The room was very clean, warm and comfortable and we had an excellent view of the river across the road. We visited their other pub (The Malthouse - just a stone's throw away) and the food menu was cheaper and more like a traditional pub's menu. We had breakfast at The Malthouse, discounted because we had stayed at The Swan, and that was excellent. The staff members were lovely.

The mirror was missing from the bathroom. There were screws in the wall to which to attach one, so evidently the missing one had been broken. The shower was cold and the shower head needed to be cleaned, as the jets were partly blocked and water was spraying in random directions. Dinner didn't live up to our expectations and was pricey considering how much we paid.

The fact that they helped you with any request that you asked them was a real winner with me

To be fair the only negative was that the shower could only be used in a hand held way as there was no shower rail or screen/curtain but also to be fair the rooms are kitted out in a victorian theme so it's not that much of a negative. I was at a wedding with an early book in required which is not a guarantee but they had the room ready which made things easier for us as we only had limited time to get ready. We came back early from the wedding and had a few drinks in the pub itself which was a nice friendly atmosphere and the breakfast in the morning was beyond expectations (picture included) all in all a really pleasant stay

The room (number 5) was lovely (though my wife did find the glass floor a little disconcerting and its not a room for those who have access issues) Clean and fresh and well appointed. My dinner - a basic chicken and chips was great, with a fabulous shropshire blue cheese sauce as an extra. Less impressed by the burger, which, because of the brioche bun and the coleslaw did rather fall apart into a mush and the burgers were a little overdone. Not that big a beer selection, and I would probably decamp to the sister pub the Malthouse, especially after experiencing their breakfast the next day, which was superb, and to have a breakfast for two that good included was amazing.

erm... not a lot. the wifi in the room was rubbish, that's about it

(+): - comfy room, clean and comfortable - location is good; it is just across Museum of the Gorge and its car park where the bus stop is. Tips for those who don’t have a car and have to rely on public transport: Take the number 8 bus to travel to and from Telford, and to and from Jackfield Tile Museum. They don’t run every hour so check the timetable carefully. Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron is about 18 mins walk (uphill) from the hotel. - Breakfast is excellent.

(-) : - room is quite dark. Would be lovely to have better lightings. - The inside of the kettle is very dirty. Would be lovely to have it cleaned before new guests arrive. - No tissue in the room (although toilet rolls are provided). - Very narrow shower space. Might be difficult for those who are tall or big. - Because the rooms are located above the pub, live music can very much be heard from the room. It stops at 10 pm.

Swan taphouse was lovely. I stayed in a very characterful room made so, with it's age and the malting features which were displayed in my room. Friendly staff and evening entertainment with the ukulele group was good fun! Both evening meal and breakfast at it's sister property next door was delicious! I'd definitely stay at the Swan Taphouse again. Ideal location for Ironbridge by the river.

I can't say there was anything I didn't like. The only issue I had was after I'd gone for an early morning walk, I couldn't get my key to work to get back in through the side entrance. So I went for breakfast and by chance the maintenance chap was there and came back with me and fiddled with the lock so I could get back in! He said he was going to get it fixed imminently. I hasten to add, this isn't a complaint! I myself live in an old property and so I understand the quirky nature of these places!!

Great location, food, value, and lovely staff.

The night I booked (Friday) there was live entertainment in the bar. There was no sound proofing, so - although I decided to stay in my room - I could not have a good evening and it was hard to hear the TV for the news coming up through the floor.. Not good! I understand pubs need to make money, but I felt my stay was compromised as the pub took the money for my room without telling me there was going to be live music that night, and there was no sound proofing. The music ended at 10.45pm, and the bar was quick to quieten down, but I'd had a long, very, very hot journey from London and wanted a quiet, early night. If I knew there was going to be a gig that night I woukd have booked on a night when there was no music.

property was lovely and clean. The only issue was there was cobwebs on the ceiling that could be just wiped down with a duster on the windows could do with a good clean but other than that everything else in the property was perfect. We had an ironing board with iron and a hairdryer beautiful old wooden beams are warm and stunning views across the river seven will definitely be staying here again

there was a small step at the top of the stairs, which caused my friend to fall over, even with the sign, but that is the only thing we didn’t like property property, and obviously the cobwebs, but the property has been kept in its original state which is beautiful to see

I arrived to a wonderful ukele concert. The atmosphere was fun and a lovely welcome after a hard international journey. The staff, Ross, Jack, and Kenzie were especially warm and welcoming. I loved my room with the historic view of the malt house under the glass. My next room was my favorite with a view of the river. Thank you for that very special treat!!! The breakfast was exceptional! Kenzie makes the best cappuccino and the eggs Benedict was incredible!

The staff on the following days were ok. The walk up the stairs was hard for me. (but they helped bringing my luggage up, so I’m grateful!) I did not like waking up to a closed hotel. That was a bit uncomfortable, especially if you needed help checking out. Very strange. And when I initially wrote a message it was strange to not get a response.

Immaculately clean room, I struggled with stairs, but young staff were superb to help; iron/ironing board, hair drier, tea/coffee facilities, complementary bathroom stuff. I couldn't get the tv screen to work on terrestrial channels, but them I am a technophobe! Restaurant was brilliant, great food, and quiet.

I was surprised by live music below me 7.30 - 10.00 when I was trying to grey an early night (after a long day's driving). I was surprised to have to walk maybe 200 yards to the sister hotel - the Malt House for breakfast. but it worked wekk on a sunny morning (what if there were heavy rain?) But breakfast was superb. I found the external of the Swan shabby. Outdoor furniture looked never to have been cleaned/treated in several years, there were discarded paper cups, glass bottle, cardboard box and much other rubbish, and weeds, in the car park. Worse still, there was an extractor fan (presumably from the kitchen) which was exuding black grease, (and very noisy) to the extent that black grease wad dropping onto the ground. Yuk! And many broken paving slabs adjacent to the footpath.

Very comfortable and spacious family room. Quirky building (up and down stairs, this way and that corridor), very nice pub with beer properly looked after. People seemed to be enjoying evening meal. Excellent location just a few minutes walk from the iron bridge, cafés etc. Small carpark. Excellent breakfast in the next-door-but-one pub.

Shower was in the bath and needed care because it was hand-held with no shower curtain. Our room had skylight windows, no view. Very limited parking, shared with other pub. We were lucky to get a space (peak season).
