Honestly this was our very best stay on holidays/working trips ever. I mean ever ever! Since booking until checking out everything was just amazing and its hard to describe in words. Historical house has an amazing magic that you can only feel once you are in it. We stayed at Olympic suite. For me as former olympian the history of this building and specially this room had a very special feel and I am so happy for this experience. The location is hard to beat - literally 20steps from the Venice beach and yet very quiet both during the day and night. Breakfasts are top quality, bed, sheets, towels, amenities and design details through the room and whole buildings are just at the very very top. Specially the bad, pillows and sheets were literally the best we ever experienced and we have been to hundreds high-end places on all continents. James from the reception was amazing, helped us every day with amazing recommendations of places where to eat, what to see, where and how to get there, etc. We forgot glasses and shorts in the room and it has been send to us by fedex the very same day. Will definitely come back and spend more time there. If this place is fit for your budget, do not think about any other place to stay. You will not regret, I promise. Thanks VBH and James for this amazing experience and see you again. Petr and Veronika

Beautiful breakfast in a sunny nook in the morning, bed was very comfortable, overall vibe and decor was welcoming and comforting. The staff, in particular Robin, were extremely accommodating of my circumstances and were so kind to me; I was pregnant and traveling alone, and they allowed me to use the facilities (other than my room) a full day after check out due to my flight being cancelled and rescheduled for 11PM.

While I paid for a private bathroom, the bathroom was not in the room but down the hall. It was a very nice and clean bathroom but I wish that was made more clear when I booked.

Our room was perfect. It was large, clean, stylish, quiet and comfortable. So close to the beach, but away from the noise. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the house is beautiful.

Nothing. It was much better than staying in a hotel.

Breakfast was delicious! Assorted croissants fresh from the bakery, hard-boiled eggs, blueberry-banana bread baked in house, fruit, yogurt, fresh-squeezed juice, great coffee! And they accommodated us by carefully investigating what would be safe for my daughter who has severe tree-nut allergies. All served in a beautiful sun-drenched breakfast nook complete with window seats and overstuffed pillows. Pure perfection! Our room- King suite with balcony and ocean view- was like a dream. Spacious and inviting. The kind of room you want to spend time in. My daughter called the shower- life changing- it has two shower heads and a greenhouse window filled with plants- it feels like your are showering in a tropical oasis- not to mention the glass bottles of bath products with incredible aromatherapetic offerings. Location is perfect. We walked to muscle beach, the skatepark, various restaurants, great shopping and the Santa Monica pier. Highly recommend Meat on Ocean if you want an amazing dining experience! The staff at VBH was top notch- they learned it was my daughter's birthday and brought us sweet treats in our room! This place is a dream!

Everything was perfect!

I love love love this place. This was our second visit and happened to fall around the time of my birthday and wedding anniversary, so my husband and I decided to splash out on the Aimee McPherson Suite, which was admittedly, pretty pricey. However, the room was huge and well decorated in an elegantly understated way, (although has been redecorated slightly since the photos on Booking.com) with a very comfortable bed and a large window overlooking the tranquility of the garden. Breakfast is great - especially the pastries, or, if you are a health nut like my husband, the overnight oats. Parking is safe and you can leave your car there all day, which is a godsend. You really do feel calmer the moment you step through the doors of the Venice Beach House - as cheesy as it sounds, it is an oasis in the melee of Venice, despite it's unrivalled proximity to the Beach, which is literally steps away. I am currently saving up so that I can treat my 72 year old mother (who loves Venice) to a stay here.

Access to the wardrobe is a bit tricky, as the sofa was pushed up against one of the doors. The Aimee McPherson Suite can be a little noisy at times as it is next to the kitchen, but I am really stretching to find any cons to the place.

The house is an historic building from the early 20th century, it’s welcoming, taken care of and really well arranged, both on the inside and the outside. The room (ours had the private bathroom) was big and homely, with all the needed amenities. The location is perfect, just a few steps away from Venice beach.

Breakfast could be richer, with a little bit more options. Staff was present and friendly at check-in and during breakfast but pretty absent the rest of the time.

What a gem! We stayed in the Olympic suite downstairs . The room and bathroom were spacious. Outside is beautiful. Lush gardens and grass. The property is fenced in. Very private and safe. The property is steps away from the beach, restaurants, and mini marts. It's about 15 min walk to the heart of Venice Beach. There's a bike rental company as soon as you walk onto the beach if you don't want to walk. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

Oasis amidst the bustle of Venice. Easy access to beach and walking distance to good restaurants. Decor and amenities are lovely and in keeping with the age and architecture of the building. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful.

The walls are thin so if your neighbors in the building don't honor the quiet time hours sleep and/or quiet enjoyment of your room can be difficult. I spent 5 nights and the first two nights were a problem. But then they must have checked out because it was peaceful after that.

the hotel is in an excellent location - we could see the ocean from our bed. we had the pier suite, so we had very much room and a private bath. the other rooms had a shared bathroom - this is in our opinion unacceptable for the money (370$ per night). but in our suite we missed nothing, except maybe a vacuum cleaner - there was a lot of sand in the room. breakfast was verry little, but we missed nothing. nice and friendly staff and at night it wasnt that loud as the ratings said (maybe its louder in the weekend).

the sand in our suite - for 400 $ per night you could expect more cleanyness.

Lovely escape a street off from main Venice beach boulevard. Beautiful gardens and sitting/lounging areas. Parking was available for $25. Check in was smooth and we received lovely welcome drinks of bubbly with raspberries and some chocolates on the bed (although this might have been a Valentine’s special). We stayed in the Olympic room with King bed, plenty of room, full of rustic antique charm but with modern touches to make facilities more user friendly. Very clean. Fluffy towels. Good shower pressure. Breakfast was a lovely charming touch too. Bed was extremely comfortable, best night’s sleep!

The rustic wooden floors meant that anyone walking through the living area (which we were situated right next to as we were on the ground level) meant that it was very noisy, particularly in the morning when staff would come and go to and from the kitchen area which was right next to our room. They were wearing converse too so not even loud shoes. Earplugs had been thoughtfully prepared for us in the room, however it didn’t make a lot of difference. Perhaps a sign to put on the door to remind staff and guests going up/down stairs that there are guests staying in the room too would be useful in future.
