Merton House

Lots of little extra touches in our room. Mugs and cups provided with a great selection of biscuits, bottles of water and chocolates too! Comfortable bed and spacious bright room. Breakfast was excellent each day and our host very kindly cooked just what we wanted. We were offered refreshing of our room daily and nothing was too much trouble for our host. Location was perfect for us, 20min walk into town, waterfront etc. Parking at accommodation is helpful and we were able to leave car there when we wanted to walk into town. Cannot fault this accommodation, much more comfortable than some hotels I have stayed in. Definitely worth top marks!

Shower was slow to drain but it wasn't much of an inconvenience.

I chose Merton for the location - had a ticket to the Factory Live concert and it's about a 10 min. walking. I was pleased from the place for the following reasons: the room was nicely decorated and clean - that's the basics. But Mark, the owner, went the extra mile and added small chocolates, water bottle, cookies in a personal pack, coffee accessories, and bathroom accessories, and I liked the attention to small details. Mark is a perfect host - on one hand he is personal, asked what time I wanted my breakfast and what to prepare, and on the other hand left me for my business and respected the privacy and quiet I needed. The short distance from Factory Live is a huge advantage, and Worthing itself is very nice town to have a 1-2 days trip. If I ever find myself again in this part of England, I'll sure be happy to return to Merton Guest House.

Everything was perfect!

Lovely welcoming host and lovely sized clean and comfortable room. Short distance from the start of the Southdowns 50 ultra hence why myself and another guest stayed here. Approx 20min walk from seafront and pier. Lovely cooked breakfast day after the ultra and lots of lovely little finishing touchrs in rooms. Would recommend staying here and would definately stay here if I come back to Worthing or run this ultra again.

Absolutely lovely place to stay, Mark is very welcoming, we travelled from Bristol and our room was ready when we got there which was just after 10am, thank you for a lovely stay Mark ☺️. Will stay longer next time. Town is a short walk away, plenty of places to eat too. Beach is also a short walk away, it’s a pebble beach and goes on for miles.

The only very small thing I would say is the water in the shower is not hot, I’m a cold person and love hot showers. It won’t put me off staying again, just me being a cold bugger.

Everything about Merton House, was fantastic, the host Mark couldn't do enough for you he went above and beyond to be honest, everywhere was spotlessly clean, although I'm not really a breakdown person the quality of a full English breakfast that I saw others eating looked amazing, would definitely go back and fully recommend a stay there. 5/5 Location couldn't have been better.

There was nothing at all that I disliked.

Very big rooms, very clean throughout with lovely little touches like bottled water in rooms, shampoo, body wash, hand soap, etc. Mark was a great host and nothing too much for him regarding breakfast.

We had a bedroom on the front which is very noisy from the main road traffic, so take ear plugs or ask for a room at the rear of the property. A little mini fridge would have been a nice touch to keep the water cold and the chocs from melting!

The breakfast was good. I did not say I was vegetarian on booking but the host happily provided a vegetarian one. The room was large and the provision of a TV was very helpful.

My only criticism would be the traffic noise, in spite if the double glazing. The first night I hardly slept but that was partly due to a stressful journey. The second night I slept very well as I was very tired. My room was overlooking the mane road, another time I would ask for a room at the back of the house if it is possible.

Mark and Helene are amazing hosts! Mark made me feel incredibly welcome. He catered to my breakfast preferences and always went above and beyond to ensure I was happy. I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast spot enough!

The bed was a little too firm for me

Mark was a fantastic host! The property was easy to find, on site parking and the room was nice and big and really clean. Breakfast was really tasty too. I’d definitely stay here again if in the area!

More than pleased definitely the place to stay in Worthing. Mark the proprietor was a star, very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was excellent the full English was incredibly prepared and delicious. We normally stay at 4 star hotels but from now on we wouldn't stay anywhere else Worthing.
