Best Western Premier Del Mar Inn Hotel

Cool little "boutique" style hotel in an awesome seaside community. Reasonably sized "mini suite" with a large comfortable bed and a full kitchenette (dishes/silverware, sink, fridge, microwave, etc.) All rooms have a small terrace, so you can sit and enjoy the cool ocean breeze. My room had a lovely partial ocean view (see photo): to address the earlier review that stated the only view available was of trees--that's not entirely true. It really depends upon where your room is located on the property. I was in the middle of the hotel. The property is essentially in a residential area & the trees are on the property of the home that sits directly behind the hotel (I bet you too would have massive palm trees on your property to block the view, if there was a 100 + room hotel facing your house). To get the best view you want to request a room that's on the far end of the property, the opposite end from hotel registration. (Also keep in mind this is NOT beachfront property, so you can still see the other homes in the neighborhood) Nice pool/Jacuzzi area & onsite cafe for breakfast/brunch Cool shops, restaurants, bars, within walking distance. The Del Mar Racetrack/Fairgrounds are 5 minutes by car (can walk, but it's a bit of a trek). Torrey Pines is less than 10 minutes away and it's about 20 drive to the exquisite beaches/shops/and other attractions of La Jolla

No serious complaints but just to present the full picture... The ice machine was broken (there is only 1) 4 days of my stay in the middle of a late summer California (105 degrees) heatwave. Nothing a $3.97-- 20 pound bag of ice from Walmart couldn’t solve. Since I had a freezer in the room, it lasted the entire stay. Also, I had to extend my stay a day at the last minute but my room type was sold out, so I had to give up my ocean view. Everything else about the new room was the same plus it had a nicer kitchenette. Lastly, the cafe closed too early (breakfast only--I'm not really a breakfast person). It would be nice to have a onsite option for lunch or dinner.

The property is clean and attractive and close to restaurants and a few blocks from the beach. The staff is very kind and helpful. I loved the little cafe on the property. The pool area looked great, although I never used it. The room was clean and comfortable and the tv was easy to use. There was a little kitchenette and the bathroom was nice.

I booked an "ocean view room" thinking I would be much closer to the beach. I don't think I'd spend extra for the ocean view again; while you can see the ocean, the room is directly over the parking lot.

For all who live rural nationwide but need quality medical care come to scripps La Jolla. This best western is in Del Mar almost a straight line and 10 minutes in a car to surgical and other facilities. Then so wonderful to see ocean as rest usually is required. Or for a beach surf trip. They have a small restaurant on site. Cool pool hot jacuzzi. Nice staff which is huge. Only reason I give a 9 is hotel has all kinds of nations flags surrounding building. But no Amaerican flag. Maybe I missed it. I’m not perfect. But I would like to see a flag higher and light up at night.

Nothing great.

Good location, fancy interior with a fridge&freezer, microwave, and a coffee maker. Cafe was in the hotel garden and breakfast was prepared on the request. Bottled water and other snacks were available there and also at the reception. I arrived a few hours earlier than the check-in time, but they offered me a room. Other employees (room cleaning and facility maintenance staffs) were all friendly and nice. I want to spend more time at the hotel on the next time.

The only point that was uncomfortable to me was that the hotel driveway was only available on the road from north (southbound). When driving from south (northbound), you have to make a u-turn at a signal. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

The room was lovely...clean, spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of storage space with a good sized closet and cabinets above the microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was large and beautifully remodeled with green granite and a glass enclosed shower stall. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we enjoyed the small balcony.

The walls seemed very thin. The man in the next room talked on the phone all night and continually woke us up, 3 out of the 4 nights of our stay.

Room was little dated, but good. Cute little balcony with sea view could have been better use, but we did not have sunshine for whole stay. Nice to have Keurig coffee machine and proper strong coffee first thing in the morning! (there was tea also). Bathroom has large counter for two people. Cafe next to the pool was really good. We had freshly made breakfast burrito and nice english muffin.

Hotel beds are often too hard for us. I know it is more popular, but I would really appreciate if hotels would have a proper extra topping as an option, to be fear. (thicker foam or memory foam for people with health issues). Hot tub wasn't very hot. Pool was cold, but it is March.

EVERYTHING!! This was a wonderful hotel/stay. The staff was amazing; friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I was able to check in early and check out a little late. AND I was given an upgrade to a different room. 😊 That was very much appreciated!! The parking was no problem, plenty of spaces, and they don't charge for parking like most hotels do nowadays. The room was very clean, as was the whole hotel. The view from my third-floor room was amazing! I will definitely stay here again, and have already booked another stay for my visit in October. I'm so very happy I found this hotel. 😊

Nothing other than having to leave!

East walk into town for shopping restaurants etc. and right on Camino Del Mar for easy car drive to everywhere including the highway so location was superb. The views of the ocean and sunsets out of this world beautiful. Receive 15% discount coupons to the coffee shop on site which was very good and the staff there were efficient and friendly. easy access to beach.

We arrived a day later than our original booking but I’d notified the property 2 days prior of this change through the Booking.com portal. Upon arrival they had cancelled our booking saying that they marked us as a no show and have no record or access to the Booking.com messaging portal. The one attendant said if I had not received a response directly from them that it should have been up to me to call the property to notify them. She was quite rude and they were struggling to get in touch with the manager to get direction as to what to do. None the less after some wait they eventually let us check in and the stay was great. Booking.com should be aware that some properties are not aware of their the breakdown in their communication platform.

As we were with rental car for a conference in San Diego, we tried to the use the flexibility and escape from the expensive San Diego hotels. We were prepared for peak hour traffic and parking problems in San Diego, but we had no issues and the suggested 'Park It On Market' parking in (downtown convention area) was not expensive and close by. The room had a nice view on the sea, but accessing the beach requires some walking due to an in between railway. Walking from the main Hotel street it quickly transforms in a lively boulevard with loads of nice restaurants. We stayed for a week and the room was tidied up every day.

The hotel was not very responsive to our messages via booking, but a telephone call resolved any questions we had on parking. The breakfast operates as a bar in a little building next door, and is a bit limited in choice and a bit pricy, the smoothies were good however and were sufficient for me.

Above ground parking and always a space to park. Room facing the ocean as requested. Comfortable mattress. the room safe was big enough to put my purse into which was unusual.

I stayed 10 nights and although I understand the policies on cleaning the room and getting new towels, I think there should be an automatic cleaning for a long stay. I shouldn't have to ask. I did ask for towels and new plastic and paper cups and got the towels but had to ask for the cups again. The room furniture arrangement was inconvenient but I don't know how else to arrange it.
