I have passed by this simple motel for the past 40 years when staying in Tahoe, but would not have thought to book here if ist wasn't for some fo the great Booking.com reviewers. Thanks. Although the outside looks like your classic motel, The rooms have been renovated, with a large shower, a larger than mini-bar fridge, and a microwave. In our King Bed room the sink was seperate from the bathroom which was very comfortable for us. We paid the extra to be in a room in their single floor building so we didnt' have any issues of people above us. The owners are extremely lovely people and realy take care of their property. We saw them working to improve the facility everyday that we were there! (they had workers put in a walkway by the rooms while we were there. ) The location is central, and for us in walking distance to the ski lift, the beach, the shopping center and the casinos, yet off the main road so we did not hear any traffic. A realy good choice for a motel in Stateline, South Lake Tahoe

We liked everything - but I just want to make it clear that this is a motel, which is a cheaper accomadation compared to a hotel. It's an acommadation that offers a comfortable room to sleep in and allows you to park near your room. (Motel: Motorists + Hotel), So please do no expect to find here a dining hall and a bar! There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. For a motel this property is one of the better ones we have stayed and for us, midweek in April it was probalby the best deal we had while traveling for 5 weeks.

There are plenty of electrical outlets and pillows. King bed was comfortable. Although room is small, there was just enough space to accommodate my stretching routine. Staff appears to be available 24/7. While my friends stayed at Hard Rock Hotel because of the dog friendly nature, I chose BJI because the room has a microwave and mini fridge so I can prepare my own healthy breakfast. Moreover, it was only a 10-15 minute walk to Hard Rock Hotel to load the truck and ready the boat for the day's fishing. Otherwise, Hard Rock Hotel charges $20 for parking.

Towels are replaced daily, but only the bath towels as I missed my face towel after the first night. On the last night, I asked at the front desk for face towels. For my short stay, I would have preferred no towel exchanges and would have requested it had I known that there was daily towel service. At 7am begins the coffee/tea service, but I was unable to utilize it because I was out the door by 5am for fishing and didn't return until after the coffee/tea service was closed. Upon arrival, I noticed our sink was leaking which makes me sad because of our CA drought. In the shower, the conditioner bottle did not pump out conditioner which you don't find out until you're in the shower.

Housekeeping was done always, and it was extremely difficult given that an ongoing blizzard made travel for some staff near impossible. Was very impressed with the dedication. Parking lot was consistently plowed during said blizzard. I was asked a few times to move my car to allow room for the plow which was no problem and I appreciated being given a chance to help. Owners were very friendly and knowledgable about the area and seemed down-to-earth / approachable.

Really being picky here, but better coffee options would be nice. Starbucks is across the street but sometimes I was in a rush in the morning to get to the mountain and needed a quicker option.

The location was excellent. We walked to all the casinos and eating establishments very easily. Everything you need (shopping, food, entertainment) is practically right around the corner. Parking was great in September. I was able to park right in front of the room. The rooms were obviously refurbished recently, as older reviews of this hotel were really bad. Things must have really turned around at this hotel, because it was very nice and a great value.

I have no complaints. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's excellent for what it is. I'd rate it a solid 9.

Paul runs an EXCELLENT hotel here, and I stayed for 5 nights. The room was modest, but very functional, immaculate and well-equipped. Comfortable bed, adequate heating/cooling unit, mini-fridge, microwave, and everything appeared to be recently updated, so it was great for me as a skier on a trip to catch storms in the area.

My only request would be for a simple in-room coffee maker, however promptly at 7AM Paul had coffee available in the lobby / front desk area.

- The location is 10/10. Walking distance to the Gondola, local shops, restaurants, mall and even a park for quick and fun sleeding. - The staff was another big plus. They managed to change my stay after a last minute message as the kids were sick. Then, we were caught by an unexpected storm winter alert and they recommended us to return one day earlier and even returned our money. Very honest family. - The room is very good, clean and no noise from neighboors.

The air conditioning (heating function) was turning on/off a lot during the night and makes a significant noise. We were so tired that it didn't matter a lot, but for those who are looking for a quiet night might decide to either go with an extra blanket or ask the staff on whether there is a room with a newer model available.

Quietly tucked away slightly off the main drag in South Lake Tahoe, I chose this small Inn because of the many reviews of how clean is was (and I totally agree)! It has a nice remodeled look, modern furniture, a very comfortable bed, clean linens, and neutral colors (without being boring). I wanted a single queen, and had that offered (upstairs), and the kind woman who checked me in offered a double queen downstairs for the same rate, so that I didn't have to lug my bag up stairs (which wouldn't of been a problem, other than I was exhausted from a long trip and hike). The bathroom was small but super clean and the shower has a faux stone finish, which I found to be creative and peaceful. An updated shower head was nice, although the water pressure was light (most likely due to California water issues, using low flow heads) and I didn't have a problem with it as the water was hot, and it did the job it was supposed to do. Pros: Comfortable bed, quiet environment, super clean, not too loud of an AC unit, kind staff.

What could be improved (hence the one star drop): The placement of the hairdryer made it extremely hard to use. The non-smoking room had a hint of cigarette odor, especially in the bathroom. The shower didn't drain well. The sink never ran hot water unless the shower was run first. The linens could be upgraded, as there were black spots in places on them.

Do not let the humble exterior fool you -- the rooms here have been renovated and furnishings and fixtures are in great condition. Really nice to see modern amenities like USB charging ports in several easily accessible locations. All the basics are in place, heater worked without any problems, so everything added up to a very comfortable stay. Location is super convenient, many restaurants nearby and the large, well-stocked Raley's supermarket is across the street. Parking space was a little tricky to get out of, but directly in front of the room.

Please note that the disability access room does not have a table or desk. The manager went beyond the call of duty to change me to a different room, but don't count on it during a busy season. Plan carefully! Shower took a bit long to warm up -- felt like I was wasting water letting it run for a couple of minutes before stepping inside.

It's an old building, but very nicely refurbished. The room was very clean, and the lady at the desk was very nice. The net cost was less than the least expensive room available on AirBnB.

Rooms are rather small, but that's not anything that can be changed, realistically. My pet peeve is the use of Febreze - you spend the whole night smelling synthetic perfume on the pillowcase - yecch! It's NOT necessary!

There is a reason that this hotel is so highly rated. Very clean. Everything's updated and the owner is right there for anything you need. We found it clean and comfortable. You can walk to the casinos the restaurants, lake, and the ski lift.

He is currently working on getting better Wi-Fi and the rooms are small and simple because the hotel is old, but he has updated them in general.
