Great location in the centre of town walking distance to bridges and gaol. Inside and outside dining areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were large and shared bathrooms very clean and tidy. Does have a common /lounge room and a front verandah. There were coffee and tea provisions, toaster and jug for guest access in the bistro area downstairs.

Rooms were big enough to have a small fridge and even some chairs to sit on rather than just the bed. There was a common room/lounge room for guests but only had two plastic chairs in it!? Which we had to take outside to sit on the verandah, which overlooks the Main Street. it would have been great to have a fridge in that common room and tea and coffee making facilities so you didn’t have to go downstairs to make these. A few additions and this would get an excellent rating .

We chose the Criterion as we weren’t able to book a motel at short notice in Gundagai. many years since we stayed in a “pub” with bathroom down the hall but we were pleasantly surprised by our room and facilities. chose to eat in- house for dinner and it was good. a hook or rail near basin in bathroom would be useful for damp towels. thanks for a quiet comfortable stay.

muck from tge street on the front step of the foyer was mentioned to bar staff but I saw it was still there in the morning when we left!

Loved everything about the place, location, room size, bed, staff were phenomenal. Bathroom facilities were amazing...

Just putting it down to short staffing probably, but the bathroom facilities were cobweb, spider, bug ridden... otherwise beautiful facilities. I am terrified of spiders so it was my only negative.. but I bet it's not the hotels fault, just short staffing

stairs, which made getting luggage up to room difficult (I have a bad knee). I arrived really late and would have enjoyed a cup of tea, but shared dining room was closed for renovations.

A simple, clean, comfortable, quiet room for a stopover on the trip between Sydney & Melbourne. Staff were supper nice. Pizza was on offer for Sunday night dinner - it was delicious. Share facilities...but I was only one of two staying that night. The bathroom facilities were super clean, the water pressure great. it was a very humid night, so the air conditioner was appreciated!

Very helpful and friendly staff, I had put the wrong date in my booking and the pub was closed when I arrived but the staff went above and beyond to change my booking and accommodate me. Wish I had taken her name , Im sure you will be able to find who was rostered on the night

Central location, friendly staff, comfortable room, bathroom had very generously sized showers!

The only thing I noted is there was no toilet paper in the men's bathroom when I arrived, however that was easily sorted, otherwise the bathroom facilities were clean and roomy!

Clean comfortable place to sleep. Clean shared bathroom. Superb food in dining room. Great for an overnight stop on a long interstate drive for a single person.

Wish they'd had some sort of breakfast available. Never mind, quicker without. At least there was coffee.

Olde world comforts in an original building which has been maintained beautifully. It is a gorgeous bulding. Beds were really comfortable. Facilities are shared and are very clean and well cared for. The upstairs area is quiet and secluded from the main section of the pub downstairs. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Meals are available downstairs.
