The Water Rat Ironbridge

The hotel is ideally situated within a 15 minute walk alongside the river Severn into Ironbridge. Breakfast consisted of cereals and full cooked English. Each table had their own jug of milk and fresh orange. Our room was in an adjoining building only 15 seconds from the main building, the room was large overlooking the car park and gardens with a view of the river Severn. The room was clean with a nice shower over the bath. Our room had tea and coffee making facilities, there was a small fridge with fresh jugs of water and milk in the shared entrance hall. We shared 4 separate sharing plates for lunch on the day of arrival, nice selection of small bites ideal for 2. Dinner was well cooked with good portion sizes. All the staff are very friendly and provided a great service.

Ideal location in Ironbridge with a 10 minute walk into the town. Nice and quiet at night for a restful sleep. Set in lovely grounds close to the river with a lovely beer garden and outside deck. The rooms are spotlessly clean and we stayed in room 4 which was the small double but quite adequate for the two of us. The bathroom was accessible via a small staircase. Very quirky but we liked that. The cooked breakfast was beautiful and very fresh. The staff are second to none and go out of their way to make your stay memorable.

Friendly, welcoming staff with good local knowledge. Super food - breakfast and evening meals. Quiet location with easy, nice 10 min waterside path walk into town. Good car parking. Rooms were clean and facilities for getting fresh milk and water for hot drinks. Pet-free (good for those of us with allergies, with apologies to dog owners!). Easy access to local areas - the surrounding area is so lovely and plenty for the outdoors, history buffs, and foodies etc.

no wardrobe but sufficient hanging space so not a showstopper by any stretch!

We came for the 90th birthday celebration of our very dear friend and his family. The lunch provided was great, good choice on each course and the staff coped admirably to serve 25 of us. As we live a 7hr drive away we stayed on overnight relaxing in the beautiful room with cups of tea on hand. Breakfast the next morning was served by Sue, an excellent host, friendly and helpful she served us with a perfect breakfast. We hadn’t known what to expect of the Water Rat before we came but found it to be charming, comfortable and very welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

There was only one minor thing that could have been better and probably would not apply to many guests. As we had had a superb three course lunch we wanted only a sandwich or similar in the evening. However there was no option for this as sandwiches were only served at lunchtime. We had to wander into Ironbridge to find something lighter than what was on the menu.

Perfect little stay in Ironbridge, we recommended the Water Rat to all our friends on our return. The breakfast was really tasty, the room was really cute, quiet and quirky and only few minutes away from the city center (there seems there is a path along the Severn taking you there, unfortunately it was flooded when we stayed.) Definitely a must visit!

No shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom. No remote for the TV and the volume was quite loud by default. The pub closes early during weekdays (9pm it seemed).

Nice location. It's a short walk from the centre of Ironbridge along the River Severn. Nice garden and plenty of parking. Good bar and restaurant on site. We had dinner the first evening and the food was really nice, and reasonably priced. We also had excellent breakfasts both mornings, really great, especially the Poached Eggs :) The service at breakfast especially was excellent too. The room was cosy and comfortable, and although it was a bit weird going upstairs to the bathroom it was spacious and very clean.

Nothing. We thought the road noise might be an issue as the road was just outside, but we hardly heard a thing.

Fantastic breakfast with lovely atmosphere served by a very pleasant lady. ( thankyou for your at tention with a lovely smile!) Room was clean with fluffy towels. Ben matrice was a little too soft but we did sleep well. We ate in the River rat both evenings food was good quality. The second evening was very busy and service was therefore lacking unlike the Friday which was excellent. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return again.

Great location a short (and lovely) riverside walk from the centre of Ironbridge. Excellent refurbishment of the pub with bright modern decor and detail. Good sized bedroom with tea/coffee making facilities with access to a communal fridge for milk and bottled water. Nice view over the pub gardens towards the river. The staff were excellent - particularly Lee the manager who worked like a Trojan throughout our stay. Excellent breakfast.

Owing to illness and staff shortages the pub and restaurant had to close the first day of our stay but there’s plenty of alternatives in Ironbridge.

Great location with pub garden overlooking river. Slightly away from main village so quieter location but easy 10 minute walk to the Iron bridge and quaint shops. Fabulous bedroom beautifully decorated and well appointed with sitting area. Plenty of power points. Access to fresh milk and cold water from fridge in foyer. Main pub area is modern and comfy. Very friendly staff who, unasked, provisionally booked us a dinner table for our first night as they were busy. Wonderful food. So thoughtful. Always happy to go beyond the call of duty.

Nothing we didnt like just disappointed that the pub closed for food at 4.30 and then for drinks at 7.30 both Sunday and bank holiday monday.

Great location for Iron Bridge, comfortable room, nice little extra touches, fresh milk and water and a tea pot, best fish pie I had in a long time, only order the humus and olives if you are starving we shared one and still didn't manage to eat it all. And a super breakfast both hot and cold.

Shame the bedrooms were in the building next door, if it was linked then it would be perfect. Although it is only a few paces from one to the other and it would not stop us from visiting again if we are in the area.
