Hotel Griffon

I booked two rooms--one for me and my wife, and one for an older (~80yo) couple who were cruising with us. The rooms were very small (particularly mine, as the other room was somewhat larger and nicer) but comfortable, quiet, and attractively appointed. They were approximately the same size as our cruise cabin would be! I was concerned about the hotel choice: given the location and the price, I feared it would be a dump, despite the photos/videos/reviews. The outside of the hotel isn't particularly reassuring either, but the inside is VERY NICE! The staff members were also VERY NICE and helpful. The continental breakfast was also much better than expected. The water dispenser and vending in the lobby were handy, as you otherwise face a quarter-mile or so walk for a store. The hotel is adjacent to a restaurant, which we enjoyed very much, and has views of the Bay Bridge, the Embarcadero, and many other excellent restaurants. Parking across the street was secure and easy, albeit pricey (of course!). I would definitely recommend and return, particularly for people cruising out of Pier 27. It was super convenient and a great place to start our vacation.

Our room wasn't as nice as the room I booked for our friends (although both were fine). Neither room had a view: we stared at a brick wall from both rooms. The elevator is TINY! It was a struggle to get luggage up and down. Also, I hate when the sink is in a different space from the toilet--no washing between the potty and the door (although I guess one could turn-on the shower for handwashing).

Hotel in a fantastic location on the waterfront, our room had an amazing view of the Bay Bridge. Staff friendly and helpful, stored bags when we arrived before room ready and on day of departure. Lovely eatery attached (Perrys) with great food and good prices. Room was good, very comfy bed and all you needed, nice bathrobe. Coffee machine did not work but we were given another (that also had issues) but they had tried to sort it and they do free coffee in the lobby every morning so we just used that. Only odd thing is the bathroom sink is in the bedroom under the TV (rather than in the bathroom) - obviously it's due to space, but rather than a very shallow bath that can't be used as a bath would be better with a shower cubicle and the sink in the bathroom, as it's odd having a wash and brushing your teeth under the TV in the main bedroom while your partner is still in bed! ;)

The staff at Hotel Griffon was amazing- they always welcomed us with a smile on their face and went above the line of duty to make us feel welcomed. Location is also amazing being right off Embarcadero and just a few steps away from the Ferry Building. We also especially enjoyed that the hotel offers free coffee in the morning, and has fresh filtered water fountains on each floor which was great for refilling our water bottles. Although the room was on the smaller side the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.

Room was on the smaller side but was still comfortable for 2 people. Not much can be done on this point though since the hotel is older and rooms are small due to the age of the building.

amazing location. Saturday farmers market at the ferry building, bay bridge views, easy public transit from airport. even parking wasn’t so bad nearby on the weekend. staff are very friendly. I liked the aesthetic of the rooms. nice coffee and pastries in the morning.

the mattress wasn’t so comfortable, but I was exhausted so didn’t care. the entire hotel floor is tilted it felt a little like being in a fun house but didn’t really affect things too much I guess. definitely noticeable though. just a quirk I suppose.

The hotel is in perfect location. It is located in the middle of the city, across pier 14 and near pier 39 (walkable) and near for the other tourist spots. The room is super clean and the bed is super comfy. The river view room is breath taking. They have good restaurant in the lobby area. All staff are friendly and most specially the front desk people are very accomodating. They always wear that beautiful smiles every time they are with the guest. Special shoutout to the front dest officer Cristy and Michelle (I hope I got their names right) they are simply amazing!

Location was great - super close to both the company office and the waterfront, as well as BART. Shower water pressure was strong and the bath products were nice. Even though the room was small it was thoughtfully designed.

I wish the breakfast items could have included something a bit more substantial - the pastries and coffee were good but I needed to get breakfast elsewhere!7

Location. Walking distance to Ferry Building/Marketplace (1/4 mile) and Oracle Park (1.2 miles). Also liked that Perry’s Restaurant was downstairs next to lobby. My room was clean/comfortable bed and friendly staff.

No free parking. Parking is available in front to drop off/pick up luggage. Staff recommended to park across the street in the Rincon Center parking garage ($45-$47 per day with no in/out privileges). Parking is definitely a problem. Plan accordingly. Elevator is very small (can only fit 4 adults and its tight).

The location was fantastic! We ate breakfast at the Ferry Building every morning and it was extremely convenient to BART. The Exploratorium is also a short walk away. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We booked an Executive Suite and the size was comfortable for myself, my partner, and my 12-year old. The rooftop deck looked great but we weren't really able to take advantage of it due to cold, rainy weather throughout our stay. I've noticed that the prices at this place seem to fluctuate wildly, but we got what I thought was a really great deal for the room quality.

Our room was advertised as a "suite" but was actually one big room with two areas. The decor was not the most up-to-date, but I didn't really care about that. There is one small elevator for the entire hotel so sometimes we did have to wait. Ordinarily I would have just taken the stairs but I injured my knee right before the trip.

The location at Embarcadero is pretty awesome (few steps from the Saturday market), the hotel has that vintage style which I love it! And right down to the hotel sharing the lobby entrance there's a nice restaurant. I think is very convenient!

No park garage

The location was really good. Easy access to public transport, the ferry market/restaurants and it was quiet. (I had an internal room with a window that opened). The restaurant adjoining has good food, as does the Japanese place 2 doors down. They gave me an early check in after a long haul flight, which I was grateful for.
