Settlers Inn

Jazz night last Wednesday made our stay especially memorable. It was fantastic music and it turned the whole experience into a real celebration. Breakfast was generous and delicious.

We were not happy to see "resort fee" on our invoice. We object to these additional fees we're seeing a number of inns and hotels tacking on to their advertised rate. Anyone can call themselves a resort and add these fees which seems kind of dishonest. We will call ahead to clarify whether our rate includes a resort fee and if so, we may opt for a place that is simple a nice country inn which is how we used to think of The Settlers Inn.

A lovely, well-maintained historic inn full of Arts & Crafts era character. Friendly and accommodating staff, and tasty fresh prepared breakfast options. The Grant's Woods area offers a great place to sit outside in nice weather with shady trees and a variety of chairs, tables and lounge furniture. In just a short walk you can reach the small town center of Hawley which offers a few shops and restaurants.

No fault of the inn, but the only thing we would wish was a bit different was that there wasn't an occasionally busy intersection next to the inn.

The garden

Room was not updated. Bathroom was not completed painted. Food reviews said that the food was excellent and both the breakfast and dinner was below average. The food servers were both nice, efficient and the food was delivered quickly. The breakfast server could not provide grape jam and I could not order an omelette with ham and cheese. I was told I can only subtract ingredients from the Omelettes on the menu. How can any Hotel not offer these general and standard items.

Lovely country inn with nice gardens and grounds. Excellent service and very nice breakfast. Exceptionally beautiful public areas.

No complaints except that our room was to small to be truly comfortable. However, that was my own fault since I booked the smallest room since we were only staying one night to sleep and had not much time to linger. Saw other rooms that were much bigger and very nice and wished I had booked one of those.

We loved the atmosphere of the inn and the gardens. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying. The staff was very pleasant. The young man who drove the shuttle was so sweet and we appreciated him telling us about the town.

The room and bed were a little smaller than we thought it would be, but, other than that it was nice. It was hard to sleep at first because someone was going in and out of their room and kept slamming the door, (Not the fault of the inn).

The manager greeted us when we checked in and helped carry luggage to the second floor to our room.The room was small but comfortable. The lobby/living room area is large with comfortable seating and an adjacent bar so that friends can gather to socialize.

We had two meals in the dining room and both times the service was extremely slow.

My husband and I had a very relaxing few days. Breakfast everyday was the start to delicious choices of fresh local ingredients that made the start of each day perfect. The beautiful gardens and s’mores night made the day even more enjoyable to meet with people and unwind. Our room overlooked the gardens and it was lovely to look out on each morning. The staff was more than helpful, very friendly and always a pleasure to greet. I will definitely book another relaxing stay at this wonderful Inn.

This is a B&B, so breakfast was included. It was from a menu, but cooked to order. The breakfast food was quite tasty, with plenty of juice and coffee as needed. The Inn is an old building (from 1933?), so the rooms showed some of that age, but the facilities (sink, tub/shower, faucets, toilet) were quite modern. It was a small room (I think they all are), but it was comfortable and cozy. The grounds and garden around the Inn are outstanding! Very picturesque and pleasant to be in. There is a river (the Lackawaxen River) right behind the hotel, and it's a real jewel!

Nothing really to say here; the staff, facilities and amenities were really great. I guess I was disappointed in the toast they served me 2 days out of 3; the first day, it was artisan bread as advertised. The next two days it was dry, cold store-bought bread.

The setting, property, and history were wonderful. It would have been nice to have more than one night in the area to enjoy the inn and surrounding hiking more.

It would have been very helpful to have detailed instructions on how to use the air conditioning in the room. We played with it a lot to get it where we needed it and ended up using the baseboard heat at the same time as the wall a/c unit to get the right temp. The instructions on the door were terrible and inaccurate for how to operate it. The tub is EXTREMELY slick and needs a non slip mat in it for safety. Definitely a fall hazard. We ended up using a hand towel in it to stand on for safety.

The atmosohere was so cozy and all staff were extremely friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was also super cozy and had a relaxing vibe to it. The grounds were beautiful and really nice to walk around and explore with lots of options for enjoying the outdoors to relax and have some drinks.
