooms are well designed and spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches such as a bath robe and hot water bottle (not needed, even though it was cold outside!). Breakfast is ordered in advance; it was excellent and incorporated local products. Above all the hosts, Hilary and Graham, clearly enjoy looking after their guests. I travelled by public transport; they met me at the bus stop and gave me a lift to my course the next day. I can not recommend Church Villa too highly and intend to return to enjoy the many picturesque local walks.

Lovely character property ideally located for Derbyshire and Peak District attractions. Warm welcome from hosts Hilary and Graham felt like home from home, very knowledgeable about the area. Comfortable bedroom and the bed was beautifully made, good breakfast choice the full English was very tasty. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

Such a lovely place to stay. The hostess Hilary was so attentive and welcomed me with a much needed pot of tea. I really enjoyed sitting in the guests lounge with a roaring log fire for the evening. Their home is full of character with an interesting history. The room was perfect - everything I could possible need was supplied - and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious with home made bread. I will definitely return if I am in the area again. Thank you.

The welcome was warm, Hilary and Graham were excellent hosts: they were friendly and very helpful, but not intrusively so. The breakfast was splendid, the room was beautiful and lacked for nothing. The building itself and the gardens were delightful and the location could hardly be better with easy access both to the town of Chesterfield and to the glorious surrounding countryside and its numerous attractions. There was sufficient parking on the premises which were opposite a small (but "high"!) church which was distinctly quirky and, quite probably, unique.
