Scarborough Beach Motel

Cannot beat the location, directly across from the beach and very close to small strip mall with grocery and stores. Breakfast was bagels, coffee, juice. No housekeeping during your stay but that is not unusual anymore, so it was expected. There is a breakfast spot and restaurant right next door but that is closed Monday and Tuesday. Staff was pretty friendly. Great spot if you goal is to hit the beach and pretty close to Newport for shopping.

The wifi was really bad, we tested the speed while we were there and it was so slow it wasn't useful at all. The TVs have cable but would have been nice to be able to stream as well (which would need better wifi). We needed handicapped parking and there were no spots, but the owners said they plan to correct that situation and made sure we had what we needed.

The room was updated (you could tell it was an older place). The location was as close to the beach as you can get there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The shades were cool as we could see out but no one could see in which was helpful as we were next to the office and in the morning there were a lot of people walking by.

The bathroom was very small (but clean and functional). There was no view and we were right next to the office, so in the morning there was a lot of staff coming and going in front of our window and it felt not so private (but the shades helped a lot!).

Room was clean when we arrived. Stocked with towels and toiletries. Coffee and bagels in the morning. Check in was fast. Lady who checked us in was very knowledgeable of the facilities and town as well as good places to visit. She also did a fabulous Job keeping a rowdy pack of high schoolers under control our first night. She chose us a room on the other side of the building so we wouldn't have to deal with them, without us asking. I felt like she was dedicated to us enjoying our stay. The owner also intervened with a few loud men the second night. (We are traveling with a toddler). Perfect location for walking to the beach. Close to shops and a few historical attractions.

We stayed 4 nights. They don't have daily cleaning service. We were told during check in to notify them if we wanted room cleaning service. Of the 4 nights, we only had a room cleaning once. We were told since we had our room cleaned the second day, that we can't get the room cleaned again. They did allow my husband to use a broom and dustpan to clean up the sand in the room.

Really cute and clean motel right on our fave beach, we could see the ocean from the balcony, just walk across the street! Recently updated rooms are small but worked fine for a quick overnight getaway. Shower was the best pressure and hot water I've EVER had in any hotel, and I've stayed in A LOT of places in my 60yrs of life. Landscaping and new paint made this place feel warm and welcoming. Picnic area is shaded by trees, outdoors, nice touch. We got the room at a discount so it was just under $200. w/tax. which felt just about right, value wise. We will return when visiting RI beaches in the area.

Only complaint was the coffee table outside of our room was stained and someone had spilled coffee on the deck. Very easy fix. Everything else was excellent.

All an all, great location, room was small, but the only time in there was to sleep. Easy short walk to the beach. Several restaurants and attractions within 10min.

Queen size bed would of been a lot comfortable for couples. Booked for ocean view but wasn't really able to see from outside the room. The room did have a musty smell upon arrival as most motels do that are close to the ocean, thankfully I had a spare car air freshener that I put on top of the air unit which took care of that smell.

Can’t beat the location. Morning walk on the beach! Rooms were beautifully done. great little breakfast lunch and dinner place next door food was really good.

The only thing is room was damp. The AC didn’t dry out the room like we thought it would. Most likely how it is when you’re at the beach but we couldn’t get anything to dry. Not a big deal or the fault of the property but worth mentioning. Some rooms had a dehumidifier on it but ours didn’t. Maybe that would have helped in our case. Again not a game changer.

Cleanliness, modern updates, parking, room size, location to Scarborough Beach, staff, wifi, included coffee & bagels, mini fridge, AC, fan, TV, comfortable beds, outdoor seats & bench.

Shower small, cost a little steep although offset by not having to drive to or pay for parking at the beach, could offer a bit more for breakfast - maybe bread for toast, cereal for kids, fruit. Especially when the restaurant in the same lot is closed on Tuesday.

Great location and a wonderful room. We got a room with a view of the beach! Easy to walk across the street to enjoy the waves. There have been upgrades since we were here last, and it really showed. Friendly and helpful staff and a wonderful little getaway.

The only complaint we had wasn't the hotel staff's fault at all - the person in the room next to ours kept stepping out to smoke on the patio, which meant we could smell it in our room.

Beautiful room with a great view of Scarborough State Beach! Comfortable bed with mini fridge, coffee brewer, and microwave in the room! Free cable TV and WiFi also! Stayed 4 nights during Christmas weekend, and first time I've been back to Scarborough Beach area in 40 or more years! Motel owners were very friendly and helpful! Free coffee and bagels available for breakfast.

No dislikes here! Only wish I could have been able to stay a few more days longer!

GREAT Location, directly across the street from beach. Next to a seafood/pizza restaurant and a ice cream stand. We had standard queen room (#114) the room was clean and freshened up for the new season. The only cons we had was the size of that shower. It is barely the size of the old phone booths! And the noise from the air conditioner. That a/c appears to be an older model and it sure sounded it. However, neither of those issues would stop us from staying there again.
