Edgecliff Lodge Motel

I was worried about road noise from Old South Head Rd, as it is a busy road, but room was resonably quiet. If i dont have a view from a room, I prefer a room that can darken with curtains, etc. had good sleeps. Continental breakfast in room was sufficient. Toaster, microwave, kettle, etc were a bonus. Handy location for the eastern suburbs, bus stop outide hotel for city, or other suburbs, and train station about 500meters up the hill. Very good Italian, Indian & Japanese restaurants nearby.

I assumed our beds would be made after the first night, but they weren't. Room was cleaned & new towels provided. I think people do expect the beds to be made daily.

Our week stay at Edgecliff Lodge was great. Location is excellent; just a short trip to the city by bus (across the road from the Motel), by train (a short walk to Edgecliff Station) or by ferry (a pleasant walk to Double Bay wharf or Darling Point). Our room was comfortable with all the facilities we required. It was quiet, overlooking the neighbouring gardens. Our bathroom was newly renovated and the shower hot water was excellent. The supplied continental breakfast was ideal. The individual air-conditioning of our room was very good, enhanced with the ability to open both windows. Wi-Fi was great. The service we received from Tiffany at the reception was second to none. She went out of her way to welcome us and make our stay comfortable. Room service was good with cleaning and fresh towels every day (except for one day). We thoroughly recommend this accommodation for a short or longer stay – it is certainly good value for accommodation of this standard.

We had some issues with the delivery of our breakfast for a couple of days (which was remedied by Tiffany and her associate without any trouble).

Excellent value for money. Clean, comfortable bed, modern bathroom, breakfast included and a distant harbour view. I didn’t have my car with me, but Edgecliff Station is a five minute walk and bus stops to the City or Watsons Bay are closer. Rules were provided on check in, which is appropriate because they are there to help you from a fine incurred by the fire department if you set off the alarm through your own negligence. Breakfast was perfect for me. If you need more, and a decent coffee, the Rushcutters Bay Kiosk is close by. Good experience and value for money. I’ve paid a lot more for a lot less.

Fridge was a bit noisy and wasn’t too impressed with housekeeping having a loud conversation outside my room while I was still asleep at 07:45. Signs that say “quiet” should also apply to staff.

Really close to the train station, like less than 10 minutes walk. Clean beds and shower, good shower pressure. Breakfast (bread, jam, butter, milk, 2x small packs of cereal) were provided so that was nice. Free parking.

Parking was a little 'hilly' and in a confined space. The motel is just on a busy road with tons of traffic so if you miss the turn into the parking, which is a little hidden, you'll have to turn around again.. not a big issue though. Also first come first serve. There's like probably 8 or less parking spaces (definitely more than 5). Room's not soundproof, there's a family with kids close or next to us and we could hear the kids talking or crying at night.

Location, and closeness to the train station. The rooms at the back are quiet with a view, The side rooms are spacious with good WIFI. Every single staff member is hospitable and shows exceptional dedication and commitment to the guests, especially the receptionists (more contact happened with Gabriel), who are always ready to help. It feels like at home.

The walls are thin, so you may hear some sounds from adjacent rooms. Staff before the entering room ideally should say "May I come in" 3 times to avoid possible encounters with guests inside.

Good location, good value for money! it’s very silencious to sleep and confortable. Clean environment, I loved the breakfast, it was super fast and uncomplicated to check in. The room was well equipped, it had just about everything: microwave, toaster, fridge, plates, cutlery, glasses, air conditioning, television, coffee and tea bags, hair dryer in the bathroom, etc. I would definitely come back and recommend!

the only thing that bothered me a little when I arrived was the smell of mold in the room, as if the room had been closed for a long time. But the smell was something that went away quickly and everything else was great.

The location of the hotel was really good for us. Not too far from the airport and easy walking distance to the city, plus Aldi, Coles and train station super nearby too. The room was larger than we expected and was well laid out. A tiny kitchen, but had all the necessities - cutlery, crockery, glasses, electric jug, toaster, fridge, microwave and of course a sink. Dishwashing liquid was provided :D Breakfast is included in the price as stated when you book. Brekky items, (slices of bread, butter, jam, cereal, juice, tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk) were all in the room already and brought anew daily. I wondered if this was a Covid-inspired move but it certainly wasn't an issue at all not having an actual dining room elsewhere in the hotel.

I really don't think they need to do anything extra. The hotel is excellent value for money compared to many many others and it provides everything a traveller needs.

Love being able to go so directly from car to room - it's like being in your own home. Room has everything we need - seating for two at the little table, good basic breakfast provided in the room to have whenever we're ready, very pleasant outlook into a garden from the rooms we usually have. Walk to the train station, to all the shops in Edgecliff Centre, and also to an excellent Indian restaurant just up the road. Pleasant park at a short walk in the opposite direction.

Basically we LOVE everything, and always choose it when we go to Sydney. Not a huge amount of parking - first come first served, but not very hard to find parking in the back streets close by.

The room itself was very clean, and recently refurbished. I was supplied with half a pint of milk, some cereal, two slices of toast (plus butter and jam/preserves) every day. There was a fridge, a kettle (with tea and coffee) and a toaster. Behind the hotel are some of Sydney's most expensive areas, so it's quite a contrast. There's a Coles nearby for groceries, a good Indian restaurant and Edgecliff station is just over the road, so it's very handy for town, and less than half an hour to the airport.

Check-in was a little annoying because I had to call a member of staff (the owner) to let me in. Luckily I had Skype on my phone so didn't have to pay international charges. The hotel's in an odd position - right next to a very busy arterial road. My room was near the front, and it shook when heavier vehicles went past. I couldn't close the bathroom window, so the noise leaked in.

Super clean and tidy property with free parking (first in best dressed). Check in was efficient and clear. It’s a functional stay - if you want a comfortable bed, basic breakfast and parking onsite, it’s great. We had a room toward the back of the property and didn’t have any problems with road noise, but I imagine rooms to the front might have some noise. Pretty waterside park nearby and a short walk to Kings Cross or Edgecliffe. It is uphill to both so it might not be a “walkable” experience if you have a mobility aide.

Some rooms are accessed by a little bridge from the main walkway. If you don’t like heights, maybe call and ask for a room without the bridge access.
