The hotel location in Japantown was perfect. Parking was easy in the city parking garage attacked to the hotel. The staff was excellent, so attentive and kind. The lobby area was huge and had so many great seating areas for relaxing. There was also a 24/7 coffee/tea station which was great. We spent an afternoon downstairs just reading on a sofa, which was lovely. The room itself was simple and clean. The bathroom was not luxurious, but perfectly adequate. The buffet breakfast (an extra cost) was great. Huge variety and good quality food. Would highly recommend this hotel to others visiting the city, especially anyone hoping to avoid the downtown area which can be very busy.

My only slight complaint was that there is no separate light in the toilet and no door to the sink area outside so in the middle of the night the option was either to pee in the dark or turn on a light that would very likely wake up anyone else in the room. Overall this was just a minor inconvenience and the lobby, staff and location of the hotel more than made up for it! We would stay there again for sure!

Location was good. Amenities were clean and well appointed

The room and beds were quite small. The bathroom without a door and shower exposed was tricky with a family and the lights in the bathroom were all connected so to turn on the light in the toilet would have woken up everyone in the middle of the night. Our toilet overflowed and a crew had to be sent for clean up and repairs. Very inconvenient. Staff could have been friendlier and we were never offered anything complimentary for the toilet situation. We checked out a day early and made sure the evening before checkout that it was ok and no penalty would be incurred only to be met with a different answer in the morning which required a manager to resolve. So that was upsetting on a last note especially with the toilet situation a couple nights prior.

Very stylish, unique hotel. And in 2023, it's important to add that it's in a safe neighborhood. Hotel Kabuki is rightly on many lists like the 10 Coolest Hotels in San Francisco and the very Best Boutique Hotels in San Francisco. I agree. I've lived in San Francisco for almost 30 years and know the neighborhoods well. While renovating our apartment, I had to find a room near home last minute. I looked extensively online and found other hip, beautiful hotels in SF, but once I saw the neighborhood or cross streets, I knocked them off the list because of how seedy the areas are now. Hotel Kabuki is the rare gem that is All. The. Things. The aesthetics are a 10 out of 10. The hotel strikes an eyebrow-raising balance between artistic and minimalist. The staff is top-notch, welcoming, warm, professional. The beds, pillows, and sheets are incredibly comfortable. Everything is super clean and fresh. The lounge is so inviting it was impossible not to enjoy my complimentary coffee in it before leaving. Two big thumbs up. I love it. (Photos by Jessica Kay and Aubrie Pick)

The parking lot was full when I arrived, albeit it late at night. On the bright side, I found a parking spot right across the street, and because the meter was broken, I ended up getting FREE parking (FYI: it's a metered spot on the northwest side of Post Street near Buchanan in front of Sally's Salon). In a city where hotel parking ranges from $40-$100 per night, that was a fun win. There was lots of open street parking, and the meters start at 9 AM, so it's not a bad idea to park on the street. There's also a Japantown parking lot right down the block. If Hotel Kabuki were in a different neighborhood, I might not recommend street parking, but it's quiet, calm, and safe here.

Everything was spectacular from check-in to check-out. The staff is very accommodating, the hotel is stunning, and the location is so close to many great streets for shopping, food, and fun. Thank you!

Would be great if there was a business center for printing documents rather than going to the UPS down the street as most hotels usually have this. The only other feedback was that the wifi didn't work on my phone very well.

very clean, good location, loved the breakfast, lobby area and the staff

Neither TV worked, which was REALLY a bummer. You also need to put some hooks in the bathroom sink / vanity for hanging up hand towels. More bar soap rather than plastic tubes of body wash (which is environmentally very bad / plastic waste. You should have refillable liquids in the bathroom in a dispenser rather than shampoo, conditioner in tiny plastic bottles

I stayed in the loft suite with 2 double beds with family and all I can say is wow!! From the moment you are greeted by the staff to the moment you enter your room is such a wonderful experience. The room was HUGE! as was the bathroom. The amenities were excellent and the decor was stunning. I had researched a lot of hotels in SF and am so glad I settled on this one as it exceeded my expectations. Stay here if you want to be spoilt and know that your money has been well spent!!

Everything was perfect.

We got a nice upgrade and had a great view. Of course we paid a bit more for it, but it was worth it. We also liked that the bus stops were nearby.

My only gripe is that the shower door was glass and I was traveling with my 23yr old son. We had to take turns leaving the comfort of the the room when the other took a shower.

Hotel staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. They helped us locate parking garage nearby with clear directions to self-park. Our room was AMAZING - it was a huge suite. It has a walk in closet and giant shower - spectacular. Our living room had a garden view - beautiful! The coffee/tea station was a really nice bonus. Bar and lobby was really cool and just fun to sit and enjoy. Fun bars and restaurants you can walk to. Great recommendations from front desk. Excellent central location to explore the city.

The modern décor was great. The room seemed clean and neat. They upgraded us to a room with a living room and sofa bed, so the size was great. I like the coffee/latte machine in the lobby. Temperature control was really good. Location right near Japantown was great for restaurants.

I know they need to have fans, but these were ridiculous. They were on all the time and were very loud. The sofa bed was not comfortable. Parking was super expensive, but we were able to find street parking nearby.

We met for a family reunion of sorts for my daughter's birthday and the Cherry Blossom Festival. (She lives on Bush near Laguna.) My son came from NYC and her father came from Sacramento.

The room was cool with very cold floors. My feet were so cold I couldn't sleep. Parking cost more than I was told it would be (maybe someone forgot the festival price?). I did not like the breakfast choices (but not a problem; plenty of places to eat nearby.)
