Holiday Inn Express Charlotte West - Gastonia, an IHG Hotel

The staff was so amazing. They truly made us feel more like we were staying with family then in a hotel with strangers. our first night we arrived around 12:30 am there were some minor issues with the room that we were in but we were too tired to realize until the next morning. once we informed the front desk they moved us into a room that was right across the hall so we wouldn’t be inconvenienced and it went smooth. I have a 7 year old diabetic and every night she would want cocoa because it was cold and rainy and every night it didn’t matter who was at the front desk they would find and give her hot cocoa which made her night. Every staff member we saw would say hello ask how we were doing, do you need anything, etc…, and always wished us a great day or evening. The rooms are very spacious and the hotel was super clean and quiet, other than my 7 year old when heading to or from our room. The breakfast was very yummy with a decent amount of options. Coffee in the lobby was always fresh no matter what time day or night that I had an urge to grab a cup. I have now found my place to stay whenever I’m in the area. I can’t thank them enough for being so kind, caring, and helpful. Thank you for an amazing stay.

My great grand daughters, ages 3 and 5 were with us and would have literally lived in the pool, Every minute was "lets go swimming." The staff was super nice about getting us towels and unlocking the door for us. they were great. The breakfast area was fantastic . Great food, kind staff, and very accomadating. Yes if in the area we would stay again,. parking was easy and close. And my oldest great grand daughter was the buttonpusher on the elevator rides, They loved it and so did we...

My stay could have been longer. lol

The staff were extremely kind. The gentleman at the front desk asked about our son's travel baseball tournament. He was very polite. The beds were comfortable and overall the hotel was quiet. They allowed pets. The continental breakfast was delicious.

The faucet in the shower needs attention. It would not stay in one place. While showering, the handle would begin to drop slowly which could cause the water to become extremely hot.

Reasonably priced. Not pet friendly BUT rather pet welcoming! Delicious breakfast. Absolutely wonderful staff.

Dispensers for body wash, shampoo & condition were set too high. Hallway carpet badly stained & needs to be replaced. Handicap room was all the way down the hall. A difficult thing to navigate if you use a cane.

Parking was available on sight and free. The breakfast was good with many options, including an egg option, protein (usually sausage links or turkey sausage patty), oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, pancakes (which were made for you at the push of a button), muffins, bagels, bread to make toast, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, and juice options from a machine. The beds were very comfortable, with plenty of pillows. There was a small refrigerator, hairdryer in the bathroom, coffee maker, desk, plenty of lighting options. This location seemed to be pet-friendly since many people had dogs.

The hotel was a bit difficult to find due to traffic patterns in the area. The area itself was just a bit desolate with empty and deserted buildings and parking lots. The rug was very badly stained in the room. The shower would fill up with water and not drain, so as you shower, you stand in just below ankle height water. There were not enough outlets to charge our devices. There was no cleaning service unless specifically requested (which nobody told us was necessary) so beds remained unmade and towels were not replenished.

Good variety of breakfast choices. Very satisfied. Great water pressure in shower. Comfortable bedding, firm mattress with soft pillow top. Many comfortable pillows.

Can't think of anything. Room 404, tv remote would not turn TV off. Bathroom did not have a functional vent fan. Shower curtain appeared to be designed for a RH tub (the screen section went wide to narrow from water source instead of the opposite).

The staff has been awesome with my family Very question we asked, they answered with ease. The treated us like people, not like a dollar sign.

I was sad that we couldn't have hot breakfast, but the options were awesome despite covid restrictions. The indoor pool was fun, very clean, and the staff were super friendly all the way through. They even baked fresh cookies and saved some specifically for my 3 kids:) The front desk employees, the room cleaning crews, and any one else that we met working in the hotel went out of their way to be sure that we were enjoying our stay and had whatever we needed. I will always appreciate this specific staff experience.

There was only one ice machine that worked on the property, but they are in the process of upgrading the hotel so this was perfectly fine. Also, after booking my family's "stay-cation" online a week prior, I was almost turned away at the door because we have a Gastonia address. I understand the reasoning behind the 'new' rule. Ill be sure to call other hotels ahead of time to check their policy. However, extremely family and pet friendly hotel.

the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean and housekeeping comes everyday with clean towels. The workout room was clean with working equipment. The free breakfast is good and fresh. I will definitely stay here again.

I have nothing negative to say about this property.

Staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Breakfast was very good and had many selections to choose from, room was very clean and well stocked, hotel hallways looked clean, rugs were cleans, and had an overall clean smell. Very nice to finally stay in a hotel that didn't have that putrid smell.
