Unique check-in by phone. No physical manager, but it was OK. We got what we wanted. Rooms very clean and Bath was also very clean. Smallish rooms, it a 60's style mom & pop motel, Lots of visiting fisherman with their boats. Quiet in evenings. Walls a little thin, but it's an older motel. Just tried to keep it down so others could sleep. I would stay here again. Reason we stayed in Algoma is that all the hotels in Sturgeon Bay were booked. We were there for Door County touring. Shower worked great, as did all the drains. We stayed three nights and it seemed this is a popular place .

The property itself was so cute, lovely little rooms, nice toiletries included, nice patio area to sit on outside room, our room was very clean!! The housekeeping ladies were so friendly and helpful. We met the manager of the property as well during our stay when we accidentally locked ourselves out of our car and he was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place + hope to be back again soon!! Great value, clean, friendly staff, good location and comfortable beds. This is one of the best motels I have stayed at. Thank you so much, River hills motel!!

The sink seemed to be a little clogged when we got here but we ended up getting most of whatever was in there out + it wasn’t an issue.

Location, location, location. We were traveling north, and this was the perfect stop over. The property is very clean. Let me explain clean: the lawn and property are well maintained. The room is fresh, and does not have 20 coats of paint, nor is there any smell of scents to mask something else. The tiles, walls, ceilings, everthing are fresh and clean. The room was exactly the size I had expected. Interestingly, the check-in process is very modern, and while we never met any staff, they were only a text away. Believe if we had needed someone physical, they would have been there quickly. Text: check in instructions were via phone SMS messaging, and was very responsive to questions. The directions to access the key box was simple to understand. With all this modernization, you were presented with a physical key, a throw-back to the 1970s when room keys were plastic fobs with a key and room number. I call this out because with all of the modernization, the key seemed unusual, but of no concern. The property is well lit, and very much good value for the money. The location of course already mentioned. I gave the comfort 3 stars out of 4 stars becaue the bed was very thick, but kind of lumpy. I had a good night sleep, but something about the bed felt unusual. My spouse laughed when I plopped down on my side, and her side billowed from the air which cascaded beneath the sheets/covers. Despite my concern, slept like a baby, so not a con, just an observation. Would definetly stay there again; communication was awesome; the property pristene; and the pictures well represent the property - likely the best property in the area in my book. A++

If I wanted to be critical, the property is well lit, the grass is so green and well manicured, it makes me want to go home, and bring my lawn up to their standards.

This was easily one of the best hotels/motels I've ever stayed at when it comes to no frills, cleanliness and value. The room was impeccably clean, nicely appointed and the check-in/check-out process couldn't be easier. We chose this motel for our trip to Door County based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. Although it was on the furthest south tip of Door County, it was perfect for our trip. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Great location and recently remodeled room that was very clean. Smaller room, but very cute & clean. Everything you need. Self check in went very smoothly. Management & staff just a call away.

Only complaint, you can easily hear all noise from next door rooms. Young couple next to us night one were quite loud & kept tv on all night. Somewhat disruptive to getting a good night of sleep. All else excellent.

We have stayed here a few times and love coming back. The staff and rooms are great-they are small but have all that’s needed -we travel all day and have a clean, comfortable room to sleep in. We love Algoma as well so it’s great.

The only thing that could have been better was lighting- a higher watt bulb in main ceiling light would be helpful- not a big deal though.

We appreciated the convenience of having the room within feet of our vehicle. Also one step up to doorway. If we were traveling with an elderly parent who used a walker or wheelchair, these features would make it easy to get to the room. The room was perfect for a place to rest before hitting the road again. It had the basics that were needed.

The location was convenient to downtown Algoma with its shops and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

The walls were thin between rooms. We could hear our neighbors clearly. Everything from their tv, argument and snoring. This made sleeping difficult.

Can tell room was updated recently. New fixtures, paint, etc. bathroom especially nice. We have often passed this hotel and having a short trip this was available -so glad we tried it. Great location. The soaps smell amazing and are high quality. Very surprised. The cleaning lady was nice and helpful and the check in person was super nice and helpful-check in is via text or phone call-see below.

Being that the space is limited, to sit at the table it was best to turn off the A/C otherwise too cold as table right next to it, again, tight space …The handle of the screen door was broken off. Although a lady was cleaning rooms when we arrived and was helpful, there is no “front desk” . check in is via text or phone-which was fine and worked well but 1st time doing this for us so was strange. Also, not sure how to get extra pillow or blanket-can text or phone but not sure how long to get item especially at night. Again, new experience for us. That being said we will stay here again as everyone super nice and room very good.

There was no continental breakfast only coffee in the room. Bed and room was comfortable…it was nice and quiet. The staff was helpful and placed my package in my room.

A little different on key retrieval, and having to be there before 10:00 pm to get it. The only contact with staff was via text or phone call.
