Horseshoe Riverside Lodge

We made this reservation while we were on the way to Canyon Lake. The innkeeper was very welcoming and friendly. The entrance to the rooms are from the outside, but we felt very safe. The room was clean, cleaner than most of the 4-star hotels I’ve stayed in. Even the windows are spotless. The staff checked up on us to make sure all our needs are met. The views from the back are amazing! Will stay here again.

Nothing against the property, but more of a preferential thing. I like sleeping on firm mattress and the mattress was too soft for me. Also, if you plan on doing work, the wifi is on the weak side. Again, I wouldn’t count this as a con since most people come to this area to relax and I honestly wasn’t expecting the wifi to be strong given the location.

We consider ourselves lucky to have found this lodge! it was located just a short distance from Gruene, where we had spent the day. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a nice view of the river. We loved the outside space!! Our back door opened to a large patio with benches to enjoy the view even more. There was a swing and slide for kids young and old. Our favorite part of our visit was getting up in the morning and fishing the Guadalupe just steps from our room. The staff was super friendly and helpful!! You could tell they wanted us to have a nice stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Loved everything!

We love everything, the Owner was so kind all the time and the room was clean, we love the decoration in the room and looks and smell as a cabin, like wood. The view is fantastic, suuper relaxing, my kids play a lot in the swings and played by the river in front our room. Definitely we will come back.

Just the pillows don't are comfortable but the owner promised that next time she will give us soft ones.

The room was small but still plenty of room for the 2 of us. The bed was very comfortable - so much so my husband wants me to call back and see what brand the mattress was - we looked while there but it was in a zippered mattress protector. The patio/deck that the room opened up to was awesome - it had plenty of benches/tables and the view of the river was so pretty. Loved sitting out in the early morning drinking my coffee and watching the fishermen go try their luck.

The location was great, right on the river and next to the preserve. We stayed 2 days for a wedding. The owner was nice and the cleaning lady brought us towels and an iron when we asked. The rooms look just like the pictures online. The only picture I took was from the front door of our room. The view is pretty. The back door looks out onto their patio and the river. The back door didn't have a deadbolt which made us weary at first but you couldn't open the door without the room key. Overall the lodge was quiet and very nice.

Loved the location, the wonderful staff, and the patio facing the river. I loved they had fire pits at the lower level to use. We sat out at night watching the fire and talking.

It was clean but hair in the keurig so we didn't use it to make coffee. Hairs in the tub. It wasn't a big deal but we would prefer no hair.

The manager running the place did an amazing above and beyond experience helping to accommodate us. She went out of her way to help me setup a surprise for my wife. If you are looking for a nice clean cozy spot for you, your family or loved ones this is definitely the place I'd recommend you visit. At the end of the day you can sit around a fire place or be near the river enjoying the fresh air. This place is amazing

There really wasn't anything that my wife and I didn't like. This place is an amazing cozy spot that we recommend to anyone looking to visit Canyon Lake.

Perfect location for staying and floating the river. Amenities were superb. Owners are awesome! Staff goes above and beyond. Very decent price for the value.

Nothing I didn’t like except for the weekend going too fast.

Excellent location for floating. Private entrance to Guadalupe river to float. Tube rentals by shanty right next door. Very friendly staff. Asked for extra towels and the housekeeping was there in minutes Excellent location to whitewater amphitheater.

Only thing would be the water pressure in the shower

If you want to be close to water recreation, you can't get much closer. Really nice renovation that provided everything we needed. It was also surprisingly quiet for being located next to the road.

The sheets were a little pilly. Bed was comfortable.
