When it comes to cheap motel rooms, only one thing really matters: the room was exceptionally clean. When I got there the young man who checked me in was in the middle of doing more renovations. Very positive look for the new ownership. No cut corners. I will be returning in the future.

Western PA has so much to offer. We felt safe at the Hopwood Motel, which is in a semi-rural location just south of Uniontown, PA. on the historic National Pike. From there, we accessed the Flight 93 Memorial, the Johnstown Flood Memorial, the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail, the Cumberland, MD area, Wheeling, WV, towns such as Greensburg, PA (which has a great Mediterranean restaurant), and nearby Uniontown, PA stores (Wal-Mart, etc.) and restaurants (Mexican ones, Olive Garden, etc.). The motel managers were very helpful and accommodating.

Our van had some trouble with back-road steep grades (some as much as 13%). If your vehicle is somewhat temperamental, we recommend sticking with smoother roads such as parts of 119, 219, PA 70 and PA 76. However, the back roads are simply beautiful, so perhaps its good to try some.

The location was convenient. The hotel was very clean and nice. We had the coffee machine in our room.

No breakfast, none expected. This is an old motel being refurbished by the owner who actually has tools charging in the office. He is a nice guy! Good comfortable room with microwave and small refrigerator was comfortable enough for a good night of sleep. Room was not spacious but adequate, water was hot, Kuerig coffee machine worked just fine. For us the location was good for an in and out overnight stay at a reasonable cost.

Pillows have a kind of plastic pillowcase under the cotton case that is really irritating. My wife (who has sensitive skin) developed a terrible rash around her eyes from simply using a washcloth. Something in the detergent used for laundry must be the culprit. While the bathroom was clean, it was tight.

Even though it was small it was comfortable and emasculate. The owner(?) was so accommodating. Him and his assist saw how tired we were and that my husband was limited physically, they carried our luggage in and upon checkout the carried it out again! They were so polite and friendly! one of the best stays we have ever had! Strongly recommend!!!

The Motel was very moms & pops like.. The staff was very friendly, and always a smile. Bottle water and granola in our room upon arrival. Definitely will be coming back next year for our family gathering. The price was excellent. We stayed for 3 days and really enjoyed our stay!

The air unit had a weird smell, but we cleaned the filter and it was perfect. The bed was hard, but we got used to it after 3 days of staying there. Even those couple of things aren't too bad.

Hopwood Motel is a mid-century hotel, so it is a little "worn" around the edges. However, the management keeps the rooms clean, the mattress appeared to be brand new, and the room was spotless. We had an issue in our first room with an ac that didn't function, but they moved us quickly to another room.

As long as you know what to expect, you will not be disappointed. This is not a full service hotel with breakfast, it is a cozy place to sleep in the midst of traveling - no more, no less.

it’s on the older more date side but it’s very well taken care of, very clean and the staff is very friendly. The property seems very safe and it’s in a cute, small town. Nothing felt sketchy or unsafe- it’s a great value for the price, would definitely stay there again!

Adorable vintage motel with wonderful new owners who are making many improvements to the property. Ver friendly, helpful sightseeing & dining tips. Very fair price for the quality. Would definitely stay here again.

love that our room had a dining table, definitely a wonderful feature. the motel is very old school and charming because of it. owner was friendly and they make an effort to make the room cozy with little flowers on the table.
