The Cubana Resort Nambucca Heads

We just wanted somewhere to stay overnight on our way from Qld to NSW. It suited our needs and the room was clean and bed was comfortable. The restaurant wasn't open when we stayed (I think due to renovations), but it was a short walk/drive to the RSL where we had dinner. In the morning we walked into the main beach area near the breakwall and had a nice breakfast. We saw that there was a gym and bikes for hire, but we didn't use these facilities.

We stayed in Room 25 and it shared a car park with room 24. Due to bushes on either side of these parks, it would have been very hard to get in and out if both cars were here. We sort of parked in the middle to enable us to get out of our car without scratching it and to get our stuff out.

Loved our spacious cabana style room overlooking the lagoon, surrounded by tropical gardens, lots of trees and plenty of birdlife. It was handy having a restaurant onsite for a casual buffet breakfast when needed, or for fine dining at night. The private gym was also a bonus, a good size, with plenty of equipment and easy access 24/7. Although the Cubana Resort is located away from the main shopping area and beaches of Nambucca, it is only a couple of minutes drive in to the action, or an easy walk along the beautiful riverfront, through pretty parks to cafes, restaurants and the RSL.

This hotel is a true "find". The rooms are very large, exceptionally clean. The bath room design and layout gives awaay the age of the building - but dont let that put you off. The grounds are lovley, the reception area is being upgraded to match the wonderful bar and restaurant areas. It has a pool and jacuzzi ,if thats your thing. A must try is the restuarant on site. With simple expectations we were very pleasantly surprised by the decor, outlook to the lake, the menu and the food. Excellent food, great service from Lilly and the manager. Higly recommended.

Zero. Nothing to report in the dislikes section. Nothing should prevent you from booking this hotel. We loved it.

Everything was fine, large clean room, comfortable bed. Restaurant services good. Only problem was use of pool . All staff were attentive, helpful and friendly (with a smile)

We arranged a check-in for 1pm because we specially wanted to use the pool and spa in the afternoon. This was impossible. There were about 6/8 teenagers using the pool for some hours - running, jumping, water-bombing, filling the spa with some kind of detergent, also some of this got in the pool which tended to make the water cloudy, and seemed unclean. (Water was clear the next morning however). The same group left the pool area late in the afternoon, and appeared not to be guests of the Motel - they used the Old Pacific Highway to leave the premises

This is a very clean, modern, well appointed motel, close to the highway. It is a great option for people travelling from Sydney or Melbourne to QLD (and back). They have pet friendly rooms which is a rare find, but the pet friendly rooms at all located in a seperate section, so its not as if there are dogs everywhere! All the rooms are well spaced out, it is very quiet and there is plenty of parking. The grounds are lovely and they have a pool, steam room and spa. The rooms are basic but very clean, the beds are super comfortable, and the sheets and towels are all top quality.... the TV is new and has all the online apps. It really was a perfect stopover for a night but you could easily stay here for a few days. Nambucca Heads is a lovely part of the world... we went to the RSL for dinner which was good... an old school RSL which is a must on a road trip :) I highly recommend this motel, we will definately stay again.

The breakfast buffet is a bit basic being only continential, but if you are only staying for a night its fine. That said, its very reasonably priced and the coffee was good.

Everything! This place was absolutely perfect. I have a gorgeous little dog and it's so hard to find nice, clean pet friendly places with the standard of amenities Cubana have. The restaurant meals are absolutely delicious, the rooms are impeccably clean, inviting & quite large.... which was a surprise. My mum & I travel all over the world and this place really was amazing value for us and our furr babies! I live in Brisbane and my daughter lives in Sydney, I visit every few weeks, so this is definitely now my "half way"go to with my pup or even without him. BTW, I never write reviews!

Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean, modern and tidy. Location perfect. It was close to town but not too close. Steam room, spa and pool exactly as described. Restaurant food was tasty and affordable for both dinner and breakfast. Continental breakfast was fresh and had choices. Fresh yoghurts were very good. Reasonably priced rooms. Rooms serviced and replenished daily if required. Netflix option handy to entertain the family. Rooms were private with a great view of the water feature from the lake. Easy access to facilities.

Hot water in shower took a little longer to get warm. No microwave in rooms. No plates or bowls. Coffee sachets could be increased in quantity. WiFi played up and was slow on the first day we arrived and TV channels changing to black screen/flicking off to a black screen. Advised Maintenance person changing light bulbs, and the next day, we had better channel reception.

Loved the retro Art Deco colours and vibe from the accommodation and surrounds. The view out to the lake and the sounds of frogs and nature, it was a private and peaceful setting. Rooms where large and freshly renovated. Beds extra comfy! Not far off the main road either, however the GPS took us a round about way to get there.. They have canoe and bike hire as well which is great to explore the surrounding areas..such as the V wall and the Nambucca river..

The entrance to the place could do with better signage and landscaping as its tucked away behind a servo.

We arrived early and they allowed us to check in. Room clean and bed very comfortable. Extra pillows were a bonus. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.

One thing was the fridge was only a wine fridge with no freezer and not really as cold as a proper bar fridge. Luckily we had our own camping fridge with us. There were no bowls or spoons for us to have cereal but the staff were very quick to remedy this. Also thought there should be discloth, detergent and tea towels to do our dishes as we were there for 2 days. Otherwise it was good.

Great stopping place for Syd-Gold Coast journey. Huge rooms big enough for our morning yoga with a view over pond. King size bed!! Great quirky renovation of an older resort. Restaurant was excellent. Staff all happy and friendly. Would stop again.

Room was spotless except for some mould in the shower. Seems to be a bit of a problem in most accom these days - after all the rain or are cleaners just refusing to clean it? For the traffic sensitive- its quiet at night, but csn hear traffic from about 6am.
