Lightner Farmhouse B&B

The Lightner Farmhouse B&B exceeded our expectations. It was gorgeous, quaint, friendly, and comfortable. The rooms were spacious, clean, and adorable. The staff was kind. The breakfasts were downright incredible … homemade muffins, baked apples, parfaits, eggs, and coffee. Everything was well organized, down to the keypad programmed uniquely for you to come and go from the B&B as you wish, while maintaining a sense of security. The location was conveniently less than 10 min from all of the tourist attractions like downtown restaurants and tours. I do not hesitate to recommend this B&B and would definitely return.

Our hosts were outstanding as were the breakfasts. We appreciated the history provided and the conversation around the firepit. The location was convenient to downtown Gettysburg as well as the battlefield and the visitor center. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We would most definitely recommend this BnB.

We stayed in the Lincoln room and it was clean and comfortable. The only criticism we could possibly cite would be the noise you could hear in or through the walls of this room. We could hear people talking from the kitchen area and the porch sitting area outside our door and plumbing coming from upstairs. This is only a minor complaint as it certainly did not outweigh the outstanding attention and service.

The hosts were very cordial. We sat together in the parlor while they recounted a bit of the history of the farmhouse and its amenities. They had an excellent entry locking system that kept the farmhouse safe from interlopers, yet easy to enter day or night with a personalized code. The farmhouse and grounds were lovely and so peaceful. Breakfast was exquisite, and the coffee was perfectly brewed! I had unknowingly dropped my keys outside the night before, but another guest saw them and brought them indoors where the hosts made every effort to find their owner, which was me. I was so grateful! This farmhouse is just off Route 15, easy to find, and only one short exit away from Taneytown Road, which takes you directly to the Visitors' Center without having to navigate the busy, narrow streets of downtown Gettysburg. I highly recommend staying at Lightstreet Farmhouse!

What's not to like?

The farmhouse exceeded my expectations. Steve and Teresa were great host. Our room was spacious and clean. Steve gave us the history of the house during the Battle of Gettysburg and Teresa prepared a 3 course breakfast each morning. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The day of our departure they even has a author come in and talk about all the monuments located in the battlefield and the their meanings behind each statue and plack. Highly recommend staying here

Nothing, had a great weekend

Breakfast was great. The decor was nice and old fashioned. It really added to the whole historical experience of Gettysburg.

I didn't realize that our room would be on the third floor. We are in our 60's so getting our stuff upstairs was a bit difficult. Booking.com should have included a better description. This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast, so next time I would book directly with the facility and ask more questions regarding stairs and room locations. I would have booked a second floor room instead.

Beautiful property with friendly and welcoming innkeepers. The muffins and the French toast casserole was our favorite! I truly enjoyed learning the history of the property. Steve was amazing. The home is beautiful with exceptional rooms like a parlor and outside firepit. There is a trail to explore the area. Location is very close to the city yet far enough to enjoy some peace.

Breakfast was delicious! Home is beautiful and the owners were very accommodating and helpful. The home is part of Gettysburg history as it served as a hospital during the battle.

If I had to say something negative, for selfish reasons I wish this home was closer to the battlefield so I could walk out the door and explore the historic treasure of the Gettysburg battlefield. It is a short drive up a busy road. A car is necessary to get into the downtown...a short drive. This would not keep me from staying here again.

The farmhouse felt so welcoming the moment we walked in. We loved learning about the history of the house, the delicious breakfast, and getting recommendations for places to check out around town.

We don’t really have any complaints. The floor boards are creaky throughout, but thats expected with any historical building. They do provide you with earplugs, which is very thoughtful on their part.

Very nice quiet, serene setting. It was easy to relax in the indoor and outdoor spaces. The owners were delightful, and we enjoyed talking to them. They gave us some good ideas about where to go and what to see.

The only negative thing we can think of is that the mattress in our room was a little firm for our liking. We realize that is not something you can choose when traveling. This did not in any way interfere with our fun and enjoyment of the location,

This may be the first across-the-board excellent i've written; Every night and morning - and occasionally an afternoon nap - was exactly what we needed while touring Gettysburg. Steve and Teresa are warm, attentive, professional and solid hosts. As much chit chat as we wanted; all the information we could hope for. Really was a great experience for us. If you are looking for comfortable authenticity in a Gettysburg stay, do yourself a favor and just book this property.
