The Monte Vista Hotel

Coffee was quite good. For food, we went out to a local coffee shop that we could walk to. Close by free electric car charging which was free too. Liked that the room was roomy and comfortable. Charming atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. Near a number of businesses and attractions. Bathroom was large and stylish. Wifi worked well.

Breakfast looked rather limited and lowish quality. Bathtub spout dripped all night.

Staff was friendly and accommodating, the restaurant was charming and the food was delicious.

The only issue I had with the hotel was the Breakfast in the morning. There was a conference going on in the room where it was being served, so that was awkward. There was little selection and little food. The front desk staff was kind enough to get some hot water for my tea, but we did have to leave and find breakfast elsewhere.

First time to Black Mountain and decided to try the Monte Vista hotel. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed the bar, nice staff and great cocktails. The dishes we had were excellent. Room was very clean. We did hear some creaking from the floors but didn’t bother us. Some rugs in rooms might help. Overall excellent stay and location. Highly recommend

Very clean unit. Basic furnishings and bath features. Very convenient for walking into town. Friendly staff.

Breakfast subpar. I’m betting many of the offerings came from Costco, but a few days after purchase. The breakfast area is self-served. A nice space and no problem selecting a confortable and private space.

Old hotel setting and reception. Breakfast was good too. But the main reason i chose the hotel was the location (Black Mountain) and it didnt disappoint. Small town with lovely people. Great place to stay if you are travelling to see the Grandfather mountains early in the morning.

Floors are a bit creeky so might cause trouble for people living directly below your rooms.

The area was wonderful with lots of homelike aesthetics, the hotel was an antique and very special! A lot of old architecture you could see in the hotel which made it better. The room was very nice indeed.

No TV and only one outlet for charger. No fridge or coffee in the room.

It's rare to find a hotel with such a wonderful start to the day- protein, fruit, rolls, and great Dynamite coffee! We always love the real china and tablecloths--reminds us of European tours.

Our bad-we will order a King-size bed next time, for comfort.

A very elegant, historic site. Lots of character; great restaurant and bar. Staff is cordial and efficient. Within walking distance of shops and attractions. Great continental breakfast.

Wish I'd stayed longer.

Great location. Rustic. Good restaurant. Simple amenities, but all that was needed. Pleasant staff.

Minor inconveniences: no ice machine, no tv or refrigerator , but staff attentive to needs will continue to stay here.

We love the classic feel of this hotel. It is in many ways like stepping back to another time. This was the secong time we have stayed at the Monte Vista and hope to come back.

The hotel bar closes at 9PM, it needs to stay open later.
