Cairn Hotel Newcastle Jesmond - Part of the Cairn Collection

The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, nice bathroom and I used the extra blanket. The location was good being central we could get to all the places we wanted to visit easily. It did the job. There was an ironing board, hair dryer and fan in the room if needed, and the room was adequately heated. We did not try the breakfast so I can't comment on that.

The chrome tap cover in the shower for the water temperature fell off, but the temperature could still be adjusted. I prefer bedside tables with drawer and cupboard rather than the three legged table but that's just a personal preference.

The price and location. We stayed in the Carlton hotel across the road from the Cairns as the rooms are bigger there. The room was spacious with a nice ensuite. The breakfast was quite nice, a variation on the scrambled eggs everyday would have been nice though!

The room was quite stuffy as we had to close the window due to a late night bar being directly outside. Earplugs were offered however to be fair. The car park was a bit annoying as you could find yourself parked in front of someone and asked to move the car early morning to let them out or being blocked behind someone. This fortunately didn't happen to us and we were lucky in a way to find a hotel with parking! I would stay again despite these slight annoyances as I know about these things now and would be prepared.

I stay here quite a bit when I visit friends in Newcastle. I adore the restaurants and the breakfast is top notch. Usually at home we struggle to get comfy and sleep, in some hotels this has also been the case but the mattress in our room was quite springy and apparently just what we needed as we slept like babies!

Is exactly the same as when I started coming some years ago and some bits are a little fatty now. Our bathroom door was a bit warped at the bottom as the open shower cubicle does soak the floor in a slightly awkward bathroom layout but a great shower albeit.

The receptionist was very kind and helpful upon our arrival. The area was predominantly a students' area, so it was very safe, and the train station is very close by (low public transport fees as well). We were staying in an additional building <1min's walk away from the official hotel. There were some repair works going on when we arrived, but they weren't loud and everyone was friendly and made way for us to move our car out of the parking when we were arriving & leaving. Overall, it was a good place to stay, especially considering the low room prices.

I was asked to pay an additional fee of £17 (I cannot remember what for anymore), which had not been communicated to us prior to our arrival. Parking spaces are limited, but the staff do their utmost best to accommodate for it. They offer free earbuds at reception, which I suggest asking for, as there was a very strange vibrating noise outside around 4 am and we couldn't place it.

Room - very nice,clean & tidy,but you can hear the sounds of the other rooms very loudly.specially the upper floor room. Breakfast - excellent Location - Its a great location.but they may offer you a room on another building,which is on the other side of the road.that is not a problem at all,if you get a parking there,(only few slots are available and first come first serve basis)at the back of the building.otherwise you need to park the car at the back of their main building and need to walk to the other one.this is bit difficult with kids. I got my parking there:)

The two ladies who greeted us in reception were excellent. Friendly, accommodating, with warm personalities. A credit to the hotel. Nearby parking was arranged for us, and was much appreciated. The room we stayed in was really lovely. Quirky style, clean and comfortable. The evening meal in the hotel restaurant was very nice, too; with good staff in attendance. We would stay again for sure, especially as the area is so nice, with plenty of bars, restaurants, smaller shops and coffee shops, beautiful buildings on display; and only being a stroll to the closest Metro station.

Breakfast was a little bit of a let down. We had to wait to be seated for around twenty minutes - it was busy so we understood. The restaurant serves the sister hotel also though, and I'd possibly say it isn't big enough to do so easily? Maybe again, due to it being a busy weekend and it might often be fine? The selection of food wasn't great - especially for anyone vegetarian/vegan. Staff at breakfast not as hospitable as in the evening unfortunately, but again, they were very busy.

The location for us was excellent, not far from the racecourse where we were attending. There are numerous bars and restaurants nearby along with other shops and facilities. Breakfast at the adjoining restaurant was excellent, with the staff being welcoming and friendly.

We stayed in the sister hotel across the road, and the only issue we had was that the room was so warm. The radiators were off, but it just seemed that the heating was on throughout. A fan is provided, which just seems to move hot air about, made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

No breakfast. Location was key. I booked the Cairn but was given the Carlton due to twin beds. Reception in Carlton and exterior not great compared to Cairn but room was fine, shower good. No where to hand towels though and only 6 hangers for two girls !!!

Somewhere to hang towels up. Somewhere to Hang coats, only 6 hangers!!! Be good to be able to Leave our cases when checking out. Had to wheel them around for four hours after check out. Exterior ugly, reception bleak compared to cairn hotel which is what I had booked.

The décor, atmosphere, staff & restaurant were amazing. Reception was spot on with attentive & professional staff. The room was small but had good facilities like air conditioning, mini fridge, iron & ironing board, music playing, desk with lamp, black-out curtains, subdued lighting plus a suitcase stand all the little extras you can do with whilst away from home. Breakfast was perfect, everything you needed, from the full help your-self English breakfast to toast & jam, mini pastries, fruit plus cereal & fresh fruit juices along with fresh ground coffee & tea.👌

The beds were very hard to the point of uncomfortable & left with bad back pains. Comfort was not in the beds at all during our stay. There were NO glasses in the room or bathroom for drinking water. Had to ask for some. Surely this should be standard. There was only one bath towel one bath sheet & one hand towel?? Random! 2 of each would be best when it's a double room.

Sound proofing was excellent. I was concerned when I walked through a noisy beer garden to reach the front door, but there was no noise in my room and I had a peaceful night. It was great to have car parking in a hotel in Jesmond, chosen for that reason. The location is great, with many excellent restaurants nearby and a brilliant bakery.

A tiny, minor point, but I found the milk sachets were tricky to use and spilt the milk around the cups.if this is the only aspect of my stay I can find to comment about, it must have been good all round.
