Blue Sands Inn, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel

Raven at the front desk has always been so nice and accommodating. Of course she is limited on what she can do with new ownership new rules.

I have always loved the Blue Sands Inn, however, things seem a little less friendly now that there is new ownership. Prices have gone up, if I bring my dog, we have to stay downstairs, and I asked to check out at noon instead of 11 and was told I would have to pay extra to do so. The Blue Sands Inn has always been my “go to” in Santa Barbara, but I am now thinking that I will start looking elsewhere.

One of our room has a nice view to the ocean and we also managed to have a quiet night of sleep.

The other room, claiming to have ocean view, only had a glimpse of sea to the corner of the window. And the hotel charges for 2pm check in or 2pm check out. Usually i thought these things were given based on the room vacancy, not a mandatory charge.

Staff was exceptional and very helpful. Excellent location to beach and Restaurants I feel the hotel is more in tuned for families with children and not senior citizens as we are. I would recommend to families with young children.

Internet was not always receptive to our devices. Cable and smart TV controls were confusing and the TV finally worked the 8th day of our stay. We are morning news folks and it was frustrating not to be able to catch current events. Larry & Cindy

The room was what we expected. We liked the fireplace. Also shower was nice. There even was plenty of soap and shampoos. Microwave and frig worked great for us. Along with TV. Places to put 2 suitcases too! Not always the case.

Confusion about when pool was open. The annual cleaning took place day we left, but at first were told could not be used the day before. Also asked that our room NOT be cleaned on second day. It was cleaned on third day .. so we just asked for more towels. Friendly staff ... Just confusions.

Very clean and really well appointed. The decor was spot on. The bathroom was modern and felt super clean and love that the beds were white and simple and there was no carpet!!! Your staff were all very friendly and helpful. I also found parking in your lot each day!

My only complaint along with every other hotel in SB is the price. A pullout wall magnifying mirror would be a nice addition and perhaps more hangers in the closet.

The location was sublime, across the street from the beach and close to everything. The staff, especially Taylor, were exceptionally kind and helpful. From our window we could see the ocean and a charming park. The fireplace in the room was romantic. They said they will be doing remodeling in the Fall and we can hardly wait to see the improvements

The things we didn't care for will be addressed with the remodeling, so it's not worth mentioning.

Ocean view room is on display to people below on the sidewalk, in the parking lot, and in the street. this could have easily been addressed with top down bottom up shades. the only way to not be seen from outside is to close the shades and then you can’t see the ocean, which is amazing.

Room was newly remodeled and very clean. The staff were kind, friendly and helpful. They had coffee available in the morning and it was close to the beach.

Maybe some fruit and cereal in the morning to go with the coffee, cookies are nice but unable to eat them before something healthy first thing in the am.

Our room was beautifully decorated and very clean our location was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The complimentary coffee located in the lobby was conveniently wonderful to have in the morning.

We were placed on the lower level room and we had some upstair neighbors that where pretty loud throughout the late night. This was the only inconvenience to our stay.

Clean rooms and pool area, friendly staff and comfy bed. Close to the beach and not far from the inner part if the city. Free parking.

Poorly soundproofed rooms. You can hear your neighboors talking and walking.
