Lavender Inn by the Sea

Very peaceful place with the beautiful garden, complimentary wine happy hour, small fountains, fireplace on chilly mornings and the kind, helpful staff. I got a queen room and it was very comfortable for me as a solo traveler. The room has a fridge, a coffee machine, and a microwave, which were really convenient for me. The housekeeping upon request works totally fine with me. They work really well as well. The assistants at the front desk are helpful and attentive. Many thanks to them. Many of the hotels here don’t provide breakfast so I am glad that breakfast is available. Overall, I loved it. Hoping to come back.

The only thing could be the cold hard boiled egg at breakfast. I’d rather have warm/hot scrambled eggs but it is still not much of a big deal.

This boutique hotel is located within a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and 10-15 minute walk to the funk zone where many restaurants and shops are located. It is in a perfect location. All of the staff were commendable, especially Esteban at the front desk who greeted us very warmly and gave us a lot of information regarding the hotel and surrounding areas. Our room was number 17 by the pool, which was very clean and had great water pressure and temperature control to its shower. Bed was very comfortable and soft. Linens were soft, clean and smelled fresh. Perks were a bottle of chilled sparkling wine in the refrigerator for all guests, wine hour from 4-6pm daily and a heartful selection for breakfast (boiled eggs, fruits, oatmeal, bagels, corn flakes, yogurt and granola). Its sister hotel (Las Brisas-located directly across the street) had a jacuzzi that you could use as well as bikes that you could take out on a first come/first serve basis in 4-5 hour increments to sight see that didn't cost anything to use. We didn't drive. However, they do have free parking with what looked like approximately 15-18 parking spaces. If you're feeling real adventurous, we took the public bus (number 11) from Santa Barbara airport for $1.75 each and rode it downtown Santa Barbara to the transit station near upper state street. From there, we had a leisure walk about 25 minutes to the hotel where we had lunch along the way. The bus ride took about a hour with all of the stops in which we got a little tour along the way. People and driver were all friendly. We felt very safe as well on the public transportation.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like about this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. However, because it was cooler temperatures, the pool wasn't being used. I can see where it could get a little noisy if you're wanting quiet.

The staff were exceptionally friendly. The extra touches such as afternoon wine/snacks, a list of local wineries/breweries, plus free Californian sparkling wine in the room were lovely. Really clean room (and we took advantage of housekeeping on our 3rd day). Loved the pool! We borrowed bikes on most days we were there from the sister hotel across the road (we also did laundry there for $5 which was handy). Overall a brilliant stay!

It is quite near a main road. It was our most expensive hotel of the trip (but everywhere in SB seems very expensive!)

The afternoon wine & nibbles were a lovely touch. Breakfast was really good and enjoyed eating it in our room. Staff friendly & helpful. Hotel in great position for Downtown and Harbour Very nice to be upgraded to the suite Overall we thank you for a memorable stay

The outside area by suite was near an occasionally noisy ice machine & passing busy staff which was bit odd to be honest but staff were very quick & quiet. Maybe kitchen could do with upgrade

The Inn felt very clean. I appreciated the attention the maid service provided. Free parking was a major bonus. Staff was friendly and helpful.Thank you for the California champagne and bottled water in the refrigerator.

The air conditioning was not as efficient as we would like. The continental breakfast was decent, but, better pastries would bring it up to a higher level.

Lovely we’ll appointed rooms. Very comfortable beds. Plenty wardrobe space. Great bathroom. Good towels. V good complimentary breakfast and happy hour. Complimentary bottle of fizz in our room. Nice garden area. small but nice pool with sunbeds table pool towels. Definitely recommend.

We arrived at 2.45 and checking in was 3 pm but made us wait until 3pm. Petty !

We very much liked the location (walking distance to the beach and whale watching tour) as well as the breakfast and happy hour offered. Free parking is a huge plus and money saver, too!

Although it is typical since COVID, we didn't have housekeeping the three nights we were there (you had to be there 4 nights for housekeeping).

It’s in a great location, close to the beach and a 10 minute walk to State Street. It’s set in a very pretty garden and our room was very comfortable. We loved the additional touches of champagne in the fridge on arrival, wine in the afternoon and the lavender bag on the bed. It was an added bonus to have a light breakfast available and free parking. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

We loved everything!

The room was comfortable and clean. Cookies and wine were available in the lobby and coffee in the morning with a bag filled with milk and cereal. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Pets are not supposed to be allowed. Since I am severely allergic to dogs this attracted us to the property. While checking out, another couple checking out had a big dog in their car. We told the front desk and they apologized. I guess some people are not honest about having their pets with them.

Great location. Staff was friendly and helpful, and more than willing to give us little extras. They upgraded our room without us,asking, at no extra,charge. Our second stay at this inn, and we will definitely be back.

Table lamps could be replaced with ones that have USB charging ports for cell phones, tablets, and other devices.
