Hotel Washington

Very nice little hotel in an excellent location for taking in the sights in DC. Rooms are a little on the small size, but not out of the ordinary for big metro areas in my experience. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Valet service was excellent to work with. Unfortunately their main restaurant was undergoing remodeling when we stayed, but they had two other alternatives, and there were plenty of other choices within a short walk.

We needed to check out fairly early at 6 am to get back on the road. Was told by the desk staff that the Bell staff had not arrived yet so we couldn't get a luggage cart sent to our room. This is the only thing I'd mark this hotel down for.

Hotel Washington is in a very central position for exploring DC. 5 minute walk or less to the White House and 5 minute walk to the national mall, 3 blocks from a metro station. I loved the location. We had a disabled room which was superb for my husband’s needs. The staff on the front desk and doormen were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The disabled room was accessed through two doors, one from the corridor and then another from an anti area and it was a bit tricky with a mobility scooter as you had to navigate through one door, close it and then try and get through the next door. This would have been difficult for a disabled person on their own without help. Once in the room it was a fantastic size and the bathroom and shower was excellent.

The location was great. Nowhere in DC is a 'short' walk - but the location of the hotel made it easy to get to most of the area's places of interest (monuments, museums, Georgetown, the White House, etc). Lovely historic building and public rooms. Our room was fairly well appointed with a nice bathroom and was really clean - but it was not very big, even though we were advised we had been given an upgrade to a 'more comfortable' room. I'm not sure how much smaller a double room could have been.

Rooftop bar is VERY expensive. We paid $45 for two drinks - a Jack Daniels and Coke and a Gin and Tonic. Also on arriving back at the hotel one day after a long day walking the city, there was a long queue for the elevators to get back to our room. Unfortunately hotel staff prioritised conference delegates for the elevators, allowing them to skip the line, leaving hotel guests to wait in the queue like second class citizens. That didn't feel great.

Great location for walking and getting around. Very hip decor througout. Comfortable bed and linens. Very clean. Loved the washroom design. Lots of interesting lighting options in the room, however had difficulty figuring out what switch worked which lights.

Expensive for the small size of room. Windows looked directly into office windows across the street. Expensive lattes at the coffee bar, even with a 50% discount coupon. Friday and Saturday nights it gets very busy in the lobby with people going to rooftop bar; had to line up for the elevator. Walls are not very soundproof, could hear a lot of noise from next room over.

The staff and service were impeccable. Every individual was friendly, helpful, and personable. All questions and requests were responded to promptly and patiently. Great location in downtown D.C. close to Metro and easy for ride share. It's kind of a hot spot vibe, especially on the weekends with Vue rooftop bar. Nicely appointed rooms, lobby, and a great fitness center. Pelotons are always a bonus! Lovely shower and bath. Very cool light settings throughout the room. For a fun, vibrant weekend, I'd consider it a worthy splurge.

Rooftop bar and music and chatter traveled down to the 8th floor room. It was a low volume, and because we were traveling for leisure, it was fine; if you're looking for peace and quiet, it could be a problem.Wish the room was a bit larger.

The staff was extremely friendly, I got upgraded to a much better room with the view of the White House for free. The rooms are breathtaking, the design, furniture and just the overall finishing is beautiful. This hotel definitely exceeded my expectations. Found my hotel for every time I visit DC !

The access to the rooftop after a certain time in the evening. Residents cannot access the top floor “R” from the floor they are staying on, and instead they have to go to L* and take a different elevator that will then take them to the rooftop “R”. If ID check is required, I’m sure it can be done at the top floor itself, before entering the rooftop restaurant and the lounge.

The location of the Hotel is awesome. From the rooftop you feel you can stretch your arm and touch the White House. Walking out of the Hotel's front door, brings you directly to the heart of the US Capital. The neighbourhood is clean and bright, and you feel comfortable and safe. The rooms were great an spacious. Great value for money for our stay.

Although we asked for two adjacent rooms, this was initially provided but the rooms were not identical in size. The second room was (a lot) smaller, although the reservation was for identical room types. So we had to switch one of the rooms, to another one 2 floors further up. That was OK, although we were not able to communicate (2 families) easily since we could not use our room's cards in the elevator, to go to a floor different than the room's. That somehow did not help our (short) stay.

Great vibe. beautiful suite and decor. Location was perfect. Three minor issues we called the desk about were handled within minutes of the requests.

We had a suite. It was beautiful. however, the in suite amenities were lacking. A Nespresso machine with 2 regular, 2 decafs and 2 paper cups that didn’t fit under the machine. Real cups and real glasses in the bathroom would have been expected at the price point. Maybe a wine glass or two? I know we were paying extra for the space and a view but the lack of expected little luxuries were lacking. The beautiful bathroom was only beautiful to the eyes. The shower door did not keep water in and flooded the floor, the bathtub was beautiful but uncomfortable, I could find no adjustable lighting for ambiance during a soak, and the sinks were too small.

The location was probably the best in all of DC. This was the closest hotel to all of the attractions. I could not imagine booking a different hotel based on location alone. My wife and I walked 75 miles while we were in DC for a week, but I could not imagine what this would have been had we stayed at any other hotel.

The bathroom door was not good. It was a barn door style door, so they are never fully closed. Not only that, but this particular door was extremely hard to shut and open. That was the only negative about the entire stay.

This hotel is right around the corner from the White House, so for a city trip it could not be located any better. The area around is a bit quiet, but in return you are very close to The Mall and the main points of interest. The rooms had a good size, the bed was comfy and the showers were good. Also the place was clean. Best part of the hotel is the roof top bar from where you can see the White House. Of course a bit pricey, but we did enjoy the breakfast and the drinks there.

The city tax increased after we had booked and there seemed to be a dispute between Booking and the Hotel about who should cover this. In the end it got resolved in a satisfying way, but 1) we should not have been confronted with it in the first place as we booked a rate including tax and 2) it was a bit annoying that we found this out when we had to rush to catch our train.
