Kimpton Alma San Diego, an IHG Hotel

The property’s location, balcony , overall design and amenities were great! The roof deck, awesome! You can’t beat the location!

The property itself was great. We didn’t like the process of checking in and the staff person helping us. It was not a clear from the offer from booking or the hotel that we would need to leave a $700 deposit! At check in they charged temporarily the full amount of the room for the 8 days we stayed plus the deposit and then we payed again at check out. We Normally wow would just pay at check-in or check out but holding our payment and also requiring a $700 deposit was excessive . The person helping us was not clear explaining to us the charges and it got very frustrating. No food room service m. I wasn’t able to eat at the hotel any day. Hopefully next time!

this is a newly renovated property in the gaslamp district. The staff were helpful and friendly enough. We liked the bar area and lounge area. We were surprised at how good the breakfast was. The room was pretty comfortable.

There should be more attention to details, especially in the room. The windows were very dirty and there needed to be some refreshing of paint, etc. It seemed a little worn. The little sofa in our living room area was very very uncomfortable. Also it was hard to get hot water in the shower. We didn’t care for the location. It’s nice that it is near the Gaslamp but there were quite a few hobos wandering around, and there was trash on the streets.

We booked a skyline suite! It was a lovely, clean suite with 2 balconies, one with folding doors. The decor is clean and modern with a boho-chic flavor with an open air lobby. Housekeeping did an excellent job everyday. We ate twice in the hotel, each time was delicious! The burger was simply amazing! Lastly, coffee & tea, hot or iced every morning was a nice bonus. I would stay here again.

I wanted to love everything, but I didnt! The bed nor sheets were as comfortable as I would like it. I am also accustomed to slightly larger suite with an area equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and a separate sink especially given the short faucet in the bathroom. There was a refrigerator but that was it. Lastly, the front desk service could have been better. We called down several times for the same items such as ice and an iron & board. Their response time needs immediate improvement.

We love Kimpton hotels because of how dog friendly they are! Our pup was greeted with lots of love and some treats when we checked in. The check-in staff was also amazing and helped get us an upgrade and champagne to celebrate our anniversary which was that day.

There was a horrible buzzing noise outside our room that woke us up at 3am and we never got back to sleep. I took a video and showed the front desk upon checkout so that they could hear just how low it was and they didn't seem to care. They just said "well, did yu call us last night?" Which we did not because it was 3am and we didn't really want to have to deal with people coming into our room. I believe the noise was a light right outside our window, so they probably couldn't have fixed it for us that night anyway. Just was a terrible night's sleep and I almost wish we hadn't been upgraded so we could have gotten some rest.

I loved how close it was to downtown/gaslamp nightlife. Just two blocks away and you can already enjoy your night away. The room itself was clean and comfortable to an extent. Valet to park your car were very friendly and helpful. Having the ability to request your car on your phone is such a nice convivence.

The two biggest downsides are the shades for the windows do not block the sun out well. We both were woken to the morning sky quite early and being on the top level, we did not have much surrounding building coverage to create some darkness. As well, there was a marathon happening two blocks away and music started playing at 6am. When we checked out the music did not travel as much, but up on the top floor facing the event, we could hear it all. However, that will most likely not happen to others during such a stay as this was all for a marathon. The shades though, that could be a routine issue especially up that high.

The King Bed and room were really big; Loved the window seat; Staff were on point 👉 with a gentleman @ reception going out of his way to check my room was ready given demands on duty manager housekeeping plus a woman providing me complimentary cocktails for waiting; Then another reception member enabling me a late check out by recommeding IHG membership benefits 👍 Cost comparison too seemed good value for money and I loved the location, a short walk from Santa Fe train depot and bang on Fifth Ave.

Nothing, it was all great 👍

- The rooms : comfortable with very plush beds and lovely toiletries. - The very central location : 20 minutes from La Jolla, Coronado or Pacific beach with an uber, maybe 7 minutes from little italy and the waterfront -breakfast : tasty with lots of fresh berries. They have a cool combo offer.

- the pool : not heaten so quite cold unfortunately but with tons of nearby beaches who cares? - we could have done with more closet space as we had a quite large quantity of luggage.

The property was very centrally located, with Gaslamp a block away. The rooms were very comfortable, large and clean. We got a one bedroom king bed suite for 2 kids and 2 adults. The layout was perfect with a gigantic balcony, full bedroom and bathroom, separate living room and a half bath. The mattress on the sofa bed was thick and comfortable. The staff at the front desk and concierge were so helpful and kind. A big shout out to Zoey who enabled a late checkout and even helped sign us up for IHG membership late on New Year’s Eve!!

No room service and hotel restaurant closes at 10pm. but it’s so close to gas lamp with unlimited food options, that it was okay.

The hotel was superb, very comfortable. Amazing bed, perfectly quiet climate control, great shower. The cafe breakfast was very good. The location was perfect for walking to the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, & the Embarcadero.

The hotel charged an unexpected $30 "Amenity Charge" for WiFi, fitness center, pool, and other things. We used the WiFi but not the others. WiFi is free in most hotels, so this charge was unwelcome. If you spend several nights at the hotel, this is kind of OK, but if you spend one night, it's not a good value.

The property is beautiful. the pool, my room, the lobby and cafe excellent. I would throw my wedding here. the staff was amazing from beginning to end.

no complaints really other than my last day there the house keeper knocked on the door and woke me up when I had a do not disturb tag on the door. & she continued to open the door even though I didn’t respond because I was sleep. other wise everything else was great
