Southern Oaks Inn - Saint Augustine

The pool was wonderful! Great size and usually was able to swim by myself which was great. The breakfast was also nice. The housekeeper lady brought us anything we asked for which was awesome. Also our dog loved the dog park! Made it easy for her to walk around a little.

The location was right by a busy street which made the traffic kind of loud. Not the hotels fault but it was still unpleasant. When we first got there we had a roach running around outside our door and smaller bugs all over the inside of our door. They ran off through the cracks but came back a few more times. That was extremely gross. It's Florida so it happens but still. The room was also kind of on the smaller side and our fridge didn't work.

A fairly quiet area, with ample parking space for my truck and construction trailer, parking lot VERY WELL LIT! This hotel was definitely updated since staying here about 17 years ago for a construction job in the area, it was a Days Inn back then. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable, TV was good sized, microwave worked good and refrigerator kept my food cold.

The only drawback I experienced was my room's A/C performance, it would cool OK then seemed to quit cooling while still running. I never complained to staff, mainly because I was just too tired after working long hours at my jobsite to deal with the issue.

Staff, beds and pillows, land, full breakfast, pool, downtown shuttle bus, Old Time Trolley ticket purchase and they pick you up here, staff Unique allowance of pets. We didn’t bring ours but enjoyed seeing others. Only some rooms allow pets. None of it bothered me. Staff very helpful

Only my room had two little issues. I told staff about them fyi. They took note of changed and fixes that I mentioned. Watch out for taxes and resort fee before you go to book it. Maybe it’s the same everywhere but I used booking.com. The price went from 3 something to 5 something for 3 nights 4 days double queen room with those extra charges

Great location the drive from 95 was brief, we were pulling a trailer and were concerned that we’d be a bother to someone but nope! Southern Oaks has parking specifically for bulk parking. Our room was very clean and they had a pet bed and clean hotel serving bowels for our lady that you can also bought in the lobby, we were so close to everything needed, the convenience of the shuttle to downtown and the things within walking distance made it a lot easier to stay busy. Publix was a 20 minute drive away Memorial Day weekend. Clean pool and kept chilly for those warm St. Augustine days. The dog park was so nice, it’s was clean and lots of bags which was great on the groggy morning when you have to just get up and take your pup outside to do its business.

Breakfast was wonderful, the room was clean and the staff was very responsive when we had an issue with the lack of tissues and getting rid of the discarded underclothes that were behind the chair when we checked in. As soon as I texted the front desk they sent a member of housekeeping staff to remedy the issues. The pool is great - it actually has a shade cover over most of the pool - great for those of us who have sun sensitive skin and helps with the heat of the day.

The rooms had extremely thin walls - we could hear people outside the room just like they were inside the room with us and I don't think they were yelling to each other. Also, more attention was needed on getting the room ready for occupancy - the tissue box was empty when we came in and there was discarded underclothes behind the chair.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful and they had a shuttle to the historic district that ran every 20 minutes until 10pm. Breakfast was good and include french toast, eggs and ham along with the usual continental breakfast foods. The menu changes daily.

The location was on the main road going into St. Augustine with a lot of traffic. It did not however keep me awake. The facilities could use some paint outside but nothing significant.

The price was amazing for what we got: parking close to our room, the Inn's location was perfect with the included free transport that runs every 20 minutes taking guests to and from the downtown Visitors Center, which is a short walk to literally everything but the beach. A daily included full Breakfast which was awesome, a very clean room with daily maid service, a staff that was both pleasant and accommodating with special requests. We have added Southern Oaks Inn as a must-stay when visiting Downtown St Augustine, which we do several times a year.

Nothing. Southern Oaks Inn was an amazing find. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Downtown St Augustine!

The staff, all of them were extremely nice. They spoke to you every time you saw one of them. The property is set among beautiful old oak trees. It is an older property but well maintained. The pool is larger than most hotels and very clean. The best breakfast anywhere and dining room large enough to accommodate a crowd. The place is pet friendly which concerned me a bit but wasn't an issue at all. ( We have pets but don't travel with them.)Our room smelled nice and clean from the moment we walked in. It's close enough to beaches and downtown area that makes it an easy drive. We would definitely stay here again.

The room didn't have a table or chairs for snacks or eating even though it had microwave and refrigerator. The easy chair sank down too low.

This was our third stay at Southern Oaks and we would stay here again! The room was super clean, the full breakfast in the morning was delicious, the staff are amazing, and super helpful. I even left a pair of slacks and they sent them to me! AMAZING! You can't go wrong staying here. They have a beautiful pool and a dog park, but we didn't use either of them. We were taking time going to downtown St. Augustine using their FREE shuttle service. Love this place!
