Atterdag Inn

I liked the accessibility and simplicity of the room. It was tidy, clean and I felt safe.

I booked and paid through Booking.com. Because there is no office on the Atterdag premises, the check-in process is not ordinary. Allegedly, I was to have received an email prior to the day of my stay to receive my room number and access code. (Depending on what you read on the interwebs, the email was to come either 48 hours prior to or the morning of your arrival date.) I checked my email in the early morning before traveling to Santa Ynez Valley/Solvang. I received no correspondence with the pertinent information. The Atterdag's sister hotel is The Viking Inn (within walking distance). The Viking Inn has a staffed office, and the kind lady there was able to provide me with my room number and access code.

it was small property, however kept very clean. the contactless checkin worked. my kids were super excited to be able to sleep in bunk beds.

parking was a little hard to find because it’s small. I drove around the property twice then found the parking. the fridge didn’t keep my stuff cold as I wanted and the freezer did not work properly. very minor inconvenience compared to the location. I was in the middle of town so it made it perfect to to explore. parking and drive fridge was super minor inconvenience to mark this a lower score. family was happy so I was happy

The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were new and super fresh. I liked the minimalist feel and the room was spacious. The location was super convenient to stores and restaurants but it was off the beaten track just enough that we didn't suffer the noise of the streets.

We had very little toilet paper left on the only roll. Luckily our grown children were staying in another unit so we took the extra roll from their room. There also could be a kitchen cloth for wiping surfaces. I had to use a washcloth and I would have preferred using something designated for the kitchen. And no kitchen soap.

Great location! Able to walk to shops and restaurants. Helpful staff. Unique and very spacious room.

The initial room (Room 1) had ZERO privacy (windows were literally next to the sidewalks and street). You would need to keep the shades closed. The staff quickly accommodated by reassigning our room to an upstairs room, which offered a bit more privacy and tons of natural light.

We loved the location and how close it was to everything but still far enough to where we had some privacy. The property itself was very clean. We saw staff cleaning multiple times a day and the room itself was very tidy and comfortable.

I didn’t like how thin the walls were. Sound traveled very easily from outside to inside the room. The room did come with ear plugs but it was never loud to the point ear plugs were needed in my opinion.

Great location. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping, but a block off the main road, so a little less hectic. The unit was very clean and comfortable. Self check-in was easy.

There was a car (guessing an employee of the restaurant a couple doors down) that parked right in front of the unit and would rev his car when he left and woke us up every night. Not an issue with the Atterdag, just the neighbor. Definitely a little loud during the day, but it quieted down by 9-10pm.

location. location. location. large room. #7 is wonderful

our reserved room was #1 - with big widows and the door right on the sidewalk. 100% unacceptable to us - two women in their 70’s. you could have no light in the room unless you invited the foot-traffic into your room. Happily we were moved to #7, upstairs and with two Queen beds so we paid a bit more.

Great location, great staff. We had communication via SMS and they don't have a reception desk (it seems) but everything was smooth and understandable. Staff helped us a lot and even provide us with services they didn't have (we asked for a microwave and even though our room didn't suppose to have one, when we've arrived we had one). Free bottles of water in the room

It's not cheap, but it was Xmass so it's understandable. We wish we could have better directions to the parking. Spent a couple of minutes while realizing how to get to the back of the building. But it's not critical. The floor in the room seemed clean but my white socks were gray in a couple of hours.

Great amenities. Especially loved that they provided an electric water kettle. Loved the flooring -- no gross carpets. Location was exceptional. The room was very spacious and bright, with a table and chairs and two easy chairs. Just very well appointed all around.

The ceiling and walls are not well sound proofed. Could hear every step from above, and when the shower was used upstairs, it sounded like it was in our room. However, earplugs were provided :-)

Everything is very clean and comfortable! The location can’t be beat just a 3 min walk away from the Solvang Theatre and downtown just around the corner. We will definitely stay here again.

Oneside of our room faced the parking lot and the bathroom faced the courtyard, I wish they would have invested in the blinds that you could pull down from the top so you could have airflow but nobody would be able to see in. Truly the only thing I would change.
