Best Western Saranac Lake

Breakfast was good; a lot of options and very convenient. Given I was doing the Ironman Lake Placid on Sunday my breakfast was key. So that worked out very well. Also, all the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Only downside to trip was that I wasted $1,200 on an extra room that I didn't end up using. It wasn't Best Western's fault but I wish I pursued other options so that I could have at least saved some of that $1,200.

Apparently we were put in a disabled person room. The light switches were too low and are two and a half year old was able to turn them on and off. The door handles were the kinds that she was able to open and close. And worst of all she was able to open the door to the hallway; even though she couldn't get out she could open it if she needed to and throw things out there or talk to people or whatever. I'm not sure why we were given that room because we are not disabled.

Location was fine. I do have an issue with Booking.com though! I put a note on my reserrvation that I am an AARP member and asked about discount. Nothing was answered. When I arrived at Best Western, I asked once again about the AARP discount and was told because I booked through Booking.com, he could not extend the discount I would have gotten had I booked directly with the hotel. Last time I will use booking.com.

Stayed in Deluxe King room. Room was clean, quiet, modern and comfortable. Furniture looked newer. Bathroom looks like it was recently remodeled, with nice shower. Heating was good and quiet (didn't try the a/c). Had microwave and nice sized frig. Keurig single coffee maker. Bed was very firm. Large TV. Didn't try out the wifi. (T-mobile reception was marginal. Verizon/Visible was good.) Ice machine and washer dryers were down the hall. I would stay here again.

There are no elevators in this older property. The hotel was pricey, but commensurate with general hotel rates in the area. This is a popular tourist area and it is currently just after labor day, just prior to leaf-peeping season.

This is a great location if you are looking to get to the Adirondack's but don't require too many frills. This hotel was nicely kept up, but it is not waterfront like many in the area are. This location provided all of the basics needed and it was clean and comfortable.

The only thing I did not like was that there were people parked in the handicap stop right next to the only pathway to the parking lot smoking so it was unavoidable to go through the cloud of smoke. It would be great if people were more considerate, but maybe the hotel could establish a better smoking area.

Breakfast was subbed out to a close by restaurant, but we never ordered. Room was comfortable, clean, and well Maintenance!!! We did a small load of laundry in the washer on our floor, it didn’t complete cycle correctly and we ended up with wet clothes with soap on them. Front desk made it right & gave us a refund on the soap we purchased and the cost of the washer without issue. We used another one on another floor without issue. This could of happened anywhere, they made it right and we were fine .

Friendly staff, great location, clean, has laundry machine, rich breakfast, free parking.

No twin beds, so although I ordered room for 4, I had to pay for additional 3rd bed for my children. The hotel didn't respond to the booking chat. They claim they don't always get it.

The facility was very nice, but dated, needs some upgrades. Beds were a bit uncomfortable. Good location, but we are not looking to come back to this area again, otherwise would probably stay here again. McKenzie's restaurant was ok for lunch they day we arrived, a bit expense for the food we got and was surprisingly closed for breakfast the next day.

The staff was generous and accommodating to my family when we found ourselves stranded during a thunderstorm while on a canoe trip. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We were able to dry our clothes and they gave us things like toothbrushes and a comb. I met at least 4 staff members and they were all wonderful.

The property itself is a bit worn down but it was comfortable and my kids loved the pool.

Staff was friendly. We had to leave a day early for an emergency and they adjusted the price for us. The location is great and was easy to find.

The room could have been cleaned and sanitized more thoroughly. The nightstands weren’t cleaned from the previous guests.
