Orchard Garden Hotel

Very clean and accessible from Union Square, short walk to the ferry building and market street. Really easy to access from the airport using the Train and then just a short walk. Although Kettles aren't in the room they are able to provide them and we purchased milk and tea (we were there for 6 days). Room was very comfortable.

The decor could be upgraded but thats just a personal aesthetics thing and I would say don't let it put you off if you feel the same. Its not a flashy place but its very comfortable. My travel partner had a fall whilst we were there on the way home one night after dinner on the first night. It was very hard to communicate over the phone with the reception as they couldn't understand me (plus I think the phone might have been old) when I was requesting sticking plasters and ice. They didn't have ice packs as part of first aid but were able to provide ice. It took a few trips down to reception to communicate with one of the other receptionists who spoke English better. This was the only down side for me and the rest of the trip was fine.

Location, friendly stuff, clean and nice rooms. Everything is around corner: Walgreens with pharmacy, food and snacks, Starbucks with coffee, many small restaurants. Five minutes walk from public transportation. Good value for money.

The experience at this hotel was fantastic since the day that we arrived. We did not have to wait to check in; the staff were helpful and gave us good recommendations about restaurants and sightseeing. The rooms are good size with comfortable beds and a big bathroom. I liked the fact that you had tea and coffee facilities in the room, as well as a fridge. All the areas of the hotel were really clean and I loved the location! You can easily walk to Union Square, Ferry Building, etc. from the accommodation; and Chinatown is just around the corner (literally). You can find nice restaurants and bars nearby the hotel (Credo, The Irish Bank, Key Klub, Roxanne Cafe,...). I visited San Francisco with my sister and we totally recommend this place! Hopefully I can come back because the city has loads to offer, and I will definitely stay here again.

Everything was perfect.

The staff went above and beyond to insure our stay was comfortable and reached out to daily to see if we were doing ok. The rooom was by far one of cleanest and well maintained i have ever stayed in while in San Francisco. This will become our only accommodation choice while staying in the city. 5 stars across the board!

2 very minor suggestions, the cardio room (fantastic) the addition of 8lb free weights to go with the weights you had would be fantastic. And, for those of us always cold, an extra blanket in the closet would be amazing.

Room was well laid out and roomy. Bed and pillows are super comfy and the bedside iPhone dock was a great touch. Bathroom was good with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Coffee making facilities provided were good. Location was great to explore Chinatown and union square with good access to the cable car and muni bus. Some good eating and drinking places nearby. Front of house staff were all friendly and happy to help with any questions we had about the area or the Hotel.

Cannot find fault with the hotel at all.

The moment we walked in, we were greeted by Steve and his team at 9am. We initially were expecting to just leave our luggage and then go explore, however we were delighted to hear our room was all ready for us. This was great, having hopped off a 14hr flight to SF. The room was exceptionally comfortable and clean. The bed was so great, we nearly slept the whole morning. Steve also messaged us to see how we were going! Which was greatly appreciated! I highly recommend this hotel for it's location, service, room size and cleanliness.

Staff very friendly & helpful, room was a good size & comfortable. The lack of artificial chemical smells from laundry detergents or cleaning products was a real bonus for us & they also made attempts to recycle although it wasn't that clear what coud be recycled & that could be made clearer. Overall a very good base for exploring San Francisco, near to Chinatown & easy walking distance to public transport

Reataurant seemed very quiet & also expensive (eg: $7 for a coffee!) & more info on what to recycle would have been helpful

The location of this hotel couldn't be more central for most of the ground transport connections, great shopping, dining options, sight-seeing and places within walking distance. You are close to Union Square, China Town, the cable car runs and we even walked to Fishermans' Wharf - but beware the hills! All of the staff were incredibly friendly without being intrusive, although they really seemed interested in what we were doing and happily offered useful advice and tips that only locals would know. The room was very large, it was quiet and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. We really appreciated the eco focus of the hotel and the extra steps it took to maintain those credentials. I would 100% recommend this hotel and cannot understand the negative reviews based on the 5 nights we stayed here.

There's very little to comment on with any real criticism, but I will try to split some hairs! We didn't appreciate the light coming in from the hallway under the bedroom door. It would be good to have a water station on each floor, but appreciate that is a significant investment. Having tea (or hot water) facilities as well as the Keurig coffee machine would have been nice. It wasn't 100% clear whether we should wear masks or not any nobody challenged that we didn't. See? Very hard to criticise the Orchard Garden Hotel!

Exceptionally clean and spacious room and bathroom. Nice and warm on a chilly spring night. Comfortable big bed with good quality sheets and pillow options. Hotel seems well looked-after both in the rooms and in the common areas. Compared to other SF hotels, good value at $180/night. Located downtown, a 10min walk from a BART station in a relatively safe area by SF standards.

Lower than 4th floor you may have the window facing into a ventilation shaft with reduced natural light. Ask for a higher floor if you want a view.

Loved this hotel - I was pleasantly surprised. It is right next to the road that starts China town and leads to little Italy. Lots to do around the general area. I really liked the eco approach and the water filter machine in the hallway. Theres a rooftop space which I found out about from another review - sadly I had back luck weather wise so didn't use it.

Nothing the hotel can do but there was a lot of homelessness around the area just as a heads up. I didn't see it being any different in other areas I visited sadly.
