Holiday Inn Express Pittsburgh West - Greentree, an IHG Hotel

When we checked in and had requested a king bedroom on upper level, the receptionist gave us a free upgrade to a 1-bedroom suite on upper level. It proved to be a real asset: since it rained on Saturday limiting our outdoor activities, our friends in another room came to our suite to visit. We liked that the parking was free and the hotel was easy to locate right off the parkway.

The morning breakfast area was full and wished there were more tables to accommodate the weekend crowd.

The size of the room was good, definitely liked it there were a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The size of the bathroom was good, and the pillows and bedding were comfortable. The Dove toiletries were super nice! Also, the breakfast was awesome! The people who were staffing the breakfasts each morning were very kind and sweet! The free parking with easy access to the building was an absolute bonus in this area! I really liked the lamps! They were very cute and it gave it a much more homey feeling with a bit of class!

The size of the TV was much smaller than I would expect for this facility, there were broken/out of order machines on our floor. Otherwise, not much to say that would be negative!

Staff were super friendly and ready to accommodate. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Great location for getting into the city. Breakfast area was open and inviting.great selection of food choices, breakfast staff friendly and work hard to keep food refreshed and area clean. Beds comfortable, no wait for elevators. Pump soaps, shower cap and make up remover wipes in bathroom. Overall, happy with price and value.

Not much around the hotel area to do if you do or see.

The breakfast offerings were varied and delicious. The room was comfortable and quiet. The location was excellent for someone with their own transportation who did not want to spend more money to stay downtown. Parking was plentiful and right next to the hotel and free.

My only complaint is that the bathtub was slick, so I was not comfortable getting in and out of the bathtub or standing to take a shower. There is one bar to hold on to which is convenient for the shower.

First time in Pittsburg! we didn’t know the lay of the land or how much traffic there would be! we opted to stay here because it was “outside of the city” on Google maps and we assumed it’d be 15 min away from downtown which we were okay with! IT IS ONLY 6 MINUTES from downtown. No traffic even during rush hour times (calculating from 3pm-6pm because we’re from Toronto). Staff was amazing from check-in the gentleman asked if I preferred lower or higher floors (which is rare) I opted for higher to which he responded we might be able to catch a city view… 819 was our room I think … we seen the building! Amenities from Dove which I’d never seen before plus also tons of product, towels, and space! (granted we had a double Queen) We ran into time trouble the day of check-out and requested an additional hour before we had to leave which was graciously appreciated.

We thought breakfast was great, especially after Covid most places don’t serve hot meals, this hotel does but not a lot of options (or maybe we were just late.. 9am) one style eggs flipped to look like an omelette, bacon, and biscuits

The breakfast choices were exceptional, including hot foods such as oatmeal and eggs. The location was good, about three miles from downtown Pittsburgh. We especially enjoyed biking the Pittsburgh trails on either side of the river. Our visit to the Carnegie Science Museum was also wonderful. The king suite was great and included a larger fridge and a sofa bed. There was a nice park right next door and a lot of restaurant choices within a mile from the room. The front desk staff were very helpful with suggestions about area highlights and how to access them.

The wifi was a bit spotty. When it didn't work within the room, it did work within the lobby area. There were also business computers in the lobby area that included free printing.

The bed was VERY comfortable. The room was large and very clean. The bathrooms were extremely clean and I loved the shampoo/conditioner and body wash by Dove. The closet space was substantial. The desk was spacious to spread out and work and having a microwave and coffee keurig was a definite plus! The front desk staff, both late at night when checking in and morning when checking out were very friendly. Breakfast was good also.

The TV remote was a little temperamental. We did not have a guide to the tv channels, however, we were still able to find something on TV. I would have preferred to have control of the refrigerator temperature, although it was sufficient.

The room was very clean which is always the most important to me. We were only there for one night - came from Buffalo to see a concert and went back the next morning so I can t speak to the location other than in relation to the concert venue. It was a short Uber to the venue, ride was easy to get. Didn’t use any of the amenities and wasn’t up in time for the free breakfast.

Parking lot had A LOT of litter.

Conveniently located next to highway. Breakfast was good and adequate. Also kept some luggage in the storage room in front after check-out. The front desk staff was great!!

Needed to request housekeeping explicitly to remove the trash, which they did not do on a couple of days. Hope they had provided more coffee and creamers in the room, which we got from the front desk.

The staff was AMAZING!!! The room was clean. The size of the room was great! The manager even let us check out late. (Housekeeping still woke me up at 8 by knocking but, that’s cause we didn’t have a do not disturb sign on the door- cause there wasn’t one to do that. So I can’t blame her). They offer water in the lobby. Everyone was super friendly.

The bed was ok- but I wish it was more comfortable. The room was clean- but, the hallways were not. The ice machines are only on floors 4 (didn’t work), 6, and 7. I was on floor 1. There was only 3 pillows for the king size bed (I figured there would be 4), and when I asked for another they couldn’t locate even 1 more. The trash cans were overflowing the night I arrived.
