Holiday Inn Telford Ironbridge, an IHG Hotel

Staff very helpful and friendly. Really makes all the difference. Staff that I met and engaged with were a credit to you. Nothing too much trouble. Facilities very good, loved having access to the pool, sauna, gym etc. Nice park next door and close to Telford Shopping Centre. I was worried about not bringing an iron or hair dryer but it had the attachment and was powerful, very happy with that. Shower good. Air con worked. Tea/coffee supplies, if you ran out you could ask for a top up. Used to stay at Mercury but very happy with stay, that I would happily stay here again on my next trip down.

Wish the bed and pillows were firmer but that’s just a preference.

Great location, not too far from the town centre and right next to the park which is great for families with children of different ages, you can also access through the gate in the hotel's garden. Room was interconnecting which was helpful for a family of 5. Pool is fantastic, most of the staff were very polite and helpful throughout our stay.

Upon arrival the receptionist told me I need to book through Holiday Inn directly next time, I had booked through Booking.com which was the best price for a family on a budget. Then she advised me that the two rooms I had booked were not interconnected, even though I had requested this and received email confirmation that this had been arranged prior to travelling. The lady checked again and confirmed we could have the rooms together. We would have also liked to include breakfast for the 2 nights, but it was too expensive for our budget as the kids eat free did not include my older daughter (15) here where it does in other hotels. Bed's are not very comfortable.

The staff were excellent although we arrived past midnight, stressed and tired from our other reservation being cancelled without notice. The staff were very understanding and pleasant throughout the night and day. Sergei, Mandy at reception, Ange, Christie and all the kitchen, and restaurant staff are Genuinely welcoming and friendly. I managed to grab a chance to relax amidst my daughter's cheerleading competition just round the corner which was handy, convenient and perfectly situated. We shall certainly use the hotel again, next year. My daughter is Autistic and staff were very understanding and supportive The late check out, being a member is very handy for my daughter who cannot be rushed or cope with pressure. Being able to take her breakfast up to her and staff very accomodating with seating arrangement at dinner time, finding us a quieter spot. Thank you all. Sadna and Meg

The pool booking system and limit to an hour can be a bit limiting as it's hard to fit at our convenience. We therefore ended up missing out. But it's not enough to put us off. We were very satisfied, given we booked this around midnight in Friday 26th of May 2023, as an emergency, we could not have asked for more. We were pleasantly surprised.

Great dog-friendly hotel with a pool for the kids. There’s a shallow little baby pool in the pool for very young kids. You are supposed to book a one-hour slot to use the pool and they seemed busy but we always managed to get a slot straight away. They provide pool towels and you can purchase goggles, sinkies, etc.When we were there the first and last hour of the day were adults only which I think was 7:30-8:30am and 7:30-8:30pm. If you have a dog you can’t take it into the main restaurant but you can eat outside which is nice and also I think you can eat inside in a separate area but it was closed during our visit. Everyone was super friendly!

There is no food or room service sold after 9pm

It had been a very hot day and the air conditioning in the room was so refreshing. Also, our Executive King room was near the lifts, which is helpful, as my husband uses a walking stick. The staff were all friendly, helpful and polite, check in was easy (although another younger guest ignored the fact that I was checking in - I am 64 and only 5ft 2ins, so perhaps he did not see me!!!}, and the bar and restaurant staff were excellent. The menu in the Olive Tree restaurant was also better than expected (the sirloin steak was cooked to perfection) and we managed to get a bottle of South African (not Chilean) Sauvignon Blanc wine, which was good.

No negative comments to make.

Reception, bar, pool and restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and fun for the children. The restaurant was very clean, well set out and the food was very good. Children eat free and the staff made sure we knew this. The children loved the table football. My partner was unwell during our stay and the staff did everything they could to help make my stay a little easier.

The bedroom was very hot, even with air conditioner on. I realised on the second night that the radiator was faulty and could not be turned off. This resulted in a very hot bedroom. When I went to reception at 1am, I was offered a different room but that wasn't practical. I did borrow a very large fan. It was better than nothing but very loud.

Room 253 was a small suite that was very spacious for two with plenty of drawer, cupboard and storage space for those staying longer even for a month. This was really a trip for convenience as we preferred not to travel to Telford on the day. We used the hotel for one night. We had dinner, bed and breakfast as a package and everything was excellent. The bathroom was excellent, a large bath, masses of hot water, a walk-in shower and plentiful supply of towels. The bed was enormous for two. The food in the restaurant was comparable in price, quality and quantity to meals we had eaten the day before in Sandon, Staffs. We didn't make use of the leisure facilities, but the courtyard by the restaurant was very attractive and there is access to the local park from the hotel grounds.

Despite there being no heating switched on the room was very warm. A large wine (which is actually small (175ml or thereabouts), and a double Bombay gin, mixer, ice and lemon was £21.96 in total. A steak dinner in the evening is priced at £28 in the menu but there is a £10 supplement, which the restaurant staff did bring to out attention.

-Overall, there was nothing inherently wrong with the hotel, in fact it was very nice for our 1 night stay! -The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. -The leisure facilities were fairly modern, ample, and accessible, with enough for any leisure enthusiast. -Food at breakfast was pleasant, with plenty of options over a decent period of time. -Location was great for Telford and the surrounding area, with Ironbridge on the doorstep and the rest of Shropshire too!! -Also it was nice to have private access to the nearby park. -Staff were friendly and helpful.

-A couple of fairly minor things, such as the room looking dull and dark, even when it was bright sunshine outside. A facelift for the rooms would be perfect! -Whilst the swimming pool was adequate, it’s an odd shape and considering it’s a leisure centre, you can’t properly swim laps unless you are the only one in the pool!

The location of the hotel was in close proximity to the Telford International Centre for Wales Comic Con. It was a decent walk away from the station too (not great in freezing weather, but nice enough). The restaurant was lovely - we only had breakfast, but I liked the look of it and it felt like there was enough tables, but also enough room. Breakfast was amazing and it had been a LONG time since I had a very good fry up. The staff were friendly and helpful and even though my original train was cancelled, I let the receptionist know, and she was totally chill with it. She was lovely to talk to. Room was great. Decent shower - it was hot, which is what matters. Excellent location and great stay. A little expensive for one night, but understandable given its location to the International Centre. At least we didn't have to get a taxi from the other side of the city.

I wasn't sure if the carpet was cleaned, as there was old banana stuck to my sock. And I accidentally dropped a crisp under the bed by the leg and when I grabbed it, it was covered in dust and hair - that is my only gripe.

Excellent location, next to International arena. Breakfast lovely and room perfect.

When paying for breakfast the second night, I mentioned to the gentleman at reception that although my daughter was 14 and classed as an adult, she had only eaten a bowl of rice crispies and a glass of apple juice at breakfast the day before, as there was nothing else she could eat. I was told that I should collect two plates myself when going up for breakfast and so get double for myself………not a very helpful comment!
