Characterful historic hotel with well-sized quiet and clean rooms. Good quality of furnishings, with lovely white cotton bed linen and white towels. Well located within walking distance of Shifnal. The bar area had bags of character with beautiful wood panelling and a very pleasant front garden. The hotel was amazing value for money - given the low price we paid.

Some staff were rather disinterested and lacked any customer service training. Having said that some of them in the restaurant were friendly and welcoming. The bathroom floors were extremely slippery when wet. The hotel is in decay, but that would not deter me from staying there again..

I literally only booked the room on the morning of our arrival, not knowing what time we would arrive but hoping for 6.30-7.00pm. I requested a parking space and a double room with ensuite facilities. We arrived almost on the dot of 6.30pm, easily found a parking space and made our way to reception. On checking in we booked a table for 8pm in the restaurant, were warned that there was a large Wedding Party Reception taking place and the bar may be busy. We were directed to our room after a quick chat about attractions in the area, certainly the Severn Valley Railway looks like a "Good excuse for a return visit". Our room was upstairs in "The Lodge" and was lovely, with a good sized TV, plenty of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits cleverly tucked away on a sliding shelf inside a cupboard. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed proved to be very comfortable. We went down to the restaurant area and the chap serving us could not have been more friendly and helpful, even getting drinks for us from the bar and having time to talk to us about our journey and visit. The staff were all very busy but all had time to take time to talk to us. I laughed at the bar man, when initially I thought he was walking along, stooping slightly, holding the hand of a small child, in my defense I could only see him from just above the waist up, it was only when he got to the gap in the walkway I could see he was rolling a beer barrel along - I knew what he was doing on the second and third trips which occurred while we were still in the restaurant LOL. Clearly the Wedding guests were a thirsty lot, but they were all well behaved and didn't disturb our visit at all. The location proved to be perfect for our purpose and if we ever have to return to this area we will certainly try to stay here again.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was spacious. The food in the bar was excellent and it had a great atmosphere. It was a short walk into town so the location was perfect for us. There was plenty of parking space and the surrounding gardens were lovely.

The hot water was not switched on in the room so the shower was cold but I didn't realise until after I had had a shower that the switch needed to be on as it wasn't labelled. I paid a holding deposit on arrival and then the total amount was deducted afterwards, This is normally fine and I have done this several times before in other hotels, however it's now 4 days on and the holding deposit is still pending. I know that this is to do with my bank also but I think a better system should be in place as I am now low on funds.

We stayed at the Park House Hotel for 2 nights. Our double room was one of the most spacious we have stayed in and was clean and well equipped A minor issue is that there were some scuff marks in places on the walls however as the hotel is being refurbished throughout, and as each room is done, this minor issue will be resolved. The breakfast is buffet style except for eggs, black puddings and tomatoes which are cooked fresh to order. The staff are exceptional, friendly, clearly well trained, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is very good and there is ample free parking We have booked to stay again in 4 weeks time.

The bedroom was very comfortable, larger than most hotel rooms with plenty of space in the wardrobe to hang clothes. Iron and iron board supplied along with a hairdryer. Warm without being too hot. The food was very nice and reasonably priced. The location of the hotel is within 5 mins drive of the motorway, and in a small but quiet town. I found it to be more than acceptable.

My only issue was that my room was on the main walking route to the bar and restaurant so there was a lot of noisy people at certain times of the evening. I could hear the music in the pub. It wasn't a deal breaker I was just aware of it due to the location of my room. If you require somewhere quiet then ask for a room away from that area which is what I shall do if I stay there again.

Staff were amazing, attentive and friendly. Great facilities, food and price. Rooms are lovely and spacious.

Hair on dressing table chair not been cleaned from previous guests and jacuzzi bath had some grime around the dials aswell as had to clean a couple of hairs out aswell. Rooms are lovely and everywhere else spotless but rooms now need updating decor wise as some tiles cracked, although been repaired in bathroom, they are visible. This wouldn't stop me staying again stopped in other rooms there before and they were spotless. Currently renovations going on so sure the rooms will be updated soon.

Location was excellent for a family event. Set in attractive grounds with plenty of parking space. The dining room was cosy and although small was never crowded. All the staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant.

Our room was spacious and comfortable but was sorely in need of maintenance attention. There was mould around the bath top, the fan didn't work and several light switches and sockets which didn't work. There was a low mechanical noise from outside which was very disturbing through the night.

The staff were amazing! This is a family owned hotel, and it shows. The staff are friendly and so helpful - one staff member (very chatty and friendly) who was in his 50s - 60s, had been working there since he was 14! They all seemed very happy to be working there, and this increased the warmth of the stay 10 fold. The hotel itself has lots of wood (doors, floors, bannisters), which gives the hotel an old feel (felt a bit like the Borringdon in Plymouth, but nowhere near the price). We were a fairly large group with children and a dog, and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel for our after christmas get-together. The hotel is in the town, but has enough green space and big trees, that you wouldn't know that until you walked down the drive and out of the gates. The rooms are very comfortable (no mouldy tile grout/silicone in bathroom - all fresh and clean), and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in (and I've slept in a few). We had a meal in the restaurant, and it did take quite a while to arrive, but it was all freshly cooked. A great place to stay, and we all agreed that we would go back there in a flash.

For a cheap and cheerful overnight stay for work purposes, this hotel really comes up trumps. The dinner in the hotel dining room was outstanding (chose the pork belly with cider jus and sweet potato mash). The staff are all very friendly and welcoming - seems to be a high retention rate too as I've seen familiar faces over the couple of years I've been back. Breakfast is help yourself, but a good range of hot and cold and again well cooked. For the price, this is a great little find, with easy access to the M54 making commuting to either Wales or the West Midlands simple as.

With the icy weather the car park was pretty lethal. They had gritted, but it really wasn't doing the job, although I can't really hold them to account for the weather!
