Super 8 by Wyndham La Vale/Cumberland Area

The hotel is nice and comfortable…but the people make it what it is. En route, we hit a deer and totaled our car. After hours atop a foggy mountain in the cold, we were dropped of at 4:30 am by the tow truck. Our kids were freezing. The lady at the front desk gave us late check-out. We went to the room and there was a knock at the door a while later. She had a tray of muffins and hot chocolate for my kids. When I tried to thank her, all she said was, “I’m a mom, too”. Had a great night’s sleep, but had to get up early to catch a cab to get a rental. Another lady saw us trying to herd our teens to the cab. She told us that it was fine to let them sleep and stay in the room while we figured it out. Again, she cared about my kids. Thank you from this mama’s heart! You aren’t just a hotel. And for us, you were a God-send.

Honestly, we love that we maintain our privacy unless staff is called upon & even they were called upon they were polite, fast, & more than anything.. they were very patient, with us in particular, because after 4 days staying at the super 8, we liked it so much that we reserved another night & even though we had trouble nearly all morning straightening out the discrepancy with the booking app we had used, the staff was so patient and allowed us to stay in our room and excepted the proof we showed that the payment/reservation was indeed coming, whereas in other places we've stayed... We have seen others & ourselves included, being treated poorly in those situations. Even going so far as to expect us to pack up a week long vacation and wait elsewhere for any issue to resolve; Which made it not worth it to get any more nights if we were already packed, ya know? Also, the waffles are AMAZING!!

Maybe just 2 things.. I'm sorry.... One, the bedframe wasn't aligned or something and we kept cracking our shins on a metal petruding piece of the frame. We couldn't fix the bed because it was so heavy.. But maybe anyone with dogs could have they're own section or something because some of them are aggressive and/or bark, continuously. But other than that, everyone was great. (P.s. make sure employees unplug freezer in-between visits. We unplugged and de iced ours for you guys. It was no big deal)

Staff is incredibly friendly! The TV in my mom‘s room didn’t work, and within about one minute someone was down there fixing the issue. Rooms were clean and With the exception of the TV in my mom’s room everything was functional. Breakfast wasn’t super fancy but they were plenty of choices considering the price of the room.

The only thing I didn’t like was the smell of the room. It had a kind of odd,musty smell. Possibly coming from the air conditioning unit which looks like maybe it could have been cleaned up a little.

The young man at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean it was very quiet and the location was very easy to the interstate. Also there were many stores and various restaurants very close by.

The light switch at the door of course when you flicked it on turn the lights on however when you turned it off it turned off the bedside lights so you could not turn the bedside light on which I would have liked to have been able to do

The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and I liked that they were always available to answer questions or accommodate a request. We didn't get up early enough to have breakfast, but other people seemed to be enjoying it.

My only gripe is with the curtains in the rooms. When you turn on the air conditioner or heater, it blows them away from the window and it felt like I didn't have enough privacy.

Everything about this location is fantastic. The amenities, staff, breakfast, price, the location. It all! We stay here every time we in town!

The tub didn’t have a way for my little kids to be able to bathe. The stopper “switch” was pulled out of the tub. And the pool isn’t heated but I understand for the price to be as amazing as it It’s not going to be just wish it was because the many times we’ve stayed we never gotten to enjoy the hot tub because someone is always in it so we swim in the cold pool. But grateful it’s indoors.

The breakfast was good they could provide a little more options like fresh fruits scrambled eggs

The water pressure in our room was terrible there was not a plug to hold water in the tub we had to use a washcloth and there were a few cobwebs in the corners the breakfast area could be a little bigger and they need to wash the windows on the outside of the building

The rooms seem to be better soundproof. I hate being able to hear the rooms next to you or from below or above, whichever the case would be . Thanks for better privacy.

Bedding was very comfortable and clean. Best value in the area. Free breakfast included cereal, waffles, toast, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice

Only complaint was the lobby smelled like marijuana smoke so bad every night. Even our hallway and entrance to the room smelled like marijuana. It wasn't a deal breaker but not very professional.

Easy checkin. Decent breakfast. Nice having a mini fridge in room. Saved us from having to keep going out for cold drinks.

Chose smoking room. Stopped at walmart for Ozium spray to eliminate some of the smoke smell. Worked very well.
