Castillo Inn at the Beach

We got two rooms, our room was spacious and had a patio, was completely satisfied with how comfortable the beds were. The rooms had basic amenities hairdryer, Iron and small ironing board, mini fridge, and coffee maker. The location of the Castillo Inn was perfect! it's close to the beach and to restaurants. Kudos to the groundskeeper, the facility was kept neat and tidy, including the parking lot. We were able to park our car close to our room. The staff from check-in to housekeeping were all friendly and courteous. If you want a quiet stay in Santa Barbara I highly recommend the Castillo Inn.

The staff (Jose and Jocelyn were professional, warm, and kind). The room was spacious, modern, and clean. The location is very close to the beach, delicious restaurants, State Street, and Stearn's Wharf. Great price and great location. I will stay here again and recommend that others stay here too. The location is also close to the Amtrak and Greyhound bus station as well.

I wish there was a snack and beverage machine onsite (there may have been one but I did not see it). Also, is there a washer and dryer that guests can use? Especially if you are at the beach and want to wash your bathing suits, clothes, and beach towels before packing them up.

The reception check in and staff were very good and we were allowed to check in early. The location was excellent, just across from the harbour. We had a large king patio room and the bed, pillows and bedding and the bathroom facilities were very good although a little dated, but very clean. We enjoyed the more spacious room. The parking facility was very good and we were allowed to leave our car there on check out day whilst on a boat trip which was great.

The king patio rooms face the road and there was road noise at night which led to interrupted sleep. We would choose a room at the back of the property next time. There were no bedside table lamps.

The location can’t be beat. You are within walking distance of convenience stores and all of the restaurants near the pier. The room was a perfect size, we booked the king bed which was very comfortable. My boyfriend and I are super picky when it comes to pillows so we brought our own from home and we’re happy we did. Unfortunately the hotel pillows were super flat. The room was very clean and I appreciated having a refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. Other reviews have mentioned parking is tight which is true, but we drive a smaller vehicle so it wasn’t bad for us. We would definitely stay here again.

The noise from the street was a bit loud at times and one of our window shutters was broken so it wouldn’t completely close to cut off all light.

Room worked well for myself and my family. Loved the little patio we had and since the weather was nice we could sit and have coffee or just relax outside. Cleaning staff were great and diligent.

I was not impressed with the manager or staff. The staff couldn't answer my questions and said I had to wait for the manager. The manager came off as condescending and bothered by my questions. I also had requested to do a 30 minute later check out because we needed to take an uber to a pick up location for the airbus and one family member was "back to work". There was a sign that said no late check outs and I told him I understood but here was the situation so we didn't have to sit at a bus stop with no internet for 1.5 hours. I was told no because the next person renting was here already waiting. However, they had vacancies and other rooms available.

Nice little place close to the water that probably rocks during the season. We visited late December and found everything underwhelming. Kudos to the cleaning staff who helped replace our hair dryer very quickly!

Breakfast is not offered (it was discontinued at the time of our stay), there was no coffee available, and the not much to do around the place late December.

Bathtub drain not working, would not hold water. No bath soak this time. Nor a deal breaker.

The hotel is a lovely small place with real Santa Barbara charm (be willing to go with the older style of things as that's part of the charm) and the staff is very accommodating. I was there during the torrential flooding in Jan '23 and some problems ensued with my room & the last night's stay due to inclement weather, but staff was more than willing to accommodate me and work things out, give refunds where needed, etc.

The staff is great, we got an early check-in and the property and rooms are always lovely…but this time our room seemed as if it may have been pillaged! The bed was very comfortable, however only one side of our king bed had an end table and only one lamp in the room over on the desk. There should always be a end table on each side of a king bed and a lamp on each table…over head lighting does not work if only one person wants to read in bed or perhaps have a glass of wine while reading with no place to set their drink. hopefully the owners will see this and adjust accordingly.
