it was a cool modernized vintage motel. my room was huge. parking was assigned and just outside my door.

although it was nice to have assigned parking right outside my door, my room was literally surrounded by cars (I had room 18- Mount baker) I had a sitting room with sliding doors and there was a van parked outside it, so with the shades open I stared at a car while I worked on my computer there was no way to make coffee inside my room. (but a good excuse to walk a block down the street to a good coffee shop)

The hotel is retro and stylish, VERY clean, with some fun touches, like a blackboard in the room where you can record discoveries during your stay. The bed is cozy and comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful. The surrounding neighborhood is charming and quiet, with many heritage homes to delight the eye. There is the lovely Elizabeth Park only a couple of blocks away. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The shower was great, but the floor felt a little slippery, so tread carefully. I felt there were too many rules for dogs, but to be fair, perhaps it’s the result of trial and error.

Everything about this place, I loved. I wish I could have stayed longer. It is very clean which is very important, very fresh, modern but very warm. Its a motel layout but it feels like everything is new. The actual neighborhood is super adorable where the homes are and it's a great place to walk or ride your bike. I loved waking up to getting coffee, sitting on one of the property benches, smelling fire from a fire pit somewhere, hearing the birds with lots of trees all around. Everyone was super friendly and staff was friendly and professional. All soaps and shampoos smelled of lavender and other yummy scents. Also, right when you walked in the door, it smelled so nice in the room. It was such a peaceful place and immediate surrounding neighborhood

I echo the same about the room needing a microwave. I don't use the microwave much in regular life and I was only there 1 night so I didn't need it but I could definitely see how if you were there more than 1 night that that would be a real bummer. With gas prices, inflation on food, etc. I could see not being able to warm food up would be tough, especially bc there's not too many restaurants to choose from and restaurant eating is expensive

The young man who met me was so professional. Cody was friendly and went out of his way to provide information, help, and refreshments. Starting the morning with a french press coffee was awesome. The facilities were wonderful.

Not really anything. The room was bright and clean, decorated with locally sourced and produced items. Both substantive and decorative. The shower was great. No complaints here, nothing I would ask to change.

This was our second visit to the Heliotrope. I like the simplicity of the room design. I found the design choices pleasing. There are good charging plugs on both sides of the bed and a speaker for audio or movie amplification. The walk in shower was terrific. My only suggestion would be to add an extra shade for the window that would allow some light and privacy, since the rooms are at grade level. I loved the ease of walking to a restaurant for dinner. In addition the internal parking lot feels secure.

The location was good for my needs. I appreciated the parking and the easy access to the room. There was enough space for my needs.

The down side of the location is the noise from the traffic on the street. The shower curtain fell down because they need more places to put towels to dry after use. But the shower curtain was fixed immediately.

We really liked this place. Loved the chalk and invitation to draw on the door. Receptionist was very friendly, polite, nice. Shower was great--large. Room large and comfortable; good lighting and plenty of plug ins for electronics. Nice wet bar area.

I like having a couple of chairs since, with two people, one has to sit on the bed (not a deal breaker); also, would be nice to have a place other than the floor to open our luggage. But these are minor inconveniences.

the location is great and walkable to many things in town the room was spacious with everything we needed.

there was an issue with the bathroom fan that needs addressed, we figured a workaround though and we’re grateful to have a fan since most hotels don’t have any decent ventilation

The location was good. Liked the hot drinks in the lobby (although the coffee was cold upon our arrival). Loved the chalkboard. The bed was comfortable. Had plenty of towels. The room was clean and ready for us when we arrrived.

Could not open the drapes - there was no privacy if we wanted to let the light from outside in. We heard the neighbor's toilet flush several times during the night. The heater did not work for quite some time. The bathroom floor was soaked after showering from condensation.

The Location was very central. The bed and linens and pillows were fantastic. The staff were kind and helpful. And the unit had lots of towels, good beer fridge and desk space. Great size. Chalkboard wall was a fun touch I’ve never seen in a hotel room before!

The room was quite noisy. Being a central location comes with drawbacks as far as noise goes. We could hear doors slam despite there being no hallways and there were so many trains/honks.
