- Nice staff - Clean and airconditioned rooms - Decent breakfast for free - reasonable travel times to most touristic attractions

After a slight delay I arrived after 5pm which meant there was no staff to open up the front door when I rang the bell. The code for the front door I did not receive in advance. After connecting to wifi in a cafe nearby, I e-mailed them and got help very quickly.

The Melrose hostel is centrally located, clean, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly (maybe a little too friendly at times :p) but overall very accomodating. The beds were tall enough to sit up in, and the bathrooms and kitchen were very clean too. Bus stops right outside are able to take you everywhere you need to go, and there is a shopping center with Target (plus groceries) a 20 minute walk away.

The beds need curtains - like so many other hostels all over the world are providing these days. Even though you're in a room with only women, it is nice to not have to be woken up by their early morning or late night activities. A curtain helps with this. When I hung my travel blanket (very small) so that it would provide me this privacy I found a passive-aggressive note on my bed later from the owner that told me that I would be kicked out if I didn't take it down. I thought this was ridiculous and, in some ways, treated us adult guests like children. I politely obeyed this demand - but only during the day - at night I put it back up because at the end of it all I am a paying customer and it isn't my fault if this hostel hasn't modernized to align with the norms of hostels worldwide.

Very clean, close to Korean town.

Just by the road, can be noisy in the evening. Some people are too high and caused police to come at 4am.

The locations wasn't bad, it's like 10 min walk from Paramount studios and from there you can get buses for everywhere in LA. It isn't a friendly area to walk, have a food or something but is very well located. The room is huge with comfortable beds, big lockers and a full body mirror inside. The bathroom was ok and the toilets too. They are separated and you need to rent towel (they give back your money). Have a great common area with pool table and a kitchen, some snack machine and a TV but was empty during my time there because of covid.

The room was a little bit cold and noisy and during my first night I was feeling cold so I got another blanket from a empty bed then the guy from the staff said he will charge me for use it. The problem was that nobody was there at night so. I couldn't ask for a new blanket or pillow.

Always super clean. The staff is pretty nice too and helpful. They have a nice size room with lockers for the all 12 all female dorm room. They have a mixed room too but I haven't stayed in that one.The Showers and restrooms are out in the hallway. They provide a decent breakfast each morning. There is a nice area for seating in both the living room area and by the pool table. The hostel is in a good location of Hollywood on Melrose and Western.Close by Paramount Studios and shops on Melrose(Lebrea and Fairfaix)Bus stops out front.

Street noise from cars on the road.Just wear ear plugs.

I like the facilitiy.the breakfast and the toilet and showers. The location was fantastic near the city centre to the main bus stop.

I did not like the room as beds sheets and towels were not changed for the number of days that I stayed.Few of the staff were not too open and friendly . I was not comfortable sharing a room with one of the staff working there.Desipte all these experiences, the hostel is very good for travellers that can stay for a few days Finally, the tourist information provided was not sufficient and clear enough for someone new to the state. I recommend for improvement with staff approaches to clients and tourist information be made available as it was not clear and I have to struggle to find my own way around.

The bathrooms are usually very clean and the breakfast is good value for money, the rooftop has an amazing view of the Hollywood sign and the hostal has a very good location, close to different attractions, even if you don’t have a car, it’s fairly easy to use the buses and Ubers to get you where you need. You can also find restaurants and convenience stores near.

This hostal is good in paper, but if you are looking for a hostal that has a travel vibe, this might not be your choice. The hostal doesn’t host any events or encourage outings, also keep in mind you might be staying with locals from California who aren’t really in the mood for traveling or experiencing new things as they are basically staying in the hostel for long. The staff wasn’t exactly super helpful or happy, which I found to be a turndown. Beds are comfortable, but blankets are very thin.

there is a bidet in the women's bathroom that is just *chefs kiss* (temp control and dryer setting). i appreciated how much effort the staff put into making the place feel welcoming and hospitable. everyone i stayed with was respectful. the space was clean, the common area was easy to navigate and never too busy. lockers were abundant

earplugs are neccesary as the room faces the street and there's a lot of traffic noise. the room was cold so you will likely need to ask for an extra blanket (the staff don't hestitate to give you one)

Super clean place. Restrooms are out of the rooms, shared, but still it was super clean all the time. Kitchen and rooms super clean also. I like the variety of fruits in the breakfast. Quiet place, nice to sleep well. The mattress sheets are amazing. The elastics prevents from getting out and they are super soft. Friendly and super kind staff. The guy from Louisiana is super hardworking and helped me with some doubts. Super gentle. The others two guys from the reception were nice also. I loved the door being locked by numbers, so I don’t need to take care of a key or card.

The location isn’t too close from touristic places. I miss the feeling of hostels and people traveling alone. Some tips or events. The female shower is terrible. It needs urgent maintenance. Too little water. I suggest to add an yogurt, egg, butter or cream cheese on the coffe (or at least give the option to have it paying extra fee)

Melrose Hostel was a very nice place where I spent my stay in La. The facilities, terrace and the room was good. The staff were great. They help me out in everything I needed. Breakfast was ok but I missed some proteins. I would suggest to be served some boiled eggs. The location was good, bus stop close by and the area was quiet. It is a place relatively close to the main touristic places however La is so vast and it will take around 20 min by car depends what you want to visit to. I just felt like to be sharing a homely place with wonderful guests. Thank you very much for making me feel at home. I would recommend it to my friends. Hope to get back soon.
