The location is beautiful & breakfast out on the patio was great. The staff are super nice, lovely people. The free transportation to town & the racetrack is great drivers also super nice, bright gentlemen. Tip well to all the wonderful staff.

Well, bookings.com charged me $25 for hotel amenities & the hotel at checkout also charged an additional $75...$25 per night, annoying. Dinner food needs help & the staff at bar & food although super nice need a bit more training they seemed afraid & worried to make a mistake. SPAC was inconsistent with security practices. They searched me, took away my small fanny pack & scanned with a security wand. I had to remove my eyeglasses & phone & carry in small pockets. At the same time the woman seated next to me had a large Mary Poppins black tote full of stuff. No common sense whatsoever.

Fabulous historic hotel in the Saratoga Springs Spa park. Rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable however the standard rooms are a bit small. Restaurant was very good.

Two issues - 1) Hotel was closing for the winter and the heat to our room was turned off. Eventually got a space heater, however on the weekend, the heat miraculously came back on - Guess it was too expensive to heat when there were less people in the hotel -- Very annoying. 2.) There is a $25/day amenity fee which booking.com said was included. If everyone has to pay the fee, then it should just be a part of the room rate. Shame on a state owned hotel charging junk fees

Location close to Saratoga Track; classic architecture and grounds. The restaurant manager/hostess who apologized for light dinner menu on concert nights that ruined my anniversary dinner plans I had made at the Gideon Putnam.

Reserved table for a up-scale, romantic anniversary dinner in the Gideon Putnam restaurant only to be told that light dinners (flatbreads, salads, burgers) are on the dinner menu nights there are concerts at the neighboring Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I made the room and dinner reservations noting it was for my anniversary and no prior information was provided. Not expected at a $300+/ night hotel

This is a most interesting hotel, a product of the New Deal era, and a part of the history of the attempt to revive Saratoga Springs as a spa. The hotel and surrounding buildings are an essay in the grandeur of thinking about space at the time. Our suite was massive, which was most pleasant. The setting, in a state park was also lovely. The staff were very New York, which is a good thing. The way the waiter at breakfast offered me a steak knife when he saw me struggling with the harder side of an English muffin in my Eggs Benedict was priceless. Our stay was overall lovely.

There was only one--old--elevator for guests, which is tricky at the moment vis Covid. We ended up using the stairs a lot. There still needs a lot of work to be done to restore and upgrade the hotel, if it wants to be truly a luxury spa. The swimming pool and spa facilities are quite a hike from the hotel. The renovation, upgrade of our room, especially bathroom, was B+ at best, and the furniture could have been a little more imaginative. Dining facilities were also a little limited.

We came for the historic spa and appreciated the way features had only been only lightly renovated. We also had one dinner (on the patio) at the hotel and enjoyed the food. The room was clean, with a comfy bed. Room overlooked the patio and beautiful golf course grounds.

While lobby decor was quite elegant, our 2-room suite furniture was very dated looking and seemed inappropriate to the era. Luggage rack was on its last legs. Walls were thin; not soundproof. Our neighbor played FOX NEWS until midnight and then turned it on again at 7 am and we could hear every report.

The location could not be better if you are going to a concert at SPAC.Set in a beautiful park.Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The buffet style breakfast was very good, excellent coffee, pleasant and efficient staff.

The bar/restaurant doesn’t open till 5pm,the start time of the concert we attended. It then closed at midnight, barely an hour after the end of the show (food service stops at 10 pm),so basically it was useless to us. The tv had no signal.A call to the front desk informed us that the service was down.

plenty of staff to help in every way, front desk with advice on where to go, maintenance man (cable tv needed a boot) was kind and friendly, cleaning lady recommending the great breakfast, the welcoming girl at the door helping people in the rain with her umbrella, and the shuttle driver also helping people in the rain, Ann the waitress and the host were so friendly we ate there 2x a day! Between the Hotel History and all the staff's kindness not only will we be back but plan on making this an annual trip!

driver for the facility was wonderful as was the waitress. The one male desk attendant was wonderful and the location was magnificent. It was so peaceful and beautiful

the hostess for the restaurant was not very helpful and there were two desk staff (one male and one female) that were arrogant, snide and not helpful especially when there was no need for their attitude

Ron and Pete dropped us off and picked up us several times. They truly made our stay special. All the dining room staff showed us a lot of attention and the food was excellent. We also enjoyed sitting out front on the rockers having a cocktail.

Basically there was no housekeeping, we did not receive clean towels or water bottles. On our last night housekeeping came by at 5PM and wanted to clean, we were getting ready to go out for the evening so we grabbed a couple of bottle of water.

This is a beautiful setting and a grande dame hotel with a lot of style and creaky joints. I loved that it is NOT slick, polished or too modernized—but its all heart. If you can accept the “historical feel”, it is a gracious comfortable place to come home to. The staff is lovely and working so hard to keep things going during a resurgence in travelers. The shuttle was very convenient—to the track and downtown. Walking the grounds of the park in the morning -or evening- a wonderful bonus. We loved our stay.

Room was clean but a light bulb would have been nice! Breakfast too pricey -tho the room and outdoor terrace were pleasant to dine in but continental option would be appreciated.
