Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant

The staff was great. Gift shop was huge. Caboose theme was perfect for us and our grandson. Petting zoo had 3 piglets, super cute! The on site buggy rides were a huge hit with our 8 year old (and us). We went twice! The Toy Train museum is within walking distance and it was awesome. Loved it.

The sleeping berths were really narrow. But after all, it was a train.

The food was delicious and above expectations. Very fresh and tasted locally sourced, we loved it! The petting zoo was also wonderful and our boys loved being able to go down to the train tracks. The cabooses were also a huge hit! They loved every minute and had a blast :)

The bed mattresses were a bit uncomfortable but we only stayed one night so it wasn’t much of a big deal. Other than that the room was as expected and had everything we needed for one night stay!

Caboose has been on our list to stay for the past 5 years and finally it has happened. Our Caboose was just what we needed. Comfortable and quaint. Everything you needed was right there and in quantity. Even a special little touch of the Bible opened to a Bible verse. I really liked that.!! My girls thought the caboose was small, but of course teens adapt after they got settled from riding in the car for over 6 hours and then they ventured off around the property. They loved seeing the animals and feeding them, and taking our horse and buggy ride was a nice change for the girls. Our driver watched our horse team with care as vehicles passed by. At Casey Jones, for breakfast you have to get the blueberry stuffed french toast it was phenomenal. They used real cream cheese, instead of that sugary stuff like Ihop does. Being diabetic, it made my mouth water with every bite. They are doing construction with new buildings going up I'm eager to see in the next couple of years of how it turns out.

The whole concept was fun for the kids, the railroad coming though and the petting farm was a bonus! Playground was a nice addition!

The bed was soooo loud /squeaky!!! In a room with our 2 daughters and my MIL in other room (no door between)?and every time i moved i thought i would wake everyone up! But was very comfy.

The caboose was a caboose and you can't change the size of it. It was small but absolutely fantastic to stay in. We loved the fact that we were inside an old redone caboose. Plan and simple, you must try this at least once!! Don't forget to eat at the restaurant (yes it's a train coach!!!!) It has an awesome deck you can have a late night beverage on as well!! Also has a cool little petting zoo and you can take a buggy ride onsite. A kid train musuem was right next door as well!! My wife and I also took a train ride, which was right down the street!. Yes, lots to do and see!!! Book it and try it!!

The smell of the horse waste that stayed on the road for a day out near our room wasn't pleasant. Other than that it is such a fun and unique place.

Very Rustic styling but kept amazingly clean. The staff were all enthusiastic and friendly. Restaurant was tasty. Peaceful country air blended with the sounds of trotting horses and the whistle of old number 89 of the Strasburg Railroad. Also close to National Toy Train museum, and minutes from RR Museum of PA.

Wifi was a tad spotty, but the fact that we had this level of internet service in a rural setting neutralized the complaint. Not sure how 4 people would actually fit in our small family one, but it was perfect for Ma and I. (It's a caboose, it's going to be a smaller space, and they made use of the space quite well)

This was our 5th time staying here and we love it!!! The bed was very comfortable and the bath was clean! They gave us a call when our train car was ready and we were able to check in early. The restaurant is a plus being onsite along with a gift shop and buggy rides! The steam engine goes by the property 2 times every hour! Very close to all the attractions in Lancaster.

The observation tower is now locked and we were unable to climb it like we did every time we’ve gone. A nice addition to there property would be an ice cream station!

Very unique and cute hotel rooms in cabooses. We’ve been going for just over a year now, and loved it so much that we’ve gone back every season.

The only thing is I wish they were pet friendly at least for small dogs; or a small area of designated rooms.

Quaint and novel accommodation, basic but spotlessly clean. A must for railroad enthusiasts! A bonus to have so many facilities on site, especially Casey Jones’ restaurant with delicious home cooked food. Staff were great. Very convenient for the Strasburg railroad museum and the Railroad museum of Pennsylvania. Also interesting to be in the heart of Amish culture. Recommend Kelly’s kitchen for authentic Amish fayre.

Accommodation was a little cramped, but you wouldn’t expect anything else if staying in a caboose!

We booked this vacation around going to the Sight and Sound Theater. We loved the location and the atmosphere of your property. Everything was ready when we arrived and the staff was amazing! We ate two of our meals at the Casey Jones Restaurant and enjoyed both the food and the staff. The gift shop was fun to walk around and see what was offered to purcase. It was a very pleasurable experience, especially since we love trains!

We really enjoyed our stay and only wished that the Toy Train Museum was open during our stay.
