Super 8 by Wyndham Amsterdam

I love the location of this Super 8. It's a very easy stop off the highway and midpoint between New England and Western New York. Staff was so friendly and The front desk is open late, which is super convenient. They also have security cameras in their parking lot which is very important to us on road trips. The room is very straightforward but it did include a refrigerator/ freezer which I didn't expect but really appreciated for our food. I would totally stay here again, no fuss, no frills. Just a safe place to sleep that did not smell like an ashtray.

Like most economy places, the walls are pretty thin in the morning, it's hard if you want to sleep in. Definitely bring some earplugs. Oh there is also no elevator, it's not a deal breaker but it might matter to somebody.

The Motel was very accommodating to two cyclists along the Erie Canal. A great stay. The front desk staff helped us with delivery food options, as there are some big hills between the Erie Canal bicycle trail, food options, and the motel.

The wifi in our part of the Motel did not work. It worked very well near the front desk (and business center).

The hotel is conveniently located just off of the NY Thruway. The room accommodations were good, spacious and somewhat luxurious.

I arrived late and the room was at the rear of the building and had significant highway noise. As far away as the bottom of the stairway I heard unusually loud and vulgar conversation. Just my luck the "party" was in the adjacent room and across the hall. The next morning I overheard hallway conversations among the housekeepers and a subsequent brief direct discussion confirming that the "drunkfest" was even bigger than I had thought. There was mention of likely hangovers and etc. The guest behavior was not the fault of the hotel personnel and management. The "breakfast" was a joke.

There wasn't much available for breakfast but I didn't expect much to be honest. The main thing for the breakfast is there was always some hot coffee available in the morning so that was good, Dunkin is next door if you need a large. The room was nicely furnished, the pillows were soft and the mattress was comfortable. The room seemed to be recently renovated, the bathroom looked to be relatively new. I stayed there with my sons for three nights, with two in a bed you might bump elbows a bit but it's fine for a night or two. The room had a mini-fridge that worked out well for us, we made a run to Walmart on the first night, not too far away and left some drinks behind when we left (sorry housekeeping). The microwave is small but adequate and things were clean. TVs was good, Spectrum news was on, I kind of miss that at home since I don't get cable anymore. We were in town for Saratoga opening day and Howe Caverns the next, the drive to Howe Caverns was really nice, scenic route. The trip was good, if/when we're in town again I'd definitely consider staying at this hotel again. Good value for the money.

There was kind of a musty smell to the whole facility, including in the room. This isn't uncommon in my recent experience with other hotels. I had a similar issue with my last stay and that was a hotel which cost me quite a bit more money.

Amsterdam is scenery, beautiful, moody (around sunset), and gorgeous with night sky with no city lights disturbance when looked up at in the hotel’s parking lot. My room was ok clean. The bathtub was very welcome rather than shower unit as only.

From 30 South to enter, the downward opening to the hotel comes sharp and abrupt if one does not know. In the room, two light bulbs became off, but I let them be at night and forgot letting the front desk know about when I checked out.

Great location, rooms clean. Arrived late at night desk clerk was awesome. Called that day to book and they had rooms available.

Only down fall, buy the time we went to breakfast, there was nothing left, they must not restock when they run out

More breakfast Killed two spiders in my bathroom, but didn’t report it to the manager, as it was my last day there!

I felt satisfied with the continental breakfast . Overall everything was good .
