Del Mar Beach Hotel

The hotel is directly on the beach and you can't beat the location. There are 2 great restaurants located next door and everything in town is walkable from this location. There is a wonderful community patio with tables, lounge chairs, and gas fireplaces that overlook the ocean and is a perfect place to watch sunsets and or have an evening gathering. Like everything in Del Mar, this hotel is not inexpensive BUT what I truly appreciated all the little extras that were included in the rate such as parking, a complimentary espresso machine and filtered water bottle filler in the lobby, a complimentary glass of wine at check-in, and complimentary use of beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards! We also received DAILY Housekeeping which is very rare these days! The room was modern, spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff and owners were super friendly and always helpful. We will definitely be back!!

I really can't say there was anything we didn't like. The only items we would add to our "wish list" at this hotel would be 1: a microwave for the room (or even in the lobby) as we often had leftover food from dining out. 2. More towel hooks in the bathroom to hang towels and bathing suites - especially in the double queen room with 2 adults and 2 kids.

Location can't be beat, right on the beach! First time here and was pleasantly surprised at the neat modern rooms and very comfortable bedding. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels for the beach, and the coffee machine is great! Been coming to visit my daughter and family in Solana Beach for fifteen years and just discovered this little gem on the ocean. Will be staying here from now on.

The 2 room chairs are not that great for reading, but that's the only negative thing I could say and more than offset by everything else. My wife wasn't crazy about the open shower, but I thought it was fine.

Del Mar Beach Hotel was an excellent choice for our family - My one requirement for this trip was that our hotel should be right on the beach without costing a fortune, and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. It was perfectly comfortable for my husband and myself and our toddler and close to all of the attractions we hoped to see while staying in the area. The facilities were very cute and recently updated. We loved it!

I think the daily cleaning could have been a bit more thorough, especially being in a sandy environment. It felt like there was still a bit of sand in the bedsheets after the cleaning crew came through. The trash pickup right outside our door at 6-7 am a few of the mornings wasn't terrible, but ideally would have been rescheduled to a more reasonable time.

Well in Europe when you see 2 stars hotel you don't have high expectations. But in this case we felt here better than in the 5 stars hotel we were staying in Las Vegas. I am not an often traveler to US and have chosen very carefully the location and it was top. Next to the ocean, were I could jog in the morning and walk in the evenings, safe and with one of the best restaurants in the San Diego area. The room was like new and very comfortable, equipped with everything we needed including complimentary expresso in our room. The service was outstanding and every morning we used the expresso machine at the reception - again free of charge and there were good options for a lights breakfast, for a very reasonable price. Staff was very polite and helpful. Yes there is a train passing nearby, but it was not noisy at nights. Free parking at the property was very comfortable also.

Location was perfect! The town was so cute, with plenty of nearby restaurants and shops. It's close vicinity to San Diego. The room actually had housekeeping to refresh room daily. The beds were very comfortable. Lounge chairs and beach towels were provided. And if you book here you have to visit Richard walker pancake house, the have the best pecan baked pancake and its only 8 mins away. I'm ready to go back when it's hotter so I can enjoy getting in the water.

I needed an iron, and would prefer a full shower door. Nothing major, and I could live without both.

I really loved the clean, modern design of the rooms and the beds were quite comfortable. Shower temp and pressure was great and the room was spacious. I really loved the welcome drink, the fancy water and coffee machines (I only drink decaf so it was a bonus to find that on the menu!). And of course the location next to the beach is epic. Staff were friendly and helpful and I was very happy with the entire stay.

The only constructive comments would be on cleaning—it happened quite late in the day, and they didn’t take or replace used glasses or hang up the robe, which I would have expected. I also prefer to keep using my bath towel that’s hanging up (it doesn’t need to be washed every day). And the water didn’t taste great (I make tea so having pure fresh water is really important and it’s noticeable if it has a less than pure taste). Price is also a bit high for a standard hotel without amenities like breakfast or a fitness room, pool etc.

Location is phenomenal. The outdoor spaces are beautifully appointed. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Really only the parking situation is complaint worthy. They simply don’t have enough parking spaces to accommodate all the rooms. The resulting juggling of cars to next door is okay but you have to give the office your car keys if you’re sent to the alternate area. And if you’re lucky enough to park in the regular lot, every time you leave to go eat or shop it’s likely that you will have lost your spot when you return.

The beach is literally 50 steps (or less) from your hotel room. The staff was great- very friendly and courteous. Rooms are newly renovated and immaculately clean. Great vacation stay!

We stayed on the bottom floor and the occupants above us were pretty noisy until about 11:00.p.m. on the first night. Would recommend the top floor if you're an early to bed sleeper. Secondly there are bright lights outside the rooms (bottom floor) which ordinarily would not be an issue except the shutters on the windows don't quite block out the light. Kind of like sleeping with the lights on.

EVERYTHING! It’s right on the beach, walking distance to restaurants and bars, restaurants RIGHT next door, super clean, friendly staff, the Complimentary wine at check in for my honeymoon, the brooms on the doors for the sand on your feet, other beaches minutes away, Downtown SanDiego 20 min away, perfect location for everything, honestly I can keep going and going!

Only negative might be the tiny parking lot but honestly even that wasn’t really an issue. They have Valet and free parking on the street right next to Hotel so personally never had an issue with it.

I loved the location. It's perfect. The rooms are great, and I appreciate the staff being informative about everything the hotel offers. I also love the sand removal brushes and mats at the doors, amazing!

I think of just a couple minor things that could be improved was the beach towels, they just seemed to always be out. And then, just the cleanliness of the back patio area, it could have been monitored a little bit more, there was always some sort of trash left out or something spilled on the ground.
