We had a fantastic stay, everything from the breakfast, the home made cakes, location and amenities were lovely. A lot of care and attention to detail had gone into making the place a wonderful holiday retreat. We stayed in room 4 and it was light, airy, spotless and comfortable.

Unfortunately there was a minor inconvenience, which was in the form of a noisy pipe or boiler which resulted in a surge of pressure every 20-30 mins or so. It's a wonderful old building, so these sort of noises are to be expected, but by the 2nd night (we stayed for 5) it got a little irritating when trying to settle in bed for the night. Ear plugs would be advised, (as we bought on the 3rd day)

Our stay at the Fairfield House was lovely! Everything was sparkling clean, the host was so nice and helpful, gave us advice on hikes and was in general super attentive to details. Delicious breakfast every day, with freshly roasted and brewed coffee and freshly baked cakes every day. There is also a lovely garden where you can enjoy a drink and admire the lovely landscape the host carefully looks after. The location was great, very close to local pubs and restaurants and there were plenty of them!

Everything was just great, really!

Staying at Fairfield House was perfect. Nick was a fantastic host. Our room as beautifully decorated, neat, clean, and had enough storage that we could fully unpack. The bathroom was spotless and had a fantastic power shower. In the morning, there was a huge range of breakfast available - from cereal, muesli, fruit and yogurt to a full cooked English (which was delicious). Our room also had tea and coffee making facilities plus the added bonus of a communal mini-frige on the landing with freely available fresh milk, cold bottled water and freshly baked cakes; it was a real treat, and really added that extra touch. When the sun shone, there was even the most beautiful garden with plenty of seating to relax in.The location was perfect too - a short stroll into the little town itself and a short drive from lots of other visit-worthy places, eg, Grasmere, Ambleside, Kendal. All in all, a fantastic little break.

There really was nothing not to like, although I wouldn't want to take my partners pick-up truck into the carpark - it would have been a squeeze!!

This is a little gem perched up the hill only a stones throw from the high street. Beautiful garden, clean and comfortable room & Nick was a great host. We were missing breakfast due to checking out early to go a hike, he kindly made us up some sandwiches and some fruit. Was very thoughtful and kind. Exactly what we needed during a 4 hour hike. Alison wanted to note the extra touch of having a fridge in the hallway with water and milk and a yummy treat too.

There really wasn’t anything, for what we needed it for it ticked all the boxes. Only small issue we had was that on the first night the shower head kept dripping, this was noticed the next day whilst housekeeping was in and a plumber was called out although it wasn’t fixed for our stay it wasn’t much of a problem.

A lovely hotel with beautiful gardens, Nick the owner was welcoming and friendly and cooked a delicious piping hot breakfast, lots to choose from, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, toast and preserves!! Homemade shortbreads in room and homemade cake every afternoon, fresh milk and water in a small fridge on the landing - all complimentary. Room cleaned every day, all in all a brilliant stay.

The only little niggle is the location, it's only 2 minutes from the pier but up a really steep hill, it can be reached another slightly longer way, still a hill but not quite so steep. No problem for "fitties" or if you take your time.

- Perfect location! In the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere & only a short hike to one of the best viewpoints in the Lake District. - Our host Nick was brilliant, very informative and helpful. - Beautiful Garden in summer for a midday break. - Accommodation sets out complimentary cakes and drinks for a midday pick me up. - Breakfast!

- The most direct route to the hotel is on a rather steep hill (however Nick has a great workaround route that isn't steep and doesn't take that much longer, plus you get to look at some nice houses along the way).

Upon arrival the owner, Nick, was really welcoming and allowed us to check in earlier than expected, which we appreciated. Our room was spotlessly clean. Along with the comfy bed and immaculate bedding, the room had so many little extra touches and a modern ensuite with a great shower! The breakfast was really tasty and looking out onto the well kept garden made it even more enjoyable. We have stayed in many Guesthouses during our visits to Bowness, but this is one of the best and would definitely stay here again. Thank you Nick for your hospitality and well done on providing a lovely place for guests to stay

Everything was fabulous. Nick met us at reception and showed us to our room. He was really welcoming and explained all that we needed to know for our stay. The room was amazing. We had the top floor which had a fabulous view of the gardens and lake. All the little extra touches like homemade biscuits, cake and fresh milk for coffee made such a difference. Breakfast was perfect and we had great weather to be able to make the most of the gardens after. The location is great as it is literally just the next street up from the lake and all the best shops/bars. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thank you Nick.

The only downside is the property is on a very steep incline, so be aware for anyone that has mobility issues.

The room was comfortable, the facilities were great, the staff were lovely and friendly, there was a different cake left for guests each day and bottles of water in the fridge, the water pressure in the shower was amazing, there's a hairdryer and hanging space and a TV, the potted shrimp breakfast was amazing, as was the full English, the location is amazing as it's just off the high Street so near the amenities but away from any noise, the garden and house are beautiful. 10/10!

Nothing at all! It's up a little bit of a hill so if you have mobility issues that may be problematic but it's only a few yards

The cooked breakfast was excellent and there was a great range of cereals, yoghurts, berries, bread/ toast and preserves to hear yourself to. The freshly squeezed orange juice was exquisite! Nick was the ultimate host. Not in your face but if you required anything he was there and all the lovely little touches made our stay including home made complimentary cake and shortbreads. Fairfield House was exceptionally clean and the linen, towels and toiletries were quality. The garden was so beautiful with lovely furniture to relax in and all in all we couldn't fault the house or our host. Thank you Nick and we'll definitely be back!
