Andaz San Diego - a Concept by Hyatt

The location in downtown San Diego was great. It is central to everything (freeways, Petco Park, the Gaslamp District, Seaport Village). The staff was very nice and attentive. And the room was clean. The rooftop bar, pool and atmosphere were top notch. The food was great.

I stayed in a room with two double beds. The room was on the second floor (room 231) and it had no view of anything. It looked out at some makeshift rock garden and the side of a building. This room was not commensurate with the 5-star designation that I thought I was getting. Additionally, the hotel is very close to the Salvation Army and there were many homeless people sitting on the sidewalk on the side of the hotel smoking various things. Not really 5 stars if you are afraid to walk on a street right next to the hotel.

I loved how comfortable the bed was. I felt like it was hugging me to sleep. I loved the air conditioning, the plasma screen tv, the fact that the snacks in the room were complimentary, as well as the waters in the mini fridge. I loved that the elevators and door to your room are activated only from your room key. I loved being able to see the view from the rroftop l, and that there was a comfortable sitting area and pool to enjoy. The bath tub we had was huge which was nice to soothe in. And we had a nice view. Overall, it was a nice experience especially since it was our first time in San Diego.

The parking was the only thing I didn't really like. You have to stop and pull over to the side of the sidewalk, but it is amongst oncoming traffic and the cars are parked all around the building making it difficult to pull over to check in. There is also no self-parking for guests who are checked in, only valet. Tye valet were noce folks, and I didn't mind the option to valet, but it was difficult since you had to stop in the middle of traffic for them to notice you. Also I felt that the price you have to pay to keep your car there overnight for each night you stay as a guest was way to pricey.

It was a very comfortable room. It's a great location for bar hopping and has some nice food places around to either grab something quick or even sit down. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

The room was smaller than expected but not a big deal. Also when using the shower for some reason when getting in or out the water poured out onto the floor idk if it was slow leaking out during the shower I would just notice it when coming in or out. The seal on the bottom just might need the be redone and the draining during/after the shower was really loud. One last thing is I notice what look like little blood spatter on the bottom window underneath the one that opens. I was also thinking it could be rust but didn't sound logical with it being on the window. I've been in housekeeping so I understand how it could have been missed due to that specific area being mainly cover by the pillar inside the room.

Bryan was nice and helpful at the front desk. Staff was friendly and restocked our room well.

It is expensive for the location and the "market" was crazy expensive. Private event prevented us from having breakfast or time at the pool on our last day, and we had time to spare before we left the city for the day.

Deborah at the front desk was fantastic. She was able to find a room for an early check in and she personally brought our bags to our room. When she arrived she asked if we were celebrating anything and I told her it was my friends birthday. She asked if she could send up a bottle of champagne which I happily agreed to😀 We saw her later in the day and she noticed we had other friends with us. She gave me a few more champagne flutes so they could enjoy it with us. She is a great asset to the hotel and went above and beyond to make sure we had special trip.

There was no server at the pool and the bar service was very slow even with 3 bartenders. Also we ordered a fruit plate 3 days in a row and it kept getting smaller and smaller. We pointed it out today and were given a new plate with plenty on it so that made it for it.

Toilet still had previous occupants marks under the seat. I try to make sure the hotel I select does not have a bath shower as I'm not a fan of. But somehow, I ended up with one even though the original selection didn't, and the photos showed a shower.

Beautiful property in the heart of downtown San Diego. Great location and atmosphere. Loved the rooftop area for cocktails and the view. The staff was very friendly and accommodating in the hotel. The food was delicious and they had a great variety of music.

The pool area. It was lacking in size, style and cleanliness. We had to go and wait at the bar to order any food and drinks and they never cleared the glasses and food trays from the poolside tables. They hardly had any lounge chairs and it was so small. It’s a far walk to the restrooms and they are in the middle of the hotel so we felt we had to put our cover ups on every time. If they had a server, better decor and got rid of one of the cabanas it would open up the area to have more seating and it would be so much better!

Hotel is located in downtown so there are bunch of good restaurant to enjoy. and free wi-fi was good.

I can tell why there was a ear plug beside bed... I stayed during weekend and it was too noisy to have good sleep. Also, House-keeping (make-up room) is available after 2 or 3 days staying, which is what I did not know beforehand.

The pool is much smaller than the photos show, but was fine for just hanging out in the water and having drinks

they were very friendly and accommodating and by far the quietest hotel I’ve ever stayed in and there was a huge convention in town

it was dark in the lobby and although the rooms have been updated the double occupancy rooms could use more bathroom space and privacy.
